Keanu Reeves Talking In A British Accent For 10 Minutes | Bram Stoker’s Dracula Кино
It feels like Keanu is trying his best but no one on set told him No.
That he's trying his best is the worst part.
His lines feel like he's putting every second of his concentration into maintaining his accent.
Not only he is bad, but it also looks like he’s putting all of his focus in it 💀💀
literally sounds like he’s reading 😭
always does
I love him but he's mediocre at best a lot of the time.
I wonder how Gary Oldman and Anthony Hopkins really thinks and deal with his lacking British accent during the filming? They must have been cringing the whole time.
Hopkins was the only actor who came across as natural in the whole movie.
I don't care who you are, if a door closes on its own and your host floats towards you, some historically appropriate version of "WTF" I'd coming out of your mouth. Followed by "get the f**k away from me, you goblin..."
7:10 best one
Bahahahahaha🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is what makes the movie so memorable. 😅
It sounds like Emma Watson trying to do an american accent
I came here from a clip of Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow and watching that and this back-to-back, it makes me wonder whether Johnny Depp was supposed to play (or at least considered for) the role of Harker in this, but the studio couldn’t get him, so they had to make do with Reeves instead.
I love this movie. Anthony Hopkins and Gary Oldman are phenomenal. I liked everything about it, even Keanu's accent. I wanted to see the part where Mina is turning on the train and he says, "Mina, stay with me. Please?"
You'd think someone with an English mum would have a passable British accent.
Mike Myers has Scottish parents so that's why he can do such a good Scottish accent.
Reeves' mother's family must have gotten a lot of ribbing about Keanu's accent.
I can see why Peter Jackson wouldn't cast him as Aaragon
Viggo's british accent in LOTR was not that good either. His american accent slipped a couple of times. But hey, at least he wasn't overdoing it like keanu did.
@@scinatit Doesn't matter since Aragorn is not british. English is a representation of Westron. Harker in the other hand is british.
@@Spiri7ualShi7 Well they were supposed to put on English and Irish accents depending on their class and kingdom.
Frodo, Gandalf and Saruman had an upper class London accent. Sam had a West Country accent as he was working class. Gondorians had 'normal' London accents. Pipping kept his Scottish accent. Eowyn had a Irish accent for some reason, not sure why. But they were all supposed to sound like they were from Celtic countries.
@@scinatit In over 20 years, I've never heard anyone describe Eowyn as having an Irish accent, nor did it ever register during all those viewings. And while Viggo's accent may have slipped in some of his earlier scenes, he had tremendous charisma and gravitas, and wasn't stiff and bland like Harker.
@@oscarstainton Eowyn's accent was also all over the place, but she did sound Irish or at least northern English.
now i know why his constantine wasn't british
Whoooooa-eth
I am 7 minutes into this movie and had to come to the internet for this. He sounds Chinese. It’s hysterical
As a British man, I can confirm
He’s not that bad
That’s good to hear.
That's cool. I'm sure it's at least semi-passable, but I've heard different from many other Brits, and even as an American, it seems highly exaggerated to the point of sounding very off. Not in every scene, but there are some where he just sounds ridiculous. It's specifically his line "bloody wolves chasing me through some blue inferno!" that is the main issue when it comes to his attempt at any sort of a British accent
@@cyborgoftheyearThought the acting seems fine, it is more the accent that sucks.
I concur with great enthusiasm. The people are simply overzealous in their criticism of Reeves.
The accent is servicable, the acting and emotional range not so much
Why can other yanks do an OK British accent ? Keanu sounds like he got his accent from a lucky bag.
I've wondered that myself, as a yank. Australian and British actors are often quite good at nailing the many types of American accents. But that's rarely the case with American actors trying to do Australian or British accents. Gary Oldman and Daniel Day Lewis tend to be able to nail all of the various different types of American accents in the roles they've portrayed.
Because he ain't a yank. He's part canadian, part... BRITISH! 🤣
@sirpicksalot_ They're better, but there is only a few that do it 100% convincingly.
5:23 this cracked me up . . 😂 . .
Winona forever
My friends and I were huge HP fans and we'd talking with an English accent 30 minutes straight after because it was fun.
