Really? I love tropical beer hug. It's so light and crispy compared to other tropical ipas. It's so drinkable too. Like I could happily work outside all day and have one to wind down.
Maybe the issue is this is our first tropical IPA. We are normally reviewing stouts. If we get ahold of some other tropical IPAs, we will line them up (beer hug included) and see where it stands!

To me, Tropical Beer Hug, is pretty dry. I can easily detect the wheat over the fruit. It has a slight bitterness at the end of the sip that lingers on my palate. I don't find Tropical Beer Hug harsh or offensive. It's 9.9 abv is very sneaky and it snuck up on me without warning. After a couple a' three tall boys of Tropical Beer Hug , I found myself in an odd yet warm place. Cheers!
Good news: 4/19/2024 and a search for “beer hug review” and this is the first video that comes up. Surprisingly it’s 2 years old. My take: as I like stouts, porters, & dark beer and not so much IPAs. ( IPAs actually don’t like my gut) But I like this one. Usually bought at a gas station on the way to the in-laws single can because that 9.9% is what I need to mellow out & STFU or start talking shit I may regret later. It’s what I’d call a “One and done” beer. Drink, buzz, sober up.
Brewer bartender guy here. I buy TBH because it's very affordable, easily drinkable and VERY high abv My usual preference is wheat ales and lagers. IPA's are my buzz workhorse, although I don't like hazies very much(oversaturation in the craft beer market burned me out quick on those). Can't stand porters or stouts most of the time I understand there's preferences in beer, but TBH has too many things going for it to be trash category

You guys must have bought a bad batch. This beer is great. Bang for your buck with it being 9.9 % abv but doesn’t taste strong. Refreshing and comes down smooth. It’s definitely not trash.

I just started drinking it a few months ago I think it's my favorite beer now I used to love dark Stout but beer hug has topped it off

I think it hides the alcohol taste pretty well. No fruit taste. Didn’t even know it was tropical when I bought it. Didn’t read the can.

Ngl I only buy this when my local gas station is out of voodoo rangers. It taste like musk and smells like pee but hey it gets you tipsy hella quick

Different strokes... But we would suggest you try out Voodoo for IPA or Dragon's Milk if you are a stout guy.
Whenever cashier's ask about the taste. I tell em its false advertising.

It just tastes like a regular IPA.. if your expectation is that it's going to be fruity then you'll be disappointed. But besides that it tastes fine.
It’s my fuckin favorite ipa fuck the fruit. Almost 10% goes down like 4% and taste great
To each their own. We prefer Hazy IPA's mostly
its pretty good but its hard to make 10% taste good. Their Juicy Hug is way better at 7.3
