3:10 if you're trolling how are you keeping it 100. Total contradiction. & How can you you judge an entire promotion YOU ADMIT YOUVE NEVER WATCHED/DONT KNOW, off 1 clip 🤔 I can post tons of bad wwe clips. Just look at Becky's recent goggle sunglasses/space sunglasses 🤣
@@akadvcyoubeezy6748 you're comparing sunglasses to really bad wrestling? I hope you understand how shocking stupid you've made yourself look.
@@KeepinIt100OFFICIAL I'm Gen X guys. You are 100% correct and AEW is a weird show. Not much episodic television and 39 dives over the top rope in a 2 hr period. Matches where everybody has to get their shit in. Talented but gets old . Who are half of these Indy wrestlers who don't seem like they're ready for TBS or TNT?Who is that woman fighting Thunder Rosa? Why? Why are the big names not wrestling each other? It's a weird show. These snowflakes don't get we want AEW to succeed. We love the business. We know crap when we see it. I refereed for an Indy promoter here in MO in the early 90s. The guy who Glen Jacobs started with. Saw him before Smokey Mountain. My buddy was in wrestling school in Texas with Steve Austin. Used to set up rings and take them down. Love the show. I enjoyed Konan and Disco. Disco was hilarious and really good worker. Konan was fun to watch. All different styles in the ring he could do. Both great workers. These podcasts are great guys . God bless you
Wanted to add something else for Disco. Since the curtain call it's hard to be a good heel in today's wrestling. It's also not easy to do the everybody messes with you routing and you can laugh at yourself. Most people could not pull that off and be entertaining. Disco is so good at this and always was. I loved the Jackie match and I respected you back then for that. I know it wasn't easy at that time. I respect the willingness to put someone over. it's lacking in this business. Like the Don Callis stuff with Disco. That was fantastic guys. Good comedy is hard to do in wrestling. Bad comedy is easy just as bad wrestling is easy. Sorry to be so long winded guys. Watched wrestling since the 70s here in St.Louis and have about a TB of old wrestling on a hard drive. You guys are my favorite podcast. I like Bischoff too. Ok I'm done now. Thanks for the years guys.

