Hearing Hebert talk about what he wanted out of the cake was great, he's essentially wanting his bridal dress moment but with cake!
yess 🥰
YB: “..for a sweet lover like Herbert”
Herbert: ☺️🥰🤭😍
YB: “..a sweets lover not a sweet lover”
Herbert: 😧😦😭
💀💀💀
Ship you guys soooo much 💕
3 tier: Marble, strawberry and red velvet
🤣🤣
Cake maker here - while the look of the cake is important, the flavour is key. Smells and flavours will be remembered more keenly than sights, particularly in a day where you're taking in so much visually.
Find a flavour that makes you smile, and even if you only eat a bite, you can smile again whenever you taste that again.
Exactly!
Awe, that does seem sweet
flavor that makes me smile, that's so cute 😍
YB about the marble cake: “…and it looks pretty.”
Herbert: “Like you.”
❤❤🥰❤❤ Awwww!!!
🥰🥰
I think a design similar to the 11:16 photo would look stunning as a wedding cake, something not too bright but with colors that compliment each other. Also with the flowers, they could include Korea & Germany's national flower :)
omg the national flowers!! that's such a good idea thank you! 😍
I had the same thought about the national flowers! Roses (US national flower), mugunghwa (Korean national flower), and cornflower (German national flower) would all look great together too!
@@YBChangOfficial noooo nononono be very careful the Kornblume can be a nazi symbol!!
@@hashtagmate oh shit D:
We went the opposite way: minimalist cake decor on a cheesecake that brought down the house. But we're both introverts, we had a very small wedding. That marble cake looked excellent.
omg I love cheesecake too hehe
The "I like the Mousse" from Hebert and "I like the marble" from YB was so cute and you each like a piece of the whole together, that would be a fantastic wedding cake!!
it was so yummy!
@@YBChangOfficial I can’t wait to see your wedding video to see what y’all pick!!
Now I want to get married just for the cake tasting part. It looks like a dream.
You can arrange cake tastings sans wedding. A lot of bakeries do taster/sampler boxes. Highly endorse!
@@Lammington2 ooo!!!
@Lammington2 I had no idea! Totally doing that for my next birthday!
Herberts response at 0:35 was hilarious and reminds me of all the silly dad job or puns my boyfriend makes 😂😂 you guys are honestly so stinking cute together and your banter back and forth is not only a loving couple but that of best friends and that's what it should be like 💜 goals all the way!!
Much love from Arizona 💜💜
aww thank you! 🥰 happy holidays!
damn, Herbert coming in with the cat litter dry humor like a machine! and YB sneaking in the cake joke. Herbert looked so proud LOL
LOL
i agree with herbert that the cake should be something special. i mean i can't taste them but judging by the flavours they seem pretty usual. as a baker, im surprised to see there wasn't anything unique.
wishing you the best of luck with everything 💕
thank you 🥰
My brain auto-filling sentences after watching too much Worth It: "3 different fillings at 3 drastically different price points to find out which one is worth it, at it's price". xD
My wedding cake was vanilla with a mixed fruits/whipped cream filling in the middle. It was very light and fluffy. ^^
I love the lovey dovey-ness between you two. Cheers to the happy couple!
🤣🤣 I'm having worth it edit PTSD hahaha
I really love this series that you are doing! Wedding planning can be so stressful and I really enjoy watching you showing us each components of your wedding! 😄
aww I'm glad you like it!! 🥰
9:22 the way Herbert looks at YB. Man is definitely in love.
🥰🥰
I'm more of the traditional with the fresh strawberries. I do love chocolate cake but wouldn't be my first choice for a wedding cake. Also love the idea with the ocean vibe for the outside of the cake. Also, at the around the 6:14 mark when Herbert has his piece of cake fall off his fork, he just looked like a sad little puppy. Then he ate all of rest of the leftover samples. You can certainly feel the love between the two of them.
I love strawberries too!!🤣
I love strawberries too!!🤣
I agree with Herbert - none of the cakes seemed to wow you! Don’t settle!
