As someone who used these saws 30 years ago, I can tell you that this is the same thing as the original. Chain brakes came as an option in the 80s and this saw predates them. I was running an 064 without a brake when I was 13 and logging in northern Michigan. I'd love to have the info on these because it appears to be taken ove r because it's old technology and the Germans won't make them any more. This would be perfect for milling! No brake required. That being said, chainsaw safety is one aspect of my profession and I have to say, do not ever run a saw with a chain that loose and it's especially dangerous to cut with the tip.

There was a day when no one would buy "Japanese Junk" complete with the comments that everything was made out of US beer cans. Today... Honda, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Sony, Hitachi, and several others are leading the quality pack. China has come a long way and today they are producing some high quality products at great prices. I'm an Arborist and I own quite a few actual Stihl saws. I make a living with Stihl's awesome quality and power. (I'm still bent at Stihl for replacing the ms200t with the lesser ms201t). I'm interested in any saw if it runs decent and I can depend on it. I'm not interested in supporting knock-offs and fakes per say, though it if runs decent, what the heck. Lots of haters making comments below. I do not know what these Chinese copies cost, though if they run good and they're cheap, I may buy one and run the hell out of it for 3 or 6 months.
+David Scalise I'm not impressed with the 070 clones. Heavy and vibrates like crazy. If you're wanting to experiment with a clone get the 660. Both cost around $300 each
Hi David. I have a mate who does up 090, 070's for sale. He sometimes gets chinese bits, plug caps, as are unique to model, but, he says the new chinese copy isa no good. Bought one, set it up, ran in gently, then it blew. . . The real thing will run all day, as u know. Yes, i was annoyed about ms200 replacement, too. But my 200 still great. Instead of the new070's, have u considered/got/used, an 07? Very similiar to 070, weighs 18 lbs, 4 an half horse, lots of torque, early 60's Stihl made them. I have two, long an short bars on. Lovely things. Ok, vibes, LOUD, but never fail me. Drop it on concrete, no break. Y'health, Mark.
It's a new chain that is going to stretch in the first real cut. You should not see the drive links dangling regardless of the bar's nose. A loose chain is dangerous.
If it is built like the original 070 then fine , I worked one in the late eighties to cut some huge Sitka spruce, Ok it wasn’t the most comfortable saw to work but it got the job done, I bought back then second hand for £ 100. They were called Stihl Contras, made in South America, tough old brutes , to buy the same size engined saw new today you would be looking at around £1500 ,so for an saw that’s only part time use it’s the the way to go.
I have one of these. It runs well. The clutch cover came cracked out of the box The kill switch is backwards. You should be able to kill it with just a push but you have to reach around and pull to stop the engine. I had to turn up the chain oiler a bit and after break in this thing is a beast for better or worse. There is no chain brake so don't get into a situation where you need one. In the current iteration the STIHL word does not appear on the product, just the 070. The 7/32 file is what fit my chain. Found out early on cause we dirted it. I don't plan on keeping mine because I can only imagine what it's going to be like getting parts for it. I just had a job to do and now it's done so yeah.
Looks like it needs a little tweaking, a little running. The Stihl 076 Magnum is one mean long bar lugger! Might not be super fast but you can hardly lug them if they are dialed in right. For the money, id buy a few!
I took a chance on one of these Chinese 070 saws it lasted less than a week, broke in gradually plenty oregon oil at 25:1 as advised rather than the regular mix of 50:1 no it didn't smoke like hell it ran fine I gave it a bit of work no problems other than the clutch slipping if the chain runs itself to tight when hot, "trial & error" used a 36in quality stihl bar & chain, oiler fine & additional thumb oiler fine if your thumb is 6in long! it's heavy as hell but ok for cross cutting at it's own pace, what happened? the big end collapsed whilst idling no less! cemi locked & theres the usual debris wedged between piston and barrell, now needs a total rebuild with quality "NON CHINESE" barrell/piston & crank, one day! UK
The 290 is fine for an occasional cut here and there, but it isn't a good saw. You'll notice it in comparison videos a lot because it's tuned down for the farmer and it makes the other saws it's being compared to look superior. It's built to go slow and just never die. Example, The ms 270 is the first in professional grade saws and it will flat out kill the 290. If you want a really good saw I suggest the ms 362C. This thing is the best all around saw ever made. Expensive, but worth every penny.
