Summary:
This is very nice quality and contains the complete performance without any significant flaws. I thoroughly enjoyed this, as he has a terrific band on board and does material from throughout his career, including songs from his years in The Youngbloods and a rare pre-Youngbloods song from his Greenwich Village folkie days in the early 1960s (Walking Off My Blues). He also does a sweet medley of Marvin Gaye's "Whats Going On" and "Mercy Mercy Me." - Видеоклипы
What a voice and guitar player. Love the flute ♥️
ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE ARTISTS... SO UNIQUE N SWEET
To this day, JCY is in my opinion, is the sweetest voice in music. Uncanny control laced with strong character and a mass of raw yet nicely developed talent, this is the front-man you want in your band. Can't think of a comparable singer while his records are playing.
True..
Yip it's uncanny and chilling , there is no comparison , he was the best.Never heard anyone that good before or since.
I'd throw Kenny Rankin into the mix, in my opinion......If you haven't yet, check him out! JCY is fantastic!
I shazaamed him today when I heard morning sun playing outside a restaurant in Sweden. Wow! So musical sweet and effortless. Real spirit n soul.
Attended this fantastic concert ~ loved every second! Also saw Van Morrison @ this venue . So any great artists back then.💙
Jesse Colin Young was just amazing back then. What a voice!
SO happy to have found this 70’s concert! Jesse Colin Young is an amazing artist. His voice is magical! ❤
Chanced upon this and spent a lovely gray Autumn afternoon revisiting much happier days. The trouble with today's music is, it doesn't sound like this! Blessings on JCY.
Youngbloods were rovolutionary , with one of the greatest singer songwriters of recent history that posseses an unbelievably soulful tenor, combining jazz , folk ,country-rock, music hall , rag time , old trad. ballads , soul , rock and rock n' roll , oh yeah and avant-garde(in the interlude "explosions" , and frank zappa would have loved that!🥁 🥁 🥁
back when music was real music and people could sing thank you Jesse and to all the real musicians thank you so very much peace
It doesn't get any better than this...
i use to dance dance dance at your concerts. then danced danced some more as my body grows older and a wee bit sore. now, i was planning to clean clean clean my tiny cabin, but instead ........... i watched the concert again and then when my light got to shinning real good.... i shed tears of incredible joy. i have such amazing good memories of those times. ty Jesse and God for bringing us you! big time thanks God.
When i went through my darkness you were also there to help bring me home again...
can't thank you enough. peace always, and aloha.
Such a beautiful post. Blessings 🙏🏻
Thank you so much for posting this fantastic concert!
Great concert! Have been in love with his voice and his music since I was a little girl. 😄🎶❤️
I’m feeling a bit down today. It’s Christmas Day 2022. This concert game back up in my playlist and really lifted my spirits. Thank you again for posting!
I've always loved JCY both when he began with the Youngbloods and after that when he went solo. I saw him live back in the early 70s in San Francisco and he was great. This concert is so damn good and Jim Rothermel on saxes is part of the reason why along with the whole band that Jesse has with him. However, his voice and compositions are the major forces for his greatness, and he is one of the greatest ever.
Just found his LP at a Good will and loved it. Glad I found a awesome artist.
Take all the Ozzy Osborn and Kiss, etc. ; have yourself a good old time. In 1977 I bought JCY's On The Road album and I wore a hole through it, then a few years back, my wife surprised me with the really hard to find CD version. I'm not into theatrics, I'm into music. Jesse is a great example of someone who surrounded himself with great musicians and everybody played their ass off, what a pleasure! Thanks for posting
I had that album. And the one with the cover shot of him and his son in black and white. Shoot. Can't remember the name.
Damn right I'll take Ozzy and Kiss. And also JCY. I get it all.
I love the flute in the band. Saw him in concert in the early 70’s, wish I could remember it better. This helps jog my memory.
Hot licks! Soul, jazz and social consciousness. What more could we want?
His music always picks me up!!!!! Great concert Jesse Colin Young!!
What a special talent and terrific music! I have been a fan for 4+ decades. The enjoyment of the music never gets old. The music and its messages are timeless. Much love and peace to Jesse Colin Young. Thanks for sharing yourself with us.