I love the idea of the fresh strawberries - I find that they really cut the richness a cake/frosting may have and prevents someone from growing tired of eating it because of the variety of flavor/textures.
One thing I would point out though - you may have done this, but I would ask your guests if they have dietary restrictions and try to accommodate them in the food/dessert if possible!
yes for sure!!
In the intro when he leaned his head against yours ❣️❣️❣️you two look so much in love and so perfect and happy together ❣️❣️god bless!!!!
🥰🥰 happy holidays!
Ask at the bakery if they can do a chocolate cake with a fresh cherry / cherry mousse filling - because then it would be a bit like a black forest cake that harkens to Herbert’s German heritage and yet are evocative of YB’s Korean heritage too!
yum!!
The evolution of YB now looking into Herbert's eyes when they cheers compared to a few years ago is just perfect. It's second nature to look into his eyes now 😍😍
🥰🥰
The most important thing to me as a guest for cake is that it’s not too sweet. People that like sweet things will still eat a cake that’s not overly sweet, but people that don’t like overly sweet things will really dislike a heavily sweet cake. So I would go for whichever cake has a little bit lighter of a sweetness. I actually think the marble and the strawberry are two really great options. Maybe for the third layer pick something that’s unique to you guys or means some thing special to you may be inspired by some where you traveled or something like that?
yess I don't like super sweet either!
I think more people want flavor over looks.
Traditional or unique doesn’t matter as long as it’s delicious
The vanilla with real strawberries would be my go to as a wedding guest :) they all looked so yummy!!
I'm not so low I'm engaged 😂😂😂 Herbert never disappoints!
I would like anything the couple wants! I hope your wedding planning is going well and thank you for taking us through the process of it!! ❤
thank you for watching! 🥰
The vanilla and strawberry looked amazing. It's my favourite kind. The marble looked awesome too.
“You’re the content” that got me. Best wishes you guys!
🥰🥰
0:39 You guys are not married yet and herbert is already prepping himself with dad jokes😁😁
🤣🤣
For my wedding we actually didn't do a big cake. We had a small one for cutting and then cupcakes with a couple different flavours. But since you're doing a big cake, I think having it taste good is important. Yes, the look is what people see but if it doesn't taste good then it's definitely not going to get finished. It could also depend on how long your reception is because if people can go back for cake during dancing than I would say that the taste of quite important.
I agree! :)
Our cake was Neapolitan- one layer of vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate in each tier. It was fun, but familiar enough to please everyone!
ahh yum!!
I agree 100% with both of you taste and looks are so important! I hope Hebert gets to experience a cake that hits him
I adore you two and am so happy for you! This was such a great video.
thank you 🥰
The intro 😂 you guys are the cutest!! ❤
😂😂
I had a vanilla/fresh bluberrycake with a cream cheese frosting, a coffee and walnut cake and a lemon drizzle cake for my wedding cakes. The blueberry is my favourite cake since a child and it was perfect - I think it is a hummingbird recipe. I do have to agree with YB though, everyone including myself was so full from everything else that we only had a bite of the cakes and essentially they were there as decoration and to fill the cutting of the cake tradition (and to gift to people after).
some people said cake is their favorite part, I should take it more seriously 🤣
My cake was classic biscuit dough (flavor) with alternated flavors per layer : two layers with prosecco butter cream and two with like a raspberry coulis. Delicious 😊
yum!!😍😍
wishing you both nothing less than the best and very best! you've both been amazing at sharing content and YB your kind heart shines thruuu🤍🌌✨
aww thank you! happy holidays 🥰
I think the marble cake looked generally good 🥹 I'm not a huge fan of fruit flavored cake but I think plain vanilla or chocolate is solid 👌
Love following along with your wedding content since I'm also in the process of wedding planning for October 2023. Literally just talked about cake with my fiancé the other day, and this video is helping to get the wheels turning a bit. 🤔
omg congratulations on your engagement 🥰 hope the planning is going well!!
@YB Chang Thank you! 😊 So far so good and not too stressful yet. Nice to have a little break with the holidays, though. 😉
I’ve been to a few weddings and like YB said the cake is mostly for decor. I only ate a piece of cake to not be rude, but I couldn’t finish it. So excited for the two of you!
that's how I felt!!