Whooooaa
I feel bad for putting the sound on mute while admiring his beauty.
Hilarious!
He’s using a hard r which makes him sound American more then english
No he is not speaking with a British accent... lol
he was attempting a british accent. he tried his best. still love keanu though.
glad to see Keanu Reeves, Winona Ryder, Gary Oldman, Anthony Hopkins are still doing great in their careers even to this day
I think that's the joke haha
He was attempting an “English accent”
“British accent” doesn’t exist, there is no “British accent” only regional accents within Britain
Yes, it was obvious he was attempting a British accent. You're the first person I've come across who has bothered to mention that! I think he did pretty well for a young man and he certainly doesn't deserve the criticism he gets for the effort.
@@pj1995____ Hear, hear. Fuckin' hate that expression.
Oldman and Hopkins both probably thought that Keanu was a bad actor....
He sounds like Anakin Skywalker
What hurts is that his mother is English.
That swipe at Dracula's throat was months of pent up animosity. The best vampire film to date.
What a fop!
Not that bad tbh. I feel like he watched alot of wooden 80's period dramas and reflected that or something
The movie is so great but Keanu simply ruins the scenes... Winona Ryder, Anthony Hopkins and Gary Oldman are so beyond his acting that it's almost shameful.
Well yeah they're great whereas he's just good.
Deep voice Keanu could probably nail this kind of role now.
He’s a star, not an actor. You can’t give Gary Oldman Neo and you can’t give Keanu Dracula or Joker, cause they’ll both screw the roles up. They have their own fields. And his acting in this film was not even bad. It was just the voice and accent, which the producers were too stupid to notice couldn’t properly do a British accent.
Oi know weya the bahstard sleeps
To be fair so many actors mess up accents.
I remember I saw this movie for the first time when I was like 5 years old, and at that point I had literally never even met a British person and had only heard how they speak on TV here and there.
Still, all I remember is how horrid I thought Keanu’s accent is.

I'm from Spain and obviously I don't get the subtlety of many accents in English. What was the main problem with Keanu Reeves' accent? Does it still sound more American?? Can someone explain it to me in more detail? thanks a lot.
I'm from the US, and it doesn't sound like there's any of the many American accents at all under the surface, it's just that even as an American, I can tell that his attempt at an Engilsh accent is very exaggerated and over done, in a pretty much silly way. Winona did a halfway decent job. I love Keanu, but he really needs the right roles. He's not as flexible as some of the greats, like Gary Oldman. This is one of my favorite horror movies though, so I just overlook it whenever I give it a rewatch.
@@cyborgoftheyear Thank you. 🔥🔥
Reeves: dahc-ter (doctor) you mahst understand
Reeves: fee-ah (fear)
That bit is slightly more like how some Australians say it, as two syllables - fee-yah.
Vowels just aren't right. Like in "go".
Fun fact: Keanu IS british! By "Right Of Blood" (of his mom) besides they kinda speak like that in South West England (West Country)
His mother is English, she's from Essex.
@@DaisyCatToo - british is british. Besides, the whole "american accent" derived from the british West Country
Nonsense. They don't.
yikes
I've never seen anyone trying so hard and being so horrible.
Better than brad pitts accent in troy. Its almost like brad didnt try . He sounded to much like a modern American.
I didn’t know Greeks spoke British English!
As an English man this accent is not bad at all. American’s are weird.
I think it's a bit off and the acting and dialogue is stiff as well, which is probably because of how hard he's trying to do the accent.
so awful... hard to bare...
i like him, everyone does, but he is really an awful actor
His accent is terrible here, but he’s always been a legitimately good actor. The Matrix and now John Wick prove that.
@@johnreas9230 he's terrible in the John Wick movies.
@@Mr.Nyongo what 😭 no he’s not
I always thought John Wick was written as stoic as a way around Keanu's very limited acting range.
@@khathide22nd that's it exactly
He can't act to this day - lovely bloke but he's a terrible actor.
It's honestly not that bad if you think of it as more of a soft-spoken American voice. tbh when I first saw this movie, I didn't even know or think of his character as british