Just needs to adjust the high side screw in while under a load till it smooths out. You can adjust in without a load on it and it will end up too lean.
I just read through some of the comments here. While this may be a cheap Chinese knockoff, they aren't that bad. Besides, if you want a Stihl 070, this is your best bet since Stihl no longer sells that model. China making older 'Stihl' models is pretty much the same as aftermarket companies making brand new vintage cars, such as Jeep tubs, frames, whole Mustang bodies etc. These aren't modern or current models being copied, they're the old tried and true versions we can't buy new here anymore. I own an original 070, and an 090, both were handed down to me over the years but both have a lot of use and have been rebuilt several times over. If the Chinese manufacturers shipping wasn't so high, I would consider one myself.
Is a old model the 070 AV 😊 Chinese are sometimes pretty good cloner especially with old good product. Just sad they not added chainbreak. This model was a pretty big engine 105cc with a low rpm max above 8200 or 8500 giving 4.8kw at 7000 but tons of good torque. For me need 2 things change the contact switch for a smaller one and customise a light stainless steel plate as front hand guard. And please tight a bit your chain 3 drive teeth could go out when you pull on it after tightening on 1st cut after it had expand you can let 5 drive teeth to save a bit the guide. Depend of use. And good idea to directly put Still chain and guide , Chinese do nice engine parts but their chains are bubble gum. PS oregon work even better for me. 😁
The 070's and bigger 090's were uncomparable to today's Stihl saws. Low revving and loads of low end torque. Nearly impossible to stall. We used to run a 6ft guidebar on an 090. Chain used to whistle. Could refill petrol and oil with it still running through a big log!
Did you like this saw. Or would you say the farmertec g660 is better quality. Im trying to decide which to get. Also where did you fi d this saw. Thanks
I have a chinese chainsaw which is basicly a husqvana copy it goes great. I cant justify paying a couple of thousand dollars when u can get copies that do the same job for a quarter of the price.
I worked for Stihl Chainsaw way back in 1968 in Malaysia......this 070 model was the most popular model sought after by the local lumberman while 090 appealed to a more Heavy-Duty operation . Surprisingly this Chinese clone Stihl chainsaw sounded and looks exactly the same of the Original Stihl.....! Yup, the chain was rather LOOSE and might cause a danger in running if tension not adjusted properly.......
Ok so for all of those half wits hating in the comments 1. It's not a real stihl it's nothing more than a Chinese imitation of a stihl. 2. The chain is not loose at all it has to be slack like that because it's a hard nose bar And thirdly it doesn't have a chain brake because the saw has too much Power behind it so a chain brake would get torn to shreds really quickly
Well the chain was loose you goose because it came off, just lucky he didn't kill himself so keep your stupid comments to your self, go back to chain saw school.
I noticed that the chain isn't tight enough on that saw, and secondly, i didn't know that Stihl made saws in China. It seem to work fine, and if it gives you great service then you don't have to worry about who it is made by.
Very Nice! Did you happened to examine the chain closely? Stihl marks the links. I have seen them referred to as OEM in the built category and it would seem reasonable that Stihl produces chains and bars in China, it would be nice to hear if that silver box was warranted. Stihl still produces a few consumer saws there. Huztl is going to release a 070 kit in the near future and after seeing yours I look forward to getting my hands on one and put one of their Holzfforma Portable Chainsaw Mills on it and see what happens. You are in that position now. :-)
I hope to make a milling video with the 070 and their mill by next week. I have a few 8' mesquite logs that I need to mill up. The only problem is I don't have a ripping chain for it.