I hope you two have a WONDERFUL holiday season! Your wedding vibes always make me SO happy!
thank you 🥰🥰
I just ADORE you two
thank you 🥰🥰
"Sweet lover" 🤣 Honestly I'm with you here too YB. I'm not much of a sweets person, and most people are full and/or drunk by the time the cake comes out. A nice little bite of a traditional cake would be perfect. Basic vanilla for the win!
i like the basic route! 🥰
Out of those options I’d pick the marble for sure! My favorite cake is red velvet with that oh so good cream cheese!! Damn now I want cake lol 🙃🤗🫶🏻
haha get some 🤣
I love the idea of making the cake an ocean kinda vibe it looks really cool and from the video i think i would choose the flavor that herbert chose. i like chocolate, like alot
we can mix it up! 😍
Aw how cute and sweet 💕 the wedding cakes 🎂 🍥 🧁 looks lovely
🥰🥰
@@YBChangOfficial hope you had a great Christmas 🎄!
I think it's great when you can choose more than one flavor. I would suggest making one flavor a crowd pleaser which everyone likes and the other one a little bit more special. Some ppl like to try new stuff out and the other ones can just get the more neutral one. So it can be special and still be liked by everyone :)
yes! 🥰
For my wedding we also did a three tiered cake and each tier was a different flavor and they were all amazing...5 years later, I still think of how yummy it was lol. Our flavors were, Lemon cake with Bavarian cream and Lemon Puree, Almond Cake with Amaretto mouse, and finally Vanilla cake with Bavarian Cream and Strawberry puree.
omg 😍
So exciting! I got married this year, we had a small chocolate raspberry naked cake with flowers, and then sheet cakes of chocolate/cream cheese and lemon/strawberry
yumm! congratulations 🥰
@@YBChangOfficial you too!
I completely agree with style over flavor of cake, as a center piece for the reception, presentation matters. I do love a good marble cake tho.
herbert is so funny i love these videos
If you are doing three layers you should do a German/Herbert's favorite flavor of the cake, a Korean/YBs fav, and the top tier could be traditional American flavor or something because it's where you met!
yess!
I don't know if it's possible, but have you guys considered the marbled cake and pairing it with the strawberry mousse filling? I feel like it would be super tasty and not too overwhelming. I love watching your videos, they are so nicely made. You're turning into my comfort youtuber :)
that would be so yummy! and aww I'm honored 🥰
Marble chocolate mousse for my vote! Even if the cake is dry the mousse fixes that
i love how you finished all of them right away instead of a second try out haha
hahaha 🤣
My sister had a 4 tier cake with different flavours. Traditional vanilla and strawberry, chocolate and vanilla, coffee, and an almond cherry. All 4 tiers were delicious and I had a piece of each plus took extra home.
ahh that sounds amazing!
Maybe mix the flavours you liked, the marble cake but with the strawberry filling :D delicious
You are so so cute omg ❤❤❤ ㅎㅎ
thank you 🥰🥰
You are welcome my queen 👸
🎉 🥳🎊
Cheers from San Diego California 🇺🇸
happy holidays 🥰
The look of the cake is usually more memorable to than the flavor but if you want both to be memorable for guests, I suggest, liqueur-infused cake. That’s always been the memorable one for me. 😉
omg yess
The cake is usually my favorite part of the wedding lol
oo okay we gotta take it seriously 😁
@@YBChangOfficial I’m sure your wedding will have a lot of magical parts 😁
The marble looks yummy
Definitely shop around to as many bakeries and cakeries you can find. If you’re not fully “in love” with your wedding dessert, don’t order it. You have time, but also, do NOT sweat the small stuff!
true true!!
You could do the marble cake with strawberries in it!
I managed to try all the cakes in the weddings I went to. I do remember how beautiful the cakes were but I also remember if they tasted good or bad :p We went for a simple 2 tier cake which the venue cut up and boxed for our guests since we also had desserts in our menu. Our guests really appreciated having cake to have for tea the next day.
haha I guess as long as they're decently good its a success! hehe
You can always ask your Baker to make the Marble cake with the Strawberry. Both Vanilla/Chocolate cake go well with Strawberry.
