Well since I retired from the military with a head injury, I like simple things and the 1 knob and 1 switch, nothing to co fuse me, lol. Thanks Robert, happy new year
You’re welcome! I hope you didn’t mind the click-baity title. LOL I’ve learned since the video was posted that the pedal can actually drive a speaker cab, so I’m going to do a separate video on that. Thanks for checking it out!
Yes Robert, it is LOUD. Now, as a side note, the circuit uses two LM386-N1. This IC is used as a very small wattage poweramp (you read it right, poweramp), meaning it's purpose is to drive small loudspeakers like portable radios, tape decks etc. This one in particular delivers about 0.365W into 8 Ohm. Problem is that is is not very "hi-fi", it distorts pretty bad when it is used with the gain cranked. Hence EarthQuaker took advantage of this "feature" and created this beast. And now you know why it can be used as a preamp, no problem. Nice to see you again man. Happy new year!! PS: you do like fuzzes. Not all, but some :)
I have found that The Acapulco Gold is one of those "works better as a preamp" pedals. Edit: I wrote this before you used it as a preamp into your interface... lol
I do like the sweet spot but it feels to me like a one-knob one-trick-pony pedal and we don't live in that world anymore. I had a Ghost Echo a while back and it ended up being something I liked a couple of settings but just not enough tones for the price. That guitar is a beast I must say!
I completely agree on the 12 o'clock in front, and 3 o'clockish pre-amp. Anything above those two settings is not my sound either. I'd imagine SOMEONE could make use of higher settings (looking right at you Jack White)...but not me. Almost unlistenable to me above noon and 3 respectively.
Did you know you can drive a cab with this pedal? The pedal is built with 2x cascading 1W amplifier ICs named the LM386. So yeah pretty much a little amp in a pedal. Does it sound good driving a speaker? Nope.... but it can do it.
It's a badass guitar. Definitely one of the best guitars I’ve ever bought. I didn’t know I’d be playing it as often as I do at the time that I bought it 10 years ago.
Yeah, I'll pass on this pedal. Thanks for reviewing it. BTW Have you heard of the Yamaha UB99 MagicStomp guitar effects processor? It's a little known and forgotten gem from 2003 and reminds me of a pedal that Boss should have made. Just because it's made by Yamaha, don't think it sucks, it's a pretty darn good pedal. Kind of a "Swiss Knife" of semi-vintage guitar pedals. Not sure about the acoustic model of this pedal, the UB99A, cause I'm not interested in it.
According to EQD, the knob is ONLY volume. It's the same amount of gain at every knob position, it just gets louder.

Nothing wrong with that! Happy New Year!
@RobertWJackson Plus the louder I play, at the right frequency....my ears stop ringing.
Thanks for this demo! The pedal sounds siiiiiick!👺

Thats a Bad Ass Jam Robert! Happy New Year Brother.

A few people have told me that already. I’m gonna try it out!

no stems no seeds that you don't need

I built a clone of this. LOUD!!! LOUD!!! LOUD!!! Loudest. D@mn. Pedal. Ever.
It's strange to me that this pedal can be both too much and not enough at the same time. Great jam though

Acapulco Gold. Hmmm I seem to remember that name was for a substance I used to enjoy back in the mid 70's 😄

Really? No, I didn’t know that. Looks like I’ll be doing a second video on this pedal! LOL
almost sounds as good as the Humungous Fuzz 😝 nah humungous fuzz is massively better!
Love your riffin' dude! PLUS, I've taken a fancy to that Charvel! BEAUTIFUL! 🤩

I can see how some would like this. (Hey there Entombed fans?) But it's not exacty my thing. The direct sound was better.

I love Yamaha gear, I’d let that be a reason to assume it’s awesome. LOL I’ll check it out!
As long time subscriber, your guitar playing has gotton much better. You and i have a lot in common as far as gear...
Thanks man!
A new video!!
It’s actually my third one in a week! I posted two videos last week. 😉
Is it shorts weather in Baltimore?
No idea. I don’t live in Baltimore.
@@RobertWJacksonSorry. For some reason I thought you did. Enjoy wherever you are because it's balls ass cold everywhere else.
It is not.
