I've always been meaning to read the Golden Era King books. The last one I read was Salem's Lot, and while there were some good things about it, overall it was bloated and directionless. Maybe something like this would be better.

I did like this one more than Salem's Lot. But I'll warn you that this one also has bloat, for the size of story it was telling. All his older ones do.