I love the idea of marble with a simple vanilla buttercream. But I live the idea of doing three different flavors for the three layers. Maybe two more simple flavors and then a more untraditional flavor for the top. Like a peanut butter and jelly or pistachio honey or coconut :)
i've never tried a pb&j cake! That sounds amazing though haha
I ALWAYS eat the wedding cake haha. I think that while yes it's nice to have a pretty cake to look at, if it tastes bad it's not worth it, but I totally get wanting to have a pretty cake, that's half the fun!
I think that a lot of people don't like chocolate cake, at least in my circles (i love it, personally) and also it's harder to pair flavors with, I wouldn't go with that.
One cake that is sturdy, subtle but also has a bit of a surprise is a coconut milk base cake. It tastes a tiny bit like coconut but it's no cry like the one that uses shredded coconut can be.
I think having a fruit filling can be refreshing and balance the sweetness. Maybe a coconut + lemon based filling could be good? Or a lemon cake with raspberry filling? It's not traditional but it si nice.
I would have gone with the traditional + strawberries probably but if Herbert wants to be blown away, blow the guy away :D Hopefully your baker offers some fun combinations. I'd love a follow up video!
I would love a fruit filling!! thank you for your input 🥰🥰
Well he is the one for u except he's a comedian goals😂
Chocolate for black, strawberry for red, and apricot? For yellow for the German flag colors
Traditional w/chocolate 🤗🤗🤗🤗
My St. Louis heart just swelled with pride! :) Gooey butter cake is SO GOOD. It makes up for our pizza style, which, as an Italian American, I am not a fan of.
What up my neighbor!! Im also am from the St Louis area!
Same here! I love seeing other St. Louisans in the comments! I jumped when I heard gooey butter cake!!
@@alaina2616 not gonna lie I never heard of it till I moved up here lol
i love it SO much!!
@@YBChangOfficial so does my sister since we moved to the Midwest! It’s her new favorite especially gooey butter cookies..
taste over look but if you can get both... even better
It's probably too late to make changes, but subbing in the strawberry mousse in the Marble cake would probably be the perfect combination
not too late!! great ideaaa
I think marble is the best way to go. And i agree, looks are more important, the taste of the cake has too be good, but ive never been to any wedding where i expect the flavor to be anything fancy.... in fact i went to a wedding with an odd flavored cake and it was a disappointment lol
haha yeah I think more basic flavor the better 🤣
Since you guys can have different flavours, i think it would be good include a more refreshing flavour (e.g., lemon) since guests might be full by the end and it might too much and too full with a rich-flavoured cake. As a guest, i would prefer a unique-flavoured cake because I'm adventurous and it's a great opportunity for me to try something i won't buy when i crave for cakes, but to cater to the masses I feel that a traditional cake might win more votes. Thanks for sharing this process with us! 😁
thank you for watching!! 🥰🥰
Goof morning! So happy to catch your videos!
thank you for watching 🥰🥰
We did a chocolate cake with a cookies & cream filling and it was AMAZING
omg YUM
Please try other fruit flavors like raspberry chocolate or cherry chocolates because I am allergic to strawberries 🍓 ❤
oh no!! okay i will 🥰
For the theme maybe acombination between a german castle and korean national flower
great idea!!
you could do traditional flowers from US, germany, and korea! just a thought
yess!🥰
i don't really like cake but recently was watching beat bobby flay's holiday episodes and the one had a buche de noel with a passion fruit filling that the judges loved, that sounded tasty.
passion fruit!! that sounds fancy
Wedding photographer here- wedding guests in general crussshh desserts at weddings. Especially if what the couple has chosen is popular and not just a sheet cake from the grocery store or something.
good to know!!🥰
Traditional is really nice, but consider a light lemon cake for one of the tiers? Honestly looks are great but I love when people rave about the taste of a wedding cake as well. It should be both. It's your wedding and all of it should be tasteful ;) Trust me guests will appreciate a delicious cake and it is something your sharing.
that sounds good!!🥰
Marble cake is super German! Just put some rum aroma in that sucker and that's the perfect cake!
perfect!!
