I'm 60 years old and I grew up in that school system from Southgate through Mount Eden high school and I can tell you that Southgate School is I went by there recently needs to be bulldozed and a new school needs to be placed on its platform it's not acceptable for children

Close them. Give your kids a better chance. Do home schooling/community schools. It's really affordable and you can be involved with what your kids are learning

So sad. Especially a K8 school, they are a rarity these days. I understand it makes sense even just due to utility and administrative costs… That being said though, if a school does close and it saves all these millions of dollars, I’m hoping at least the district can provide a school bus and drop off at the original location for those parents who cannot drive or do not wish to drive the further distance daily. Wouldn’t that only cost a tiny fraction of how much money the district will be saving by closing it?

Schools require an extreme amount of tax dollars to run. If there's no longer enough students to justify running so many schools anymore, it makes sense to close them. These times are already financially hard enough, the money could go towards something more needed. People need to stop letting their emotions come before common sense.
