A Perfect Gentlemen's Luxury Dress Watch & The Classier Side Of Audemars Piguet - BA25589 Review

- Today I finally get to review the latest acquisition to my collection and the first watch I have ever owned from the legendary "holy trinity" of Swiss ultra luxury watchmakers. This is an automatic ultra thin Audemars Piguet in solid yellow gold with moonphase, day, and date complications.
After years of searching for the perfect dress watch, I finally came across a sweet spot in the haute horology vintage luxury watch market. With the main emphasis of the AP brand currently on their massively iconic and important Royal Oak, we often forget that AP also made some stunningly elegant and understated classic timepieces. In this video I review my watch, share its negatives and positive points and give an overview of Audemars Piguet.

Thanks so much to have shared this work of art with us. This is the kind of expensive watch I like: no exagerations, no fancy super thicc luxury status symbol, like the Royal Oak.
This watch is the perfect example that true beauty is found in simplicity, simmetry and gentle proportions.
Pure class for the pure dress watch, awesome piece!
My favourite channel.. As a professional drummer.. Time is my life, your channel is so good. Love all of your videos TGV! Keep up the good work!
Your AP is the definition of classic horoligical beauty Imho. It is a grail peace in every sense. Absolutely stunning - . Enjoy it TGV - I am glad you found her.
Thank you, very kind of you to say.
Best regards,
TGV
My eleven month old son and I love your vids! If he starts speaking with a British accent we may need to lay off for a while :)
LOL, I love that!
Thank you for sharing that, it just made my day.
Best regards,
TGV
And if son starts to ask for Rolex Submatiner ?)))
Jollopukki2 LOL, I have already told him that fine swiss timepieces are reserved for second birthdays. So next month he will have to settle for a lightly used Grand Seiko :)
I realize it is pretty off topic but do anybody know a good website to stream new movies online?
Great video, the history and great editing format you’ve adapted for reviews is pure class. You’re choice of Roman numerals was without a doubt the right one. Also appreciate you including the price, please remember to do this for every second hand acquisition
Thank you Oscar very kind, duly noted on price.
Best regards,
TGV
Great video. AP is, and hopefully will always be, more than the Royal Oak, in the same way that JLC aren't just the Reverso. The crowning jewel of my collection is the larger 36mm Quantieme Perpetual in platinum, but it was such a close call with this. I love the Roman numerals and that enamel dial is exquisite.
Was thinking about the perpetual calendar but you have just convinced me to get this moonphase version! Am buying myself one now and great tip re the replacement strap!!
Fantastic vid TGV - interesting AP historical coverage. What an exquisite enamel dial!
Loved the indepth information Tristano, you found a remarkable entry into the holy trinity. Here's to enjoying this watch for years to come.
I’m a new follower of your channel! I recently got a corneal injury, and I found your channel as I tried to find something to listen to instead of radio. Love your passion and your detailed info on watches! Love everything about this channel. Thank you for your videos. I’m getting a Nomos Tangente 35mm very soon btw :)
I cannot simply get over the beauty of your AP Tristano! Now when I think of AP I no longer think Royal Oak... I think of your little stunner!
Best,
Matt H.
Thank you so much Matt :D
This is the AP people should know more about!
Best regards,
TGV
I am brand new to watches, and your videos are helping me get into them. Thank you for the great work, and your love. Seeing your passion gives me passion. Great stuff, keep it up!
Really great looking watch you got yourself there. That enamelled dial is gorgeous! Also like your choice of strap.
My only issue is the hassle of changing day/date. I'd be annoyed to no end with that - oh well, first world problems I guess :)
Oh man, what a watch. Beautiful. Congrats for reaching your grail!
Mate you’ve really become the best watch channel on RUclips. Been an absolute convert since the JLC factory tour. Cheers!