I would either do different flavors per tier or do the marble cake and add strawberries, that would be delish. Maybe they can create a tiny cake for you two to try combining flavors 🙂
good idea!!
For a tasty but unusual cake make one tier spice cake . Try it and you might be surprised.
spice cake!! :o
herbert is like hell nah LOL
@@YBChangOfficial Tell him it's not the hot kind of spice .
We had a vanilla cake with cookie dough butter cream!!
yum!!
If I was at a wedding and was served a Matcha / Strawberry cake I would lose my mind (in a good way). I’m probably not the norm though! 😆 I think it’s nice to do one layer that is what you like even if it’s not as broadly appealing. Then the other two layers can be more “standard”.
omg I would love matcha, but not everyone would like it 🤣
Hi YB and Herbert, I'm pretty sure that my fiance would pick the cake cause i'm not into sweets but if I had to choose it would be an exotic cake flavor cause why not, im not into sweets 😁
I could do one of the tiers a special flavor 🥰
@@YBChangOfficial that's even better
At my wedding we had a Vermont maple-soaked sponge cake and our guest were obsessed. I would say try some options you wouldnt think of just because you can :P
whoa!!!
Now I want cake. These all looked delicious, but I have to agree with Herbert in that the flavor is important. True, many people will be full after the meal, but there will be dancing and other merriment, so they will become hungry again soon. For that, you want a cake that will taste as good as it looks. Cake designers will ensure the cake is beautiful, regardless of flavor.
As for flavors I like? I like the idea of a marble cake, but I prefer a flavored buttercream to a mousse, because a mousse can very quickly go from "pleasing mouth-feel" to "gumming up your mouth" very quickly. Flavors-wise? I do like sweets, but I find that, as I age, I prefer my sweets to have more than just sugar. I like tangy and bitter to compliment the sweetness. A dark chocolate ganache adds complexity and tones down the sweetness. As for cake flavor? I think it'd be better if you and Herbert discussed what flavors you enjoy in your daily life, then ask the bakery if they do anything like that. Let's say you both like cherries, for example. A vanilla cake with dark chocolate ganache/frosting and a cherry filling might be very delicious!
Those are my two cents. I may have to bake a cake this weekend. I blame you, LOL.
true true! and LOL hope you had some cake ;)
@@YBChangOfficial No cake, but I did make brownies! They were delicious.
So fun! Thanks for showing a cool local bakery to check out :)
yess I love local bakeries way more 🥰
The most interesting wedding cake I experienced was a friend who had a 3 tier cake but the bottom 2 tiers were made of cardboard and it was just the top tier that was edible. This way they could do the cutting of the cake and do the pics but since they didn't care about dessert it was wayyyy cheaper.
interesting!! not a bad idea hahaha
@YB Chang: love your videos!❤️
thank you!! 🥰
I would go for a traditional wedding cake. It'll be a great dessert after all the foods from the main courses.
yess loved the traditional!
have the try guys make it 😏 what could go wrong?
off I go to watch the illusion cakes episode 😂😂😂
honestly though, i hardly ever eat the cake at a wedding but red velvet is always a winner as 1 tier option
🤣🤣 omg that would be so great
@@YBChangOfficial it would be hilarious!! thank you so much for the reply as well ❤
I can’t wait to see the Korean German ocean themed three tier cake with columns and flowers 😊😊😊 Especially if you cut into it and it’s the colors of the flags!!! JK ❤ I would actually do lemon because I don’t like anything super sweet. Most wedding cake is not very good to be honest. I think the mousse is interesting and I think the marble cake was a good idea!!
LOL the flag colors would be hilarious! 🤣
Taste absolutely matters, coming from a wedding guest!! 😀
i want it to be perfect 🥰🥰
that would be absolutely so funny if one of the layer has black-red-yellow inside haha
🤣🤣
You two are so cute 😍
🥰🥰