Hey Kenny, maybe don't call Disco "enhancement talent" while you're a top guy and your show can't even draw 1/8th of the TV ratings his show used to get. You don't have what it takes to be a top guy.
And he gave himself his own company championship lol unreal
@@GMMANN419 Kenny is an epitome of mid carder
Wcw never got 8.0 ratings bro. Stop being a mark.
Kenny Omega is so overrated. He does the goofiest shit and is a terrible booker for the women.
Disco Inferno couldn't draw anyone, you have to have big level talent to draw people in order for them to unknowingly see Disco
AEW marks can't even respond to criticism without an ad hominem attack, I.e. calling Disco a jobber, calling Cornette out-of-touch, it's an easy and convenient way to ignore criticism from two people that DEFINITELY know more than them about the wrestling business.
Especially since their boss offered Cornette a job.
In the wrestling world there are wrestlers, Bookers, and Fans....wrestlers can't be Bookers booking matches for the fans. It's like saying cops knowing how to do Surgery you know Doctor work 🤌
Not all of us. I love aew so I’m a mark. I also love listening to these guys. To be fair, I would not call disco a job guy, but parts of his career were dolph ziggler adjacent in that hey, this is an established mid card guy that can sell so let’s have him “job” to someone on their way up. That’s an important role in wrasslin. But no, the inferno was not a jobber lol
I mean up until recently I've preferred AEW over WWE (I'm kind of neutral on both recently), but a lot of the AEW internet fans are tribalistic af. I remember one time having one bad thing and like 10 good things to say about the lead up to full gear last year and you'd think I was the most horrible human being in the world with some of the responses I got.
@@mapsgoonthewall5396 so disregard the responses and move on.
kenny fucking omega is one of the most delusional wrestlers on the planet. Disco was so much more popular than he ever will be despite his posion the card. Modern wrestling will never be able to compare to the old stuff period.
I like Kenny Omega but to think that Disco was not ever over has to make you wonder about his knowledge of wrestling history. Not to mention that the TV title storylines had more people interested than any of the storylines involving AEW's current TV titles.
it never fails to amaze me that people complain that Disco talks a lot while hosting a podcast. Isn't that kind of the entire of a podcast? so that the host talks?
Justin Credible said that all they younger guys dont listen to the veterans at all.
Like Russo said, the MARKS made it to the ring.
Some of that is ignorance and part paranoia. Wrestlers are always wondering how genuine the advice they get is. Is it to help or sabotage you. It can be hard to tell.
@@1983jcheat While I can see your perspective, it's hard to say a guy like JR is trying to take your spot. To me, they should be able to know that guys like JR and William Regal ain't trying to take their spot but help them to get higher on the card. I truly believe them not having a solid, training facility really is hurting them badly
@@daniellehinton463 I was speaking on the critism of the veterans who still actively wrestle. I agree Jim Ross and Regal aren't trying to screw them.
Was Russo speaking out of personal experience?
@@DirkTheReunification
Yeah, he said that a lot of the young guys in TNA were hard to deal with.
They thought they knew everything already there is to know and all they cared about is putting together long, garbage high-spot matches.
Konnan and Disco both have something Kenny don’t have: The Basics.
Granted, yeah, Disco and Konnan were mid-carders. Mid-carders during the era of the NWO, Konnan even becoming part of the Wolfpack.
Kenny, on the other hand, couldn’t make it through WWE training. He only succeeds in Feds that cater to him and let him do his bullshit maneuvers.
Pro Wrestling is meant to look legitimate. Wrestlers are supposed to hide the fact that they are cooperating. Kenny, and the Bucks for that matter can’t sell for shit and all of their big spots show obvious cooperation. That’s why they suck.
Yep, you could tell him to go out there and do a basic ten minute match with nothing flashy involved and he wouldn't be able to do it.
@John Lindsy Jobbers/Enhancement talent are only there to lose to both mid-carders/main eventers. Jobbers don't go in the history books, was day workers, had full time jobs outside the ring, never cut promos, was usually local talent.
Konnan was a mid-carder in WCW/TNA but he was a World Champion in Mexico. When he says he could make sure Disco is taken care of in Mexico, he's not lying.
@John Lindsy Ah yes, I agree with you about Konnan and the US and not having the "it" here. I just didn't see your point about him being a "jobber". He was always reminding me of a sidekick ala Robin to Batman. Now granted with the behind the scenes shenanigans that go over in WWE/WCW, who knows?
ROH, AJ Styles and NJPW is what made Kenny famous. Kenny left WWE training due to Hugh Morrison screwing out a lot of potential wrestlers, only Miz sticks around because he was dedicated to WWE.
@@captaincat4361 Brooklyn Brawler was the most recognizable wrestler in the federation, he almost beat Triple H back in the day.
Not gonna lie... that dude has not impressed me since he's wrestled on AEW. I've seen a handful of his NJPW matches and while entertained, I wondered how and why they kicked out so damn much. I've watched wrestling since I was 8 and am now 43 and I'm used to a certain believability and sense in wrestling. It seems these guys (Kenny included) don't like recognizing how moves should fuckin hurt. They pop up and kick out and that's one of the things that's taken me out of wrestling these last few years. I don't watch hardcore anymore but more casual. Kenny has shown even as an adult that should be mature, he's still sensitive and insecure to criticism which is fuckin ridiculous.
Tag team match of the year when he tagged with Hangman against the Bucks and 5 star matches with Bryan and Moxley
@@johnnyhazard6305 Nobody cares about Meltzer's lame star system. Every Bucks match gets 5+ stars and Kenny's are not far off. It's just Meltzer jacking off his favorite lame wrestlers.

Kenny believes he can blend anime and a wrestling game into his performances
@@lionheart3429 that much I know. I actually hoped he would go to NXT for a year or 2 but was more thrilled with him starting in AEW. I just wasn't impressed is all. I expected more🤷🏾♂️ Maybe that's my fault.
Years back when NJPW was really starting to get hot i thought was a fan of Kenny Omega, but very shortly after that i realized I was just a fan of The Cleaner gimmick concept, and Kenny was little more than a drama school ballerina.

Omega has nothing on Disco Inferno, at all. DI was performing to TV audiences in the peak of popularity. Omega does his "art" in front of the same small SAFE TV audience.

@@pleaseshutup7053 only because pro wrestling fans are at their dumbest now. And will throw money at anything. No matter how terrible.
Kenny Omega's matches are often unwatchable. Disco's matches may not be classics, but they were often entertaining.
I don’t agree with everything Disco says but I remember growing up and watching him wrestle on WCW at time when pro wrestling was much harder to get into and you had to be able to learn to survive. A mid card guy back then is better than all the modern top level talent. I do find Disco to be a lot hard on this modern era, sometimes it’s needed and other times context of time has to be in play, tryin to compare eras with audiences watching etc isn’t really fair because the industry is different today.
The best disco match was disco vs Goldberg a true masterpiece
Why would anyone care what omega thinks? The guy is abysmal