Grind some semi chisel to 10/50/-10 and go for it. I you don't have the setup for making chain and regrinding to mill profile, shoot me a message with your info and I'll fix you some up for cost.
Experimentally, I've found full-skip semi-chisel, filed as for crosscutting, to work just as well as ripping chain for milling hardwood. KISS. And ... how can OP call a pirated copy a "stihl"? (No stihl fanboy here.)
Why did you sell this one? What parts could I replace oem that would make you consider keeping it. Last question do you think the 660 clone mills just as good as this one
Just came across this video, so late comment. Liked what I saw, and thumbs up, and Sub’d, what the heck... That is a Saw! Looks to be a decent ‘copy?’ What the Chinese are good at. They do make some really good stuff, as well as junk. Big bar and chain, so I get it, with the looseness, but it seemed a bit much? Spied that ‘real saw’ in the background, @ 09:00! 😊 I’m assuming you've recovered by now, from the beating your Wife gave you about the scratched up table?! 😳🙄😂👍✌
Hey mate, where'd ya get this knock off? Hate to do it but I can't justify the thousands for the real deal. Need a bigger milling saw, like the solid tip on this bar for it actually.
Giant chunk of plastic. You could tighten chain a lil more since you have a hardnose bar. The pull start sounds weak an short pull. I use saws daily. What is weight an how much power? No not what a real stihl 070. Yes this is old model as they ended 0?? Years ago, would be a 700 today. I have a 660 an it does good. Just got my 3120xp a 6 ft bar. Sounds like it is pig rich. Is the carb adjustable? Bet anything the chain an bar are german stihl parts. China has a hard time with close tolerances, an hardening metal correctly. Wonder how long it will go before failure.???
It's funny how people get so upset when they see a video of someone using a stihl or husqy copy, but when someone posts a video of them using a redmax/zenoah copy they don't say a word or assume its a clone of some type of stihl or husqy because think those are the only companies that make saws. I'll bet most of you people critizing cody have never even pulled a cylinder off a chainsaw.
Bar says Made in Germany, but theres something blurred out on it too, visible at 0:24. Does the saw say made in Germany anywhere? Does it have a serial number and if so what does it look up as in the Stihl saw registry? Just curious about how far this goes to misrepresent what it really is. I think the bar may be OEM. obviously the saw is not.
the chain needs to be tightened, and there is no kickback safety brake, engine seems strong except rpm doesn't seem to climb. I have seen better copies than this one but if the buyer is pleased, and he can tighten the chain, and is real careful, keep it.
don't look like it has to great of compression right out of the box. I have a west German 090 and a 070 (used to have 3 090's but I sold 2) on all the saws I had to always hold down the decompression valve button or they would not start or even let me pull them. also please adjust that damn chain!!
It looks good, but Chinese copies always do. I bought a genuine Husqvarna and it starts on the third pull every time. That was quite a struggle to get it going at 4:30 I'm going to have to agree with most of the other comments on one thing however...that chain is way too loose.
I wonder how the Chinese 070 will last against the German made 070 ? Especially after 10 years of regular use . Has anybody got the answer ?? or anybody used the china made saw for 5 + years ?
To hot dog,,I've read that still will still make you an 090 on request for around 2200 dollars all hand made too!I guess they might have a place in really big timber,I know of a local small mill operated who trimmed his bundles of lumber with one,I've seen it done Herman Brothers was the name of their company out of connellsville pa.I think their recently all retired now good bunch of guys though straight shooters! They seemed to use a lot of off brand skidders and such like cooper skidders Tyler skidders tree farmers ext.ext.
Would you do a follow up video, I know there's alot of hate on here, that it isn't a REAL stihl, but I've been a logger for over 10 years now, and there isn't a bigger supporter of stihl out there than I lol. I have not only been using stihl, but collecting everything stihl and am considering just adding one of these to more than likely hang in the garage, but obviously use from time to time just because. But would love a follow up video of your opinion from when you bought it....until now

I love it where can I get mine. ?
