- Weltha "Madge" Cowles is my Step Great Grandma. She was an original Rosie Riveter!!!
I only got to meet Madge a couple times when I was very little. She was truly generous, kind, and an overall amazing woman.
She worked at the Willow Run Bomber Plant in Michigan alongside her father Wayne Mead building B-25 Bombers during WW2. Three of her brothers were oversea's fighting in WW2; Harold, Howard, & Herbert Mead.
Madge soon met my Great-Grandpa Bob Cowles. Bob was a widower with 2 sons named Loren & Bill Cowles (Bill is my Grandpa). Madge & Bob married on November 10, 1951. They had 4 daughters together; Annie, Jan, Beth, & Thelma Cowles. Their family of 8 was complete. Bob & Madge were married for 58 years before Bob died in 2009. She was famous for her pies, cinnamon rolls, & baked bread! She always wanted to make everyone smile! She was an amazing woman who won't be forgotten.