I've said before on here that I never watched DI in WCW but since finding this podcast a few years back I can honestly say..... DISCO is more over than 90% of the AEW roster.... all 200 of them
He's more over than most of WWE minus the Attitude era guys like Edge and Cena. Honestly had they not spent billions pushing Cena then Disco and Konnan would still be bigger than him
Typical AEW marks if you dint say AEW is the best ever you get attacked. I’m a WWE fan over 30 years but I can criticize them all the time but if I question AEW people act like I slapped their mom in the face
all I get from this is that Kenny Omega secretly knows that Disco is right, he just can't handle that Disco is right.
WCW Saturday Night drew higher ratings that AEW Dynamite
HBK: "Ghosting Marty & Sunny were the best decisions of my life"
It has been tho
Joshi gals have been vastly overrated since the 90's. There was certainly some talent there, but their fans would go overboard and say they were better workers than Eddy Guerrero, Bret Hart, Misawa, Fujinami, etc. It was hard to take them seriously as anything more than contrarians or white knights.
Now the talent level in Japan has diminished and the hype around the Joshi gals is even worse.
Yeah they were too stiff and having too many early retirees because of it
Yeah that's always been a creepy situation. Meltzer and others gush about these girls but when you hear these people talk you know its past fandom. They think no one over there can do any wrong and go on and on about the sport and respect and all that. Meanwhile half the live crowd and their larger home/tape viewing audience are hoping to get used ring gear from these girls or send strange fan mail trying to buy used worn wrestling gear. Have to wonder what the fandom is and if you would really want it.
@@TheEWFX29 I subscribed to the WON from '92 to '05. I think Dave's fandom of the Joshi gals didn't have any hidden agenda. He appreciated their work, but he wasn't going overboard on their talent like many of the diehard tape trading fans were back then.
It's creepy to watch Meltzer today having to defend anything that Kenny Omega says or does and this is just another example of it. I'm no fan of the WWE by any means, but the women wrestlers there are better athletes, are safer to work with (sans Nia Jax), have far better hand-eye coordination, far better footwork, far better timing and when left alone...have far better psychology. What the WWE women generally have to do takes far more skill. What the Stardom girls do takes far more of a toll on their bodies. Somebody like Charlotte Flair or Becky Lynch could more easily adapt to Stardom and put out great matches than Kamitani could adapt to the WWE and their style.
Of course, you could have probably said the same about Misawa trying to adapt to the WWE in the 90's. But if you met somewhere in between like old time St. Louis territory wrestling or AWA style wrestling or even Mid-Atlanta or Florida territory style wrestling, Misawa's talent and skill would easily shine through.
@@Richie3Jack Thankfully your a real fan who is tempered and fair with your reasoning and appraisal. I don't think Dave is part of the creepy fan problem though sometimes I wonder. Like when he says Japanese audiences are much better and smarter fans than American fans are because they cheer at the right places?!?!? He does have a semi troubling fascination for all things Japan that does make one wonder about his mental state sometimes. But the way they treat those girls over there and then make then quit at 28, i think before 30 i know which is changing thankfully, which is a bit of a troubling set up. Its seems they are treated like animals to perform and when they start looking a bit old they are made to step down. Women as girls is a big thing in Japan. I am no expert and quite out of my element on this subject I must confess, but as an outside observer it can be troubling to read about in some instances.
I still remember Disco's feud with Raven and his flock...it was good shit.
Disco was mid card to upper mid card talent during the largest ratings era in wrestling. So there’s a good chance, more people know who Disco is over Omega. People more spend more money on wrestling today but the Disco and Konan’s era is still being talked about today after over 20 years. Were they bigger stars in their era vs Omega in his era? No. But it’s the old saying. Big fish in a small pond or a fish in the ocean. Also IMO, Disco was a bigger star than Lance Storm
If we had replica title belts everywhere back in the day just as much money would've been spent. I would have killed for a big gold replica back in 96. 97....now I have several.

I got into wrestling through WCW in the 90s, and Konnan and Disco were both over huge. Younger people who didn’t grow up watching WCW think it was all just Goldberg, Sting, and the nWo. I lived those days in the 90's and have been a wrestling fan since 1981 when I first saw wrestling at 4 -5 years old and I will say this: Disco was over like Rover when he had the title around his waist! He was used as a mid-carder but he was a great draw on the card! He was entertaining, egotistic in character, (which works well with certain wrestlers and is a compliment) his entrance was Solid Gold fun, he can work, he can bump, he can SELL, and was good in promos. Mid-card, or not, he was one of the reasons why I watch WCW in the 90's along with Konnan who was over too and a solid great technical worker who looked like a heavyweight with those shoulders and thick neck and traps. These are my opinions, but my opinions are also backed up with fact - just watch the matches and you'd see what I mean.
Oh yeah, my friends and I were Disco fans back during the Attitude/nWo era. Kenny is out of his gourd to claim anything different than Disco being an over mid-carder who did hold titles.
Disco is the 🐐
The main reason I was drawn to Disco's matches during the height of the Monday night wars was his selling ability. Id compare his selling ability to Curt Hennig.
Funny how all the Omega D*** riders are all changing their minds now when it was obvious from the start, Kenny Omega was not even close to being the best wrestler in the world, can't cut a decent promo, can't hit the ropes correctly, hits people with 9 V triggers per match and can't pin the guy. To the best the best is not about your ring work, it's about drawing and omega couldn't draw flies to a dead body. It's just that simple.
Disco: "I have thick skin" then processed to show he doesn't