I saw Jesse back then and saw him again recently.. I was amazed at how good his voice has remained 40 years later. Certainly one of the all time greatest voices in music.. Loved watching this video..brought back lots of great memories...Thanks for posting!
So good to find this wonderful concert again after all these years... and Jesse Colin Young is still going strong! Has his own website and Facebook page!
Holy sh**! No wonder I used to follow these guys all over northern CA back then!
edgehabitat lucky. you love love love
In 1969 I saw Taj Mahal and then Curtis Mayfield open for the Youngbloods at the Paldium Theater in Los Angeles, one the first shows I ever saw, and (obviously) an unforgettable experience. Three amazing artists. Can probably find one, but now would like to hear a live version of Grey Day.
Excellent line up ,shows just how great they were!
So cool. Remember Little Feat?! A bit of Steely Dan? EARLY Elton John, before his glitter-pop days. This is truly the best example of original American
JCY was such an amazing blend of Rock,Jazz, and early "Country Rock" Learning to appreciate musicianship and lyrics. Not just head banging ,repetitive Guitar shreds!! Many late afternoons, summer days on the Lake,Beach just chillin Good times! Thanks Jesse!
Amazing musicians! So much talent!! Great concert!!
Saw him in San Francisco in 72 or 73 at the Great American Music Hall. Simply great.
Jesse Colin Young ‘Ride The Wind’, ‘Sunlight’, ‘Darkness Darkness’ & ‘Get Together’ Are All INCREDIBLE Songs
A true creative genius!! Jesse is one of the best!! ∞
Makes me feel Young ! Again! Thank you! Will never lose again.......
I was at this show down front, Bromberg opened....great night of music
I saw Bromberg at the Phila Music Festival. Great musician.. I still have his LP Demon In Disguise
Bromberg and Jesse what a nice mix.
quite a duo on the card that night! we travel far and wide to hear bromberg. Jesse hates touring (who doesn't?) and is less frequently on the road. Even Bromberg stopped touring a long time because the road is just too hard.
That would have been perfection. Hippie music with its heart (and balls) in the right place.
Wow, love this. I really like songbird, But my fav is Ridgetop with that wonderful sax.
Exactly. I just love this.
Ridge Top.
That's just one of my favorites.
Yeah Mam Ridgetops Fantastic so is The Highway is for Heros with The Great Sax, oh and Before You Came, Totally Awesome.
Beautiful man
Ridgetop....amazing lyrics about his place in Pt. Reyes that was lost in a CA wildfire. He must have been crushed...'cause you can tell he loved the little piece of heaven.
Yes indeed, Jesse Colin Young and Band! Really good stuff!
Wow, this music carries me away, beautiful.
Fell in love with him while living in Minn in the 70s, saw him LIVE after moving to the Florida Keys in the 80s!
Super beautiful thankful for this man 🌸
I always loved the ovation guitar. It has a unique sound. It’s like playing a salad bowl with its round back body 😀
Thank you for sharing this with us
one of the best things in my life
A Super sweet pleasure 💖💖💛💛💚💚
Love to be dancing.. ✨✨✨
My romance blossomed with JCY in Hawaii in 1976 balmy nights waves crashing swaying palm trees and the songs of JCY and bf.
So great.
To young, and not in the USA to go to these wonderful concerts. 😄✌️❤️
JCY is awesome. Huge influence! Before you Came is my favorite song of all time!!
Zack Woods being half native American and my husband full seminole Indian I love that song thank you jessie
JCY music always takes me to a better place.
We always ate mushrooms before a JCY concert. Those were the days. MAGICAL CONCERTS.
They're BACK!
Such a sexy swing...and Jesse's voice lets the music carry me away. I still am crushing on this man since I first heard his voice in 1973...
Stellar performance of "What's Going On". 😊
Remember our Ridgetop, baby?
Lord, how we could rock the sheets...
RIP Debbye.... Love, your old man.... John
Jazzy, bluesy, bossa nova, folk-rock (even a little "salsa" from the piano). No wonder I loved these guys back then. They pulled together so many kinds of music that I loved...and would come to love in the future.
