    So intresting. I have a brompton C line with 6 speeds and the only thing i envy about P line is the 4 speeds. I find it simpler, and I think it makes you focus more on the riding experience and less on changing gears. Your mod is very beautiful, if it was not for the cost or the lack of ability I have in doing such work, I would have copied it😅

    Damn, as a roadie, I wish I knew about this 2 years ago before I sold my P line 6 speed due to complete garbage factory gear ratios. I can see now Brompton themselves offer a 12s factory option as well. I'll wait until they offer fatter tyres and disc brakes as well, I feel this is a transitional setup.

      Doubt you ever gonna get that. Just buy a birdie if you need fat tires and disc. It’s a good bike.
      Unless you go aftermarket and build up yourself

      Your wish have come true it seems, Brompton just released the G-Line model for Gravel with fatter tyres aaaand disc brakes :)

    As an owner of a much former and much lighter than, 2019 SuperlightM6LXBrompton I could imagine to change to a 7 speed and lighter functioning system with only one changer instead of the absurd and complicated 2 times 3 gears, heavy internal/outside gear! I would prefer a 7 speed changer though, instead of a set intended for something else, and I'm sure it is sold also? From my present around 8,5 kilo (mudguards) I should think that I'm able to loose even more weight? I imagine to come close to the very problematic T-line, and still with my more gears. Finn.     Ideally modifying a shimano capreo hub to fit 112mm would let you allow for as small as a 9t setup. Then you could use a 50t chainring followed by a 9-11-13-16-19-23-28t cassette. This will more closely emulate a c-line with an extra gear and better spacing, but lighter, and less of a jump in gear ranges while outputting similar range. You should seek out Leonard Rubin's Design as he has been working on a titanium trifold using a 28? 30? speed design using a front derailleur system as well.

Your english is great because you use a wide range of vocabulary words. Don't worry about your accent.     Hey, thanks for the video. I'm located in Canada and I was hoping to get more information on this conversion kit. The idea of using carbon wheels is enticing, but I suppose it's still doable with a basic wheelset. As you know, I still have to eat. :)

    I still prefer the stock internal gear and 2 external. Nothing else to change except the rear suspension and wheel extender. Carbon rims is a big no unless its a disc brake model.

    hi, thanks for the vid. does converting to external gears have any problem with the folding? like do you need to be in a certain gear to fold? I think i saw that from some other external geared trifold (not brompton).

      It doesn't change the way it is being folded. But like conventional bikes, gears must be in the resting position (smallest cog) to avoid stress on the derailleur.

    Cliff, nice titanium folding bike. Do you know if that same build with gold brazing is still available minus the carbon wheels for purchase? Can you assist me on purchasing one?
    Edit: I got hold of the shop owner, he doesn’t sell the gold brazing version anymore 😢

    Your suspension block is too soft you’re bouncing all over the place. That one is infamous for breaking. Use a more firmer one. You’re losing efficiency
    External gear brompton are slow ones. At the max of 60t front you’re max in the 30+ km/h range spinning out. And cruise around 25km/h
    You can see already how your legs are spinning fast and you’re barely going anywhere. This may make more sense in a hilly environment
    The truth is weight doesn’t mean that much in flat areas
    Another disadvantage is the internal hub has a wider range so not only is faster top speed, it can climb better than an external only system.
    So in conclusion it’s best for slow casual riding in urban cities in which you need to constantly fold and pick up the weight for public transport.
    And to add as well this titanium clone just to educate people reading this. 1.5mm tubing size of Chinese titanium is very flexy. In fact no one wil go for that. They will go 2.0mm. Still titanium flexes more than steel so it’s a compromise of the low corrosion and the lightness of a titanium for the flex. Also to add, not all titanium Chinese clones are built the same. One of the risk you take is cracked titanium. Yes it can crack if it’s poor quality. For example in the headset area if tighten too much. If the stem fails you’re gonna fly off the front. That’s why it’s good to stick with more expensive Chinese titanium parts like TI39. Not cheap and can get up there to the price of a real brompton but at least you can trust it better.

      Dunno why my comment is not saving correctly so I’ll continue. The carbon rims are only for show
      They are not much or not at lower in weight than a lower profile lightweight aluminum wheel
      The irony is that the external gear set limits the top speed so you don’t even get into the speed in which the deep aero design can even make a difference. And that difference is only for a straight line and not in an offset breeze for example. Where a side wind can push your bike over and make it more difficult to handle.
      Designs are basically a compromise there’s not all winner.
      The braking far more inferior and quite dangerous on a carbon wheelset with c clamps. The Brompton c clamp is already a mediocre braking system then you are the carbon surface and the brake pad that has to make and it’s worse. If you ride downhill with a lot of breaking you can actually damage the wheelset. This is why you see disk brakes on carbon wheelset on road bikes.
      So basically for the brompton this carbon and many other like it is just for the looks and you’re compromising braking , wind stability and also the ride quality with the stiffer deeper sidewalks. lol.