I hope emts are on stand by
I would like to know how it's holding up 1 year later? Is it worth buying? The price is good might want one just to have it and not use much.
Nice 👍👍👍👍,I have the only after that one, beautiful and, beautiful, saw
Made in China like any other stuff we buy. What is the surprise?.
What company produced this? Farmertec saws are blue.
The 070's and bigger 090's were uncomparable to today's Stihl saws. Low revving and loads of low end torque. Nearly impossible to stall. We used to run a 6ft guidebar on an 090. Chain used to whistle. Could refill petrol and oil with it still running through a big log!
Very cool. Love the sounds of this new old chainsaw. lol.
+Love2boat92 I can't wait to mill with it.
helo were you buy your 070 sthil clone and how much you pay for the chain saws and bar
That's a great saw man don't let them hate everyone knows a new saw the chain stretchs let us know how long it last
I sold it. Too heavy and vibrated too much
Doesn't sound like it's running right...
The black thing next to the plug is to break the compression
Did you like this saw. Or would you say the farmertec g660 is better quality. Im trying to decide which to get. Also where did you fi d this saw. Thanks
were did you buy your chain saw and how much i want to buy one
The farm tek saws aren't too bad as long as you know saws and don't mind doing a touch of mod. We will see if it holds up the similar.
Ok so for all of those half wits hating in the comments
1. It's not a real stihl it's nothing more than a Chinese imitation of a stihl.
2. The chain is not loose at all it has to be slack like that because it's a hard nose bar
And thirdly it doesn't have a chain brake because the saw has too much Power behind it so a chain brake would get torn to shreds really quickly
Well the chain was loose you goose because it came off, just lucky he didn't kill himself so keep your stupid comments to your self, go back to chain saw school.
the chain came off you fool, he was lucky it didnt kill him you FUCKING IDIOT
bruce poole when
bruce poole the chain diddn't even come off spastic
can you read or are you to stupid, that's why he got rid of it he could'nt adjust the chain any more and it came of you half. fuck off.
Looks like a good saw to me !
Sounds awesome ? Sounds like a pos moped.. pull the slack outta that chain before it comes off and takes your lips off
+mason chase I sold it because it wouldnt stay tight
KimballCody good move, that was dangerous...
STIHL guidebars and chains are made in the US.
stihl chains and bars are not made in china
Where did you buy this saw from and how much was the saw thanks god bless
Huztl dot net
I need this machine, how can I get it?
Farmertec dot com
Should start on 2 pulls
no safety equipment, chain way to loose, chinese chunk....you are the man....
Why did you sell this one? What parts could I replace oem that would make you consider keeping it. Last question do you think the 660 clone mills just as good as this one
Slow, heavy and vibration.
The 660 is easy to work on with parts easy to acquire
"Ya'll watch this kickback!"
Is this a copy or just a stihl model made in China ??? It sounds like the carb needs adjustment and where is the chain brake ??
Sir i want that but a lot of money..how much for philippines.
I just bought an Ojenas 070, 105 cc that is almost like yours and it started up real quick. We will see how it works when the 36" bar gets here.
This saw is not so great. I took it to a Stihl repair shop and they wouldn’t touch it. It stopped running after a few months.
The clutch fell off and messed up the left hand threaded nut, the crank threads are messed up.
I like old saws and that's a easy way to get a clean wall hanger I guess. But I would hold out for a original.
I ended up selling it
Can you buy this in America or can you have it shipped from China to America please give me information and details
Yes. Hutzl.net
I’m assuming you've recovered by now, from the beating your Wife gave you about the scratched up table?! 😳🙄😂👍✌
We got a new one
Stihl stil makes this model right? Only for south america
I believe they make a 720. A few small differences
Hey mate, where'd ya get this knock off? Hate to do it but I can't justify the thousands for the real deal. Need a bigger milling saw, like the solid tip on this bar for it actually.