That is a incredible way to cycle through the day and date what a breathtaking piece
After a pretty bad day come home to watch tgv review of beautiful watch and that to cheer up my day
the strap matches the watch perfectly in my opinion, very fine piece from AP
Bought my first expensive watch yesterday, got myself a nice submariner with black dial :) thanks for your videos
Congrats!!!
That is fantastic, may it serve you well.I would wish you a great weekend, but something tells me you already are going to have one ;-)
Thank you for sharing that,
Best regards,
TGV
I'm not sure buying a watch for its expensiveness is really the best way to go...
sashimifr Never said I did it for the price :)
"bought my first expensive watch" is quite misleading then...
sashimifr well it's my first time buying such an expensive watch :)
You are a gentlema with taste, Sir.
Vermeer the master of the beauty of silence,
for a still moment in everyday life
For a part of a second we feel eternity.
That is what we call classic. A moment valid forever.
That is why this great dutch artist fits perfectly with this watch.
I am picking one up later this week. Very excited. Have watched this video like 20 times.
Did you get it? Any idea of how much it would be to service it? ( I want one but worried the service costs would be ridiculous )
I did get it. It is awesome. I have no idea what the service fee would be, but the person I bought it from I have been buying watches for 30 years from him and any watch I buy from him is in perfect order when I get it.
I need a AP now. Beautiful watch.
Great video as always. What are your thoughts on leather straps with deployant clasps? Thinking of getting one for my omega, but have been trying to find an alternative to an official omega one (which I'm finding hard to find but also kind of pricey). Are cheaper alternatives like those from Hirsch any good?
The dial looks beautiful. Enjoying wearing your AP. TGV. ⏱🍾🥂
Bob!
Always happy to hear from you.
Thank you my friend, I hope you are well.
Best regards,
TGV
Its a great watch. A little small for my wrist, but I enjoy the styling much more than the Royal Oak. Very nice pickup. Congrats.
Hi TGV,
Great video as per usual - I was just wondering; if you were to suggest a dress watch to be worn with a suit for around the £500 mark, what would it be?
I've more or less homed in on the final choice but it would be great to hear your opinion!
Great episode as always.Whats the model number of the vacheron at 1.01?
Another great start to the weekend! .... thank you TGV. These videos bring such joy and sanctuary (irrespective of whether its a Casio or a fine AP). A beautiful piece, well done sir.
Thank you my friend, always appreciated, have a wonderful rest of the weekend.
Best regards,
TGV
Not a fan of the watch, but thoroughly enjoyed the history lesson. I do love that enamel dial face and also that you pay homage to your grandfather's legacy in your purchasing decision.
I love how you think about making your grandfather proud before you act. Thank you for sharing. I really enjoyed the video.
Thank you my friend. That means a lot to me.
Best regards,
TGV
Love it Tristano, what a beauty. It's a shame that some think this size watch a woman's size...only in this day of the 45 and 46mm watches could such a thing ever be said. I'm glad to see however, a slow shift back toward smaller more reasonably sized watches, cheers!
Nice AP TGV.. Nice video... I appreciate the true humble review and history/background. Nice review.
Well researched information on history of AP, nice close up and detail of the watch. As always, a very great review... thanks again. Bravo
Thank you very much LSK.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Best regards,
TGV
You have a nice weekend ahead too TVG.... Cheers!
In my opinion, those cut-off Roman numerals only add to the graphic quality of the dial. Let people complain at it. It is simply beautiful.
Well said, Sacha, Thank you, I like your style sir.
Best regards,
TGV
Sacha Kahn that is what first came to mind the 3 4 9 and 10 look fantastic what a beautiful time piece
Wow, great video. I personally like classic dress watches better than sports watches. This piece is one I would dream to add to my collection
The purest of the class. Great vid as always Tristano
Wear it with pride, the size looks great on you. I routinely wear 35mm watches and I'm a much larger man than you, 6'6'' and 215 lbs. It takes confidence to pull off the smaller sizes! Great job!
I rarely comment but PURE CLASS!!
