This Grandfather Clock Is One Of The Most Beautiful Clocks I've ever seen because of the sunlight reflection reflecting on the wood of the Grandfather Clock and the sound of the Chime. 1:23 January 18 2020 3:19
Me and my son Bert like watching your video. He's 20 months old and loves clocks and we enjoy your use of the phrase "Hello Youtooobers". Excellent video
Indeed. This video was from well before the "content creators" shift in politically correct terminology. The era of RUclips which had "rate, comment, subscribe" instead of "leave a like, subscribe, and click the notification bell."
As a child i was scared to death of my Grand moms Grandfather clock... this is my 1st time in over 25 years seeing one. The thought just popped in my head and i RUclips'd to see if they still exist. I must say this is a very beautifully crafted clock though. Still have my reservations about them but this made me feel a bit nostalgic. :)
+Billy Rife When I was little my grandfather had an OG clock from the 1870s. The gong sounded like pots and pans which scared me. I also remember the roman numerals on the dial looked liked angry. They didn't seem nice like Arabic numerals. Those are some things why people can be scared by clocks when they are small.
I know what you mean. We had a wall clock with a pendulum, it wasn't big like this clock, but when it would go off with its tunes in the middle of the night during my trips to the bathroom, I would be terrified. This probably would've scared me as a kid in the dark too. The sounds are so deep, but since I'm an adult now, I'd appreciate one of these.
The weights are hung on the cables. their are three pulleys, one for each shell. Keep in mind each shell has a different weight, and exact position depending on its function, be it strike, time or chime.
Elliot Phillips. The roof of this clock is located on the top behind the bonnet top and it's where as he said he puts his winding crank at rather than inside one of the side panels. I'd do the same thing too if I had a grandfather clock with cable driven. My parents has a German grandfather clock with chain driven movement.
I have a watch with the same description, but this is very old, but there is no heart case. The clock from 1890 is older than this year of manufacture.
Very nice clock and great sound. You haven't let us hear the westminster yet. Only the St. Michael and the Whittington. I think it's a better idea to store the winding crank at the top behind the bonnet rather than reachinside the clock through the side access pannels. That' swhat I would do. That way you can get to it quicker and easier.
You could also keep The Winding Crank in the inside of The Grandfather Clock And Put it on the ground in The Inside of The Grandfather Clock Inside. February 2 2022
I turned 70 (how did THAT happen???) and have just bought our first-ever Grandfather clock. Have yet to read the entire book because of lack of time and wanted the short version. But you only showed how to use the crank for the first weight. Where do you raise the second and third one? Helpful so far... Thank you!
You will find the openings at roughly the 9, 6 and 3 oclock positions to fit the crank in. Look on the face of the clock for the holes. No particular order, just don't do it at at 3 , 6 or 9 oclock and the hole will be not be fully free to access.
pancove925 Thank you--funny how I never noticed those before! I was too busy admiring our lovely new clock. Now I can wind to my heart's content. Love this clock! PS Guess my husband isn't too "up" on furniture lingo. I told him I wanted a clock with "the broken pediment" and he said, well, if it's broken, why do you want it? Husbands--you gotta love 'em. Thank you again for taking the time to reply.
Marci make sure you don't over wind your clock. Most newer clocks have a stop on them to prevent overwinding. Dust to a clock is very bad inside the movement. Have it cleaned once every five years to prevent the clock from wearing itself out from dust gathering in the pivot holes.
My clock has a middle winder that is loose. I can’t tell why it’s loose. Clock man say it’s a big repair if it breaks sigh Anyone know about this kinda repair ? The crank key wobbles when you put it in place.
Another excellent video. I just purchased a Howard Miller Grandfather, and am looking forward to having it add life to my home. One question....how often does these require maintenance?
It needs to be oiled and cleaned every 3 to 5 years depending on your conditions. After that, I think the bushings are the most likely to need replacing after 10 years. What kind of clock did you get ? Post a video and give a tour !
Yes' sadly HM builds all their clocks so they make money consistently. Seems they learned GMs tricks where repairs come as often as possible. While many old pre 1920 clocks have been ticking away smoothly over 100yrs with the occasional cleaning/oiling. My grandmother left me, my bro & sisters 4 wall clocks from that period when she passed in late 80's. All 3 clocks have been running smoothly since new, not a one has been rebuilt to date.
dkintana my grandma’s friend has a grandfather clock like that one. It’s like a Howard Miller triple Chime grandfather clock, except it’s Craftline Triple Chime grandfather clock
mel brooks you need to put your chime and strike mode on so that you see all Wright’s descend. Without the chime and strike you would be only seeing the middle weight drop
I just inherited my grandfather's clock. I've been watching videos on them to better educate myself. One comment i read stated a website called Clockmaster. I think they're out of Missouri. Maybe they can help.
Might want to get a standard Howard Miller key which is less that $10 ....... go from there if you need to find a local clock shop which is hard to find these days at least in the northern California Bay Area suburbs
If it's been three or four years your clock needs to be oiled. You can go online and see if there are any horologists or clock repairers that can come to your house and oil it for you. If your clock is chain driven the weights can be heavy pulling them up.
Nice Video man, Do you have a recommendation of how to clean and polish the Pendulum ? Mine got some black stains on it, i need to get rid of it. Thanks
Hiệp Trần Thanh I think you mean: I live in Vietnam, how can I order this clock? Probably on amazon.com but read the reviews. You'll overpay and they'll send you a tiny toy clock that looked big in the picture.

Thank you. Just purchased the Howard Miller Beckett 611-194. All your videos are informative.

Mark Burnette You cant really overwind a grandfather clock, or any weight driven clock....
you can only overwind spring driven clocks.
Had a request to add a Westminster Chime video . Any other special requests while I make an update ?
Show the westminter chime on the hour.

I have had a Ethan Allen grandfather clock in my family for about 30 years

We do not have a crank at all we have weights with pull chains. Help please!
You don't need the crank key for chain driven clocks. Just pull the chains and raise the weights.
nice clock...
When you realize you forgot to type the L in clock
Where are the switches for the chimes?
I bet you got up at 5:30 that day...
Me or the clock ? LOL
Does not get me the hot ladies on E harmony !

I'd love to own one, but I'd upgrade to Threadripper before buying one of these, lol.
you should work on a radio or something you voice is good for that kind of works :D

Nothing better to do with time than to wound a fancy clock "every" eight days... 😔 It is a beautiful clock though.