Huztl dot net but I'd recommend the 660 over this
Giant chunk of plastic.
No plastic. Stihl never made a 700
The chain is too loose ... oil spilled. Funnel?
Great review on still clone chain saw the 070 did very well for you just loved it
That sparkplug wire doesn't knock the fire out of you?
It's funny how people get so upset when they see a video of someone using a stihl or husqy copy, but when someone posts a video of them using a redmax/zenoah copy they don't say a word or assume its a clone of some type of stihl or husqy because think those are the only companies that make saws. I'll bet most of you people critizing cody have never even pulled a cylinder off a chainsaw.
Appreciate your support
KimballCody I just got one of these and its a surprisingly nice saw to run.
Buying one of these kit saws is like buying a radio controlled gas powered car ,putting it together getting it to run and h
@KimballCody
Where did you bought it from? Please share the link, thanks.
Huztl.net
How did the saw turn out since this video? Is it still running?
I sold it. Too heavy. I mill with the 660 clones now
I bought one. Paid more for shipping than the actual saw. It lacks power and don't expect it to last long.
I sold mine
Holy shit, I was waiting for the chain to fly off
+cyphrr it did
You still got the saw? And if so, how has it held up? Just curious.
If i want it how can i get it pls
if this is 105 cc its a low rev motor be better in a go cart , the 92 cc version makes a great saw.
I. Bet the little husqy sitting next to it will cut circles Around it looks like 1980s vintage, no chain brake.
how many cc is your copy of a sthil 070
Bar says Made in Germany, but theres something blurred out on it too, visible at 0:24. Does the saw say made in Germany anywhere? Does it have a serial number and if so what does it look up as in the Stihl saw registry? Just curious about how far this goes to misrepresent what it really is. I think the bar may be OEM. obviously the saw is not.
If you watched the video you'd clearly see where I explained that it was a clone
Were do you get from I would like to get one
the chain needs to be tightened, and there is no kickback safety brake, engine seems strong except rpm doesn't seem to climb. I have seen better copies than this one but if the buyer is pleased, and he can tighten the chain, and is real careful, keep it.
im glad to see im not the only one that spills oil all over the saw when i fill it
dilligaf put your bar oil in an empty 56 ounce dawn dish soap bottle. Works perfectly.
bluelude2001 I’m not sure that would work in colder conditions
Or you could just turn the jug on it's side so air can get in and never spill a drop ever.
Southeastern Ohio Honeybees yeah hé showed poor technique à funnel also works great
don't look like it has to great of compression right out of the box. I have a west German 090 and a 070 (used to have 3 090's but I sold 2) on all the saws I had to always hold down the decompression valve button or they would not start or even let me pull them. also please adjust that damn chain!!
were did you buy your sthil copy made in china and how much you pay for it im asking because id like to buy one
It looks good, but Chinese copies always do. I bought a genuine Husqvarna and it starts on the third pull every time. That was quite a struggle to get it going at 4:30 I'm going to have to agree with most of the other comments on one thing however...that chain is way too loose.
Why there's no smoke?
You look like that kid off of that show malcolm in the middle 😂
I wonder how the Chinese 070 will last against the German made 070 ?
Especially after 10 years of regular use . Has anybody got the answer ??
or anybody used the china made saw for 5 + years ?
is the saw for sale
But would love a follow up video of your opinion from when you bought it....until now
+Mr. Stihl
sold it
Too heavy, vibrates too much. Chain wouldn't stay tight.
Is the carb adjustable on these saws?I hate to admit it,but im getting interested in these clones.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
how much you pay for your chain saw
and were can i buy one
whats the screeching noise ? it doesnt sound right, you dont hear it anywhere only after 8:15 when you restart it after you fixed the on/off switch.
+Nathan Van de Velde i think it was the fly wheel rubbing on the starter cover
How much that chain saw