Thank you YJC, especially appreciated considering the rarity of your commentary.
Best regards,
TGV
What a lovely piece. I've little reason to own a dress watch of this caliber but would happily wear it on my 6.5" wrist with a suit and tie.
Classy!
Like how you still have enthusiasm for a full spectrum of watches from Casio Digital through to a Trinity watch.
Keep up the diversity and I'll keep watching. Cheers from a snowy South west England.
Same thing for me. I don't like Royal oak at all, and you tend to forget that it's not the only thing AP does. It's good to be reminded with this beautiful piece of yours. That is such a well designed watch. I would only improve setting the date. It should happen in the same position as setting the moonphase, turning the knob in the other direction.
Lovely piece. Quite understated in its way.
Tristano, this is a very nice watch and suits you perfectly. Pure class is right.
May I suggest another strap, something without padding, maybe a matte brown croc and flat and thin, it would modernize the look. This watch deserves a $300 strap.
Wear in good health!
I thoroughly enjoyed this video! It’s a treat to get a close up look at such an incredible watch.
Thanks, TGV. Lovely to see the watch close up again. To me, it is just perfect. I would dearly love to own it. Like you I prefer the Roman numerals by far. Never part with it.
This watch is beautiful, congrats on the purchase. Would love to have something like it one day, you've really got me into these moonphases. I've been thinking about buying a nice watch for a few years and after moving to Geneva for work, I can no longer resist. Thanks to TVG for the education and entertaining videos I've been able to watch whilst trying to make a decision on what to buy. Today, I went into town to try on the Speedmaster FOIS and compare to the professional. I thought I had smaller wrists and would choose the FOIS since I prefer the dial but on the wrist I preferred the professional. Then I saw the 45th anniversary special edition Apollo 17 which I had not seen online... I can't wait to pick it up on Monday after I've spoken to the bank (card was declined lol!).
beautiful watch! perfect dressy piece
normally I don't like watches without a seconds hand but in this case, I share your opinion that it is not that important for this kind of watch (but it wouldn't bother either)
I don't understand the problem with cut off numerals, it's beautiful. congrats!
Fantastic mate....you have changed my view on wrist watches since I prescribed....I even have a skx and hope to have a Sinn soon.
Thank you Rob, that inspires me greatly to hear that.
Wear your SKX with pride my friend. Best of luck on the Sinn, you will love it!
Best regards,
TGV
Hey could you please make a video identifying glycene combat subs pre and post Invicta acquisition?
Superb.A tour de force.
Great video!
Just a question: What's the best non-japaness dress watch under $300?
Thanks, Taylor.
Hello TGV. Beautifull watch in great condition although I would not have sold that gorgeous Dubey. I wear a vintage Cauny chronograph with a 248 Landeron on it as a dress watch, and I like to wear 34, or 37 mm watches with no problem, vintages in special because in my opinion they are really elegant. Nice video as usual!.
Wonderful, superior quality of narrative review. Thanks for this Friday evening's jewel! Your watch is amazingly matches to you!
Greetings, Robert
Thank you Robert, deeply flattered and honored my friend.
Best regards,
TGV
I have quite rigorous examination - system sir, don't worry. :)
Beautiful watch and great review as always TGV.
Great vid as always TGV & thanks for enlightening me on AP ‘s history - I m not a fan of the Royal Oak , but this is just stunning - congrats!
Waited a long time for this Video, thanks as always TGV. Onward and Upwards, have a nice day. 😄
Thank you my friend, sorry for the delay, soooo many videos to make, so little time.
Best regards,
TGV
Hello TGV, great review as always...Could you please help me out to buy my first luxury watch...My budget is around 3.5 -- 5k Dollars...Is the Black bay Bronze is a good buy.??????..What would u get that budget in ur hand.???????????
That's got my name all over it . Fabulous watch , wear it often and enjoy it .
