2. Alternate simple leaves with entire margins
3. Urn or bell shaped pink flowers
4. Small, apple-like fruits with red flesh and hard seeds

What do you know about the edibility of the manzanita flowers? I’m thinking of making syrup or jelly out of it because they’re so sweet and fragrant.
I have at least two books that say manzanita flowers are edible, and I have seen someone on Facebook post a picture of manzanita flower syrup that they made, so you should be good.

Strawberry trees also have a very similar bark to the Manzanita, which makes sense as they are closely related. Good news is that Strawberry tree berries are also edible.