Lucky enough to have been there...💕
I saw him at Humbolt state Gym in 72, snorted coke with him! What a night! It was the best show! He is the best, still a fan!!
He is so good!!!
Jesse Collin Young Songbird. Bossa Folk.
Fantastic timing on the guitar and relaxed, smooth unparalleled singing, effortlessly moving between full voice and falsetto. Maybe the only other singers to compare him with would be Smokey Robinson and Kenny Loggins. Unbelievable performance here, and done so with such poise and confidence when you realize the amount of focus and concentration that it takes for a musician to perform at that level. Jesse, you are one of a kind. The kind of a voice that transports you to another place, an incredible gift to the world.
That’s what a real musician does.....
Wow this was done on my 25th birthday...love it
I've seen a few concerts in my life and by far, seeing Jessie Colin Young at the Saenger Theater in Mobile, Alabama during the summer of 1976 was the absolute best concert that I ever attended. The 1920's venue with its' beautiful architecture and intimate setting and being there with someone who had as gentle a spirit as the singer made the music all the better. Chuck Leighty was a fine man; I think it's the only date we had, and I refused the other requests that he made; he was just too sweet and doting. I asked his sister-in-law how and where he was when I met her back in 2016. I don't remember what she said, likely because I didn't like what she said, and all-in-all I suppose there wasn't much I liked or trusted about her, though I did ask her to dine with me to tell her some ... things... about the ghost I couldn't see and me ... that seemed fitting due to her tie with the local priest and fact that this priest had quickly confided in me that he'd lived above a voodoo shop in New Orleans and who took to calling my young daughter Bobby Dylan. In any event, Chuck Leighty, wherever you are, thank you for this wonderful and magical night that I go back to often and the softness you brought to my otherwise hard spirit and wild soul.
C'mon let it shine...
MMMM-MMM that's some fine, fine music
Neil Meharg might have answered my question to this ... But right around this time Jesse Colin Young played a small venue in Marquette, Michigan.. John Prine opened for him and no one wanted John to stop! Then Jesse took the stage and the whole night was magical! Those were the days of GRAND live music...Sitting on the floor so close to the band you could touch them! What a night I'll never forget... And John Prine? Still one of my top 10!
sounds magical!
@@59sallyb It indeed was!
This is an awesome concert!!! Thank you for posting it. I’d love to have a CD of the audio. Is there one I could buy? Thank you!
It was a cool night in Atlanta Ga. in 1975 when Jesse Colin Young took the stage at the Great Southeast Music Hall. I was sitting on the cushions with a bucket of beer.
And they were actually buckets! I've never seen that anywhere else. About that same time I remember seeing the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band there...Steve Martin opened for them. Incredible.
Wow that would have been some show. Love the Dirt Band too
Jesse do you there I love you
Jesse Colin Young...so fine.
Touring is so hard on artists...and these days it's the only way they can make money, because the internet doesn't have a way to give them their money. They have to fight and scratch and claw just to get cents on the dollar IF the music is played on a format that actually pays artists.
Now with no touring at all, artists just suffer. And, our country values money over art, so there's another issue for artists...it's no wonder so many stop playing/painting/creating/dancing althogether.
Let's keep a happy thought for artists, and remind ourselves daily how much joy they bring our world.
Love this guys work and art so much.
I have no words for my feelings just now, but I assume y'all understand and can identify
Wow suns it up
true soul..
Things looked like they were getting good back then...a brilliant cover of "What's Goin' On?" and a good rhythm section. White guy paying tribute to Black music and his own self, and doing a beautiful job.
And now look. We didn't lay enough track down. They're screwing us. But it won't last.
Saw u in garbervil ca 27 years ago

Is there a playlist here
I was born on the birthday of this brutality
pretty forgettable
Good god, does the flute really have to play THAT big of a role in this music?! Especially this mix - way too overbearing over the vocals & guitars !
yea who cares its free
Its not that baf
I'm lovin that bass and the sax and the whole band!!!😘😁😎👍