Breathtakingly gorgeous
Hi! Congrats for the channel! I was wondering if there's a risk of scratching the glass taking measurements with that tool. Cheers!
Finally the long awaited review of your lovely AP dress watch, very nice to see an AP which isn't a Royal Oak
Btw can you make videos on Vacheron Constantin?
Everyone seems to review AP and PP but not many people review VC watches.....I do know GCR has an Overseas but I'd prefer if you could review a traditional dressy VC watch which is definitive of the aura of the brand
What are your thoughts on the AP Millenary 4101? Cant seem to find dedicated RUclips reviews on it.
Big fan of the channel; you helped spark the love I now have for watches. I do have a question for you: in your research did you also manage to find a steel/silver version of this watch?
Perfect..thats all i can say bout this piece since u bought it..im speechless..if i were u, maybe i cant speak while reviewing this..such a beauty..
This watch style is not my cup of tea but I enjoyed watching this video! You have the best watch channel on RUclips!
Thank you so much, firstly for the kind words regarding the channel and secondly for being a real gent about a watch you do not like. I doff my hat to you sir!
Best regards,
TGV
Please do a review of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph. I plan to buy that watch in the near future.
cannot unsee eyes and mouth on the face of this watch
Stunning watch TGV😍 Congratulations on your achievement... wear it in good health👍
Great watch, love vintage AP
It's amazing how you've inspired many to enter this amazing hobby... Thank you
While nowhere in the class of your AP, my newest acquisition is a Chris Ward C9 Small Seconds Chronometer. It too has Roman numerals, something that is new to my collection and I'm really enjoying the classic nature of them. Your AP is a little stunner. A bit too small for my tastes but looks great on you. A beautiful addition to your collection. Well done Tristano. Ciao, John
Thank you John, congrats on the new CW, I just googled it, stunning!
Enjoy her my friend.
Best regards,
TGV
An excellent choice and a perfect size for you! The perpetual calendar version has been on my list for awhile but it will undoubtedly increase in value.
Thank you Isaac,
That perpetual is stunning! I don't blame you for having it on your list, you have great taste my friend ;-)
Best regards,
TGV
Very classy watch. I recently bought a moon phase and it's fun to wait for the moon to show up after it's been gone for a while.
In the span of 25 minutes I think I've added another grail watch to my list. Great content as always, and congrats on the purchase!
😱I adore your choice as I have the AP 25685, dual time with date and power reserve that looks like it's "sister" watch. Gorgeous enamel dial with blue steeled hands. Wear it well. Curiously I also purchased my watch in an auction ( Antiquorum).
I ADORE that version! Congrats Allan, not that you need me to say so but enjoy it.
You sir, have great taste ;-)
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
Yes, APRO. There's amazing other watches by AP! And I love the Royal Oak, it's the one for me. AP ROYAL OAK 15400 with blue or black or white dial. date. no chrono/offshore. But it's up to each person.
Great job TGV! Pure class!
I have an elementary question for you. I imagine I could look it up on Google, but I enjoy you and your channel so wanted to ask you. My limited experience with Roman numerals is that 4 is IV. So why do all watches that I've seen use IIII? I would prefer IV, but have not seen any that use that numeration.
Love this review!
Are you still planning on the complete review of the Seiko SBDC 051/053?
Thank you George,
Yes, hopefully in the coming weeks, sorry for the delay, I will get there eventually.
Best regards,
TGV
Classy watch a delight to look at
Must have researched really hard to get it for such a steal.
Enjoy the watch sir.
It's elegance personified
Beautiful watch...very jealous
We print Patek 's magazine here where I work....and Revolution.. ..infact was printing Revolution yesterday some great stuff on vintage this issue...lots if Tudor etc...right up your street...
Well done for getting part one of the Trinity
That is so cool to hear, I am very much looking forward to the next one, it will make sense when you print it ;-)
Thank you for the heads up, I can't wait.
