I have been downsizing for a couple years now. Although you are getting rid of things, I also hear that you are still doing a good amount of shopping. I learned a couple of things from several minimalist and capsule wardrobe videos that I can share that helped me with a reality check. First, separate your clothing by category (tank tops, shirts and blouse, pants, shorts, jeans, dresses, ect.). Count the number in each category. I am sure by this video that you will be shocked by how many you actually have. There are only 365 days in the year. You say you are wearing things a lot, or its a basic, but are you actually wearing them. Turn your hangers around each season, and forwards when you wear an item. This will give you a clearer picture of what you actually wear. Take notes for items you gave away and recognize the trends, so, you don't repeat buy what you were not wearing. You should probably set goals for how many items is enough in a category. Do you need 30+ tank tops? When you add up all the tops, shirts, and dresses, do you have so many that you can only wear each one once or twice per year? These are some indicators that you probably don't need to shop for a long time. If you do go somewhere, shop with intention and a list. Think of the money you can save and the things you can do with that money. You will see when you have fewer good quality items that you love and are not impulse purchases, you will end up wearing them for years. It will also make getting dressed easier and you will feel good in your clothes every day. The key is to know what you have, know what you wear and lood good in, and know what you do and don't actually need. Good luck!

One other thing. I noticed you saying, "It's not taking up too much space." This is not a good reason to hang onto something. If its sentimental, pull it out and store it somewhere else outside your closet and drawer space if you don't wear it. When you declutter, ask yourself, "Have I worn it in the last year?" "Will I wear it in the next year?" If not why? Don't just hang on because of what if unless it is special occasion or a costume, and both of these which you wear infrequently you should keep only a few of, depending on your lifestyle of course. Anyway, good start. You are young and hopefully will learn these lessons before you look back on how much money you wasted on things you hardly wore like it did.
