This match is interesting to me, because actually, Gregor's game reminds me of Roger's. So it's fun that i get to watch them both. It's not just the corresponding one-handed back hands, which are really great ... it's the way Gregor moves as well, to me, very similar to Roger. Thx for posting!
Dimitrov took away time.. Federer was forced to play a lot of safe shots, even on volleys which affected his confidence in going for angles. Kind of reminds me of the way Cilic played as well, forcing you to return deep and fast balls. In the end Roger handled it well, but not as well as he would have in 2017 onwards where he wouldn't have allowed Dimitrov to dictate points as much. The contrast of Roger's game here compared to 2017 is obvious. In 2017+ his service returns got significantly more aggressive and consistent with harder forehands and a levelled up backhand. His fitness improved, his volleys got sharper, more decisive/aggressive. I believe he went up a couple of grams in racquet weight and even increased it further in 2019 at the expense of increased topspin difficulty. This allowed more consistent backhands as he could comfortably handle harder shots on that side. It's a shame Federer went for a prettier more technical game vs early career where he went for a lot of winners and hit harder. It took him going back to a hard hitting game to win his last 3 slams.
say what you want about Dimitrov, but you gotta give him credits for playing very similar to Federer, especially the forehand. That style is like a dying breed on the tour now, maybe Alcaraz's forehand is similar. But it has more spins and doesnt penetrate as deep as Dimitrov's or Federer's.
I always held in higher regard players with a one-handed backand. Dimitrov's is among the best. Surprised he hasn't gotten a GS title. This isn’t war. This is art.
This has to be some of the most sublime tennis i have ever seen. Thank you for bringing this match up
15 mins is not enough.
Dimitrov feels like an unfinished or ripe Federer. He looks like having similar potential but lacking that final stone
Watching really out into perspective how similar their play actually is. Dimitrov modeled his entire game after Roger’s and it shows in this match.
2016 AO fed is underrated. If he hadnt ran into Djokovics best AO people would have regarded him much higher

The Artists!!
You wonder if Federer ever wondered what it would be like to play a match against himself.
It looks like he was playing himself. Roger is playing an excellent student of his own game.
14:03 We all know Grigor's backhand is amazing, but this point shows how brutally perfect his forehand can be

So beautiful to watch
Tenis de altísimos kilates....El maestro jugando con su propia sombra. .
Talk about power hitting!

bro i swear you have sped it up a fraction.
No they’re just playing with full aggression, you don’t see that a lot from Djokovic esque players
There would be no need but they do it. Execrable
yeah its definitely sped up
Can’t tell who’s who
When Tennis was Tennis, not the bunch of crippled 2hbh matches we see now.
Ah, they didn't blur the names out.
Congrats!
Beautiful match
Great match❤
When you hit a slice, it makes no sound.
I sould love tennis to be always like that and not always defensive pssy players winning it all.
Rf ! What else ?!
All the fun has gone when roger gone
12:24 that is tennis pornography! Utterly delicious backhands here, and Dimitrov's winner is stunning