Best regards,
TGV
The Urban Gentry ...just squirreling my way through all the file copy sheets to see if I can spot what you mean...its a big job 16 sections...and I only saw the last 5 last night....🤔🤔
And this is why I am here... To learn of wonderful watches I would have never heard about normally.
Thank you Daniel, hearing that makes it all worth it and really motivates me.
Best regards,
TGV
TGV - Congratulations on finding a watch which is really perfect for you as a dress watch. Looks great on your wrist. I think the complications add a bit of personality that bring up from a simple three handler.
Absolutely classy piece and a great find! And I definitely don't think the strap is too much. The color matches it perfectly.
Another great video sir. Great job.
Well done the watch is an A+...it's classy bredren!!! I am impressed when watch brands have unisex options because they think outside the watchcase, so to speak, when it comes to preference and individuality.
Ap used to make the flates watch in the world. 1.64mm movement is a very classy golden case. Even the numbers were painted to make it as flat as possible. The royal Oack is their "new" signature model. Not my favorite, however, the new ultra flat could be an option in stainless steel. Thank you Tristano. Like always a nice video!!
Yes!! Finally, going to enjoy this video :)
Thank you Jack=, sorry it took so long, enjoy!
Best regards,
TGV
No need to apologise. Thank you for the content and hard work you put into it all!
Finally, I've got my blue Navitimer (A23322) and I love it.
I love the faintly retro feel. The thickness; it wears not quite as thick as the measurements suggest. I'd say it wears about the same thickness as my Sinn 104 on my particular wrist.
Diameterwise, somehow, it seemed remarkably small at first sight. Even though I knew how big the measurements said it was. At 41.8mm, on MY big wrist, it's a small watch.
But I'm still loving it.
Fantastic! So glad to hear, enjoy it my fiend and a massive congrats.
I just put mine on a few hours ago strangely enough.
Welcome to the Navi club my friend.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
The piece isn't to my taste but I appreciate it and appreciate your enthusiasm for it too. Well delivered review, great work as always.
I wondered how it would wear, but it suits you pretty well. Wear in good health.
Absolutely pure class.....
Classy dress watch. I'm not sure if I would have went roman numerals or applied gold indices, but both are unique. It will be interesting to see if this is a long term acquisition for you. In the meantime, hope you get to enjoy it on nice occasions!
PS: The size of this watch looks perfect for your hand.
Superb piece that will bring you years of pleasure.
By the way, you're not gonna put a NATO on that, right right?!? (me staring at you with my Alex from "A Clockwork Orange" face). ;D
Thank you Luca,LOL, as they "hell no" regarding the nato. My rule, in case you missed it is, if it is dressy with romans, no nato!
Yes, even I draw the line somewhere you will be glad to know.
Best regards,
TGV
So dang beautiful, that moon phase is marvelous! I have the same trouble with my Timexs, no quick set date so I have to move the hands as well
Enjoy it well
Thank you Simba,
Great to hear from you, I hope you are well.
Best regards,
TGV
The Urban Gentry I'm great! I see you're doing great as well.
New to your channel. Love the review and watches. Could you review the Luminox-Atacama-Field Day Date-1924 ... Friend has one of these and it is great looking but would like to know your opinion of this watch as well as Luminox.. Seems like I am seeing more and more of them out there.
Although I do not share your opinions about this watch it’s a nice time piece, thank you for sharing 🙂
What a stunning piece! Your grandfather would be proud.
Thank you sir,
Very kind of you to say.
Best regards,
TGV
*slaps a nato on*
Great Watch! Wonder how much would servicing cost?
Dear TGV, what do you record in terms of -+sec/day of this watch? Regards, Ferenc
Amazing piece! You should get the caseback engraved with your family's crest.
Dude I just wanna say your vids are fantastic!! I love watches!! I really wish I had the ripley watch!! That’s my favorite of all time!!! You are a lucky man!!!
Thank you so much,
Best regards,
TGV
