Once again, one of the best fundamentals of cue action I've stumbled upon on the internet. The feel of the potting the object ball vs just playing white on is something I had a lot of trouble in the begginning. Cheers from Stjepan from Požega, Croatia.
Very recently started playing 8 ball, complete rookie, and only go to a bowling alley with some friends a few times a week, since we Don't have pool halls or whatever they are called. Just wanted to let you know that these videos are actually helping a tremendous amount. I'm a complete rookie who can barely pot angled balls, although when thinking about all your different tips, taking my time, leaning down further, getting the footwork right, putting my face in the right direction and stuff, I tend to get ever so slightly more reliable pots, now I do know that if I want to become reliable no amount of RUclips videos is gonna solve that, I just need to put in the hours and play some pool. Sometimes I pot like 5-7 balls in one go, which is an amazing feeling. I know that's nothing to brag about really, but keep in mind, I'm a complete rookie. Just know these videos do help out a ton. Much appreciated from Tórshavn, The Faroe Islands. -Jósef
The way you have explained both issues and the way you explain how to fix them was exceptional. The 2nd (which even the best have sometimes) was explained very well. Enjoyed that 👍🏼👍🏼, great content.
There's a lot of videos about shooting the cue ball off a rail and trying to get it to come back and hit your tip etc. However none of those videos explain how to make an adjustment if you find you're shooting across the ball etc. What kind of systematic adjustments you can make to your stance etc, if it's consistently wrong.
Nice to see more and more videos about aiming, really helps someone like me who constantly has issues hitting ball where I want. Cheers from Riga, Latvia.
I'm currently looking at purchasing my own cue but I'm a bit overwhelmed by the big variety in options. I was just wondering if you would be able to recommend a couple of good and reputable makers/brands to look at?
I've watched a lot of videos on RUclips and your Chanel and I'm yet to see a single one that does justice on how to go down on a shot without slightly moving to the left or right. I believe it's quite complex and requires extensive explanation. You can't queue into your body so you have to move your waist out of the way as you go down. This affects my eye position and also the perpendicular angle initially formed from both my eyes to the centre of the ball. Also when I stand behind the shot, my right arm is not lined up with the centre of the cue ball. I have to get it into position while going down and it's difficult to tell if it's in line. I'm also not sure of how best to distribute my body weight to each foot. When stepping forward and going down on a shot, I find it impossible to keep my head on the line it was while I was standing and at the same time move my body out of the way for the cue stick. I hit 100's of balls everyday. Some go straight in with no side spin, others don't even go anywhere close to the pocket and in my mind I'm doing exactly the same thing. I have no problem finding angles or the centre of the ball. It's while I'm going down to line up the shot everything goes to sh*t. Help me pls.
You definitely need to do the Up and Down the table with the chalk for a good length of time and Im sure you cueing accross the ball slightly. If all your enlightenment is right you say then whilst getting down and moving you hips so far away you could be pulling the cue towards your chest? making you cue accross the ball. It could be mm's and it will make you miss. The practice will show you what your doing and you can start putting the cue at diffrent place of the chest or which takes a lot more practice is bring the chest to the cue not the other way round (found this harder when I was flowing) Personally I go down, weight goes move to the opposite direction of the line of the shot so I purposely move my cue out towards a certian position on my chest which keeps the cue online. Otherwise automatically my hand wants to follow my body. The front always looked perfect. I used a camara and tripod to spot what I had a habit of doing at the final moment of resting on the table and corrected it. Good luck with your game.
