    At 82 and having played for over 60 years I am still learning how to swing correctly thanks to excellent video instruction like this. Executing proper rotation gets harder with age. I have been doing a lot of work using the practice bays at the PGA Superstore near me in Rockville, MD with their Foresight GC Hawk launch monitors. They also have front and behind cameras that show you on the screen. Seems to me that I usually do that second type of error, turning on the trail toe. I will definitely work on what you are showing here. Thanks so much.

      70 year old and near 50 years of golf here.
      Nicklaus once said something like, “In golf, you sometimes remember things that you thought you’d never forget.”
      That’s certainly true for me.
      And Arnold was trying new things and trying to perfect his swing up to his final days.
      Our love of the game never dies, eh? The journey, not the destination.

    First issue describes my right foot. Fighting early extension forever, until seeing this exact problem in a video of myself I made last week. No instructor has ever seen or corrected it for me. It also prevented me from ever being able to get onto the left edge of my left foot. Will work on this for the rest of the year. Awesome video. Thanks Steve

    Great lesson. Rolling the ankles was one of Jack Nicklaus main drills. Worked pretty good for him.

    Nice! Now I see why Scotty Sheffler has that sliding right foot action and he's one of the best ball strikers out there.

    Love your videos. I am 66 and still hit it ok. I am a 5. My swing speed is around 98, and, because my AOA is usually -3 to -5, I don't, relatively speaking, hit my driver nearly as far as my irons. I can hit my 7 iron almost 170, but I carry my driver 230. I definitely don't move my right foot as you suggest in this video. When I am hitting it poorly, I am sure my right knee actually goes perpendicular to the target. This is going to take some work as my right ankle is not nearly as supple as yours.
    Another interesting thing is on trackman, when I hit my driver in the center (150 smash) I hit it WAY right. I just cannot get turned. Ditto when I try to move the driver up in my stance. I either hit it way right or I hit a huge pull. No question when I am hitting my driver well it feels like my right arm is underneath the club. Thoughts?

      I would guess you are hitting way down and across with the handle path a bit stuck. Works ok on the shorter clubs but guessing you hit driver low and heely often. Hard to cover more in a comment. Feel free to send a trimmed 3 second video to me at Steve@hititlonger.com.

    One of Hogan’s many secrets is “running the right knee at the ball” as a downswing trigger.
    For me, that was first of all very difficult to ingrain but now, when consciously applying that thought, it automatically gives me the hip shift to the left that Hogan downplays and helps keep my right heel down until impact.
    It’s the shift that Toski highlights and gets my hips moving right up and then left up like a bell clapper, breaking that barrel, forming that 7th vertebrae to instep “straight” line, etc that Mike wanted.
    Great video, Steve.
    ...uhh... been eating a bit too well lately?

      70 year old 7 hc here... dang was a 5 a couple of years ago.
      Thanks to the Mike Austin method I adopted at 63, through frustration and near surrender for 2 years (couldn’t get near to breaking 80) by 67 I was 50 yards longer than my dwindling drives at 62.
      At 68 I was carrying 280 and getting honest 300 yarders. (Mike at that age could still get past 350.)
      I owe a lot to Steve in getting me there.
      My last days of 68, I scoffed at pneumonia and almost checked out.
      Now at 70, I’m only carrying 240 with my Sunday best but without Steve’s advice, I’d be like most other septuagenarians barely getting 200 total.
      Thanks again, Steve.

    When i use this leg move when do i bring chest rotation in downswing? Both happens same time?

  • @bennycampos4616
    @bennycampos4616 Год назад

    Steve - I’ve noticed you do something a little different with your lead foot on the downswing. Is this related to the right foot movement or does it make it easier? Thanks.

    The best way to score is to hit 3 balls on every shot chip or putt and take the best one. It will take time, but your there for fun and not profit because you cannot turn the clock back to 10yrs old and become good at hitting only one ball as you would see on TV

    Wouldn’t you thing that the misconception of “pushing off” from the back foot motion??? Almost like the trail foot is trying to force the weight forward? I really think that is a huge misconception of using the ground as leverage

    • @Inmotion70
      @Inmotion70  Год назад

      I don't like to think of it as pushing off, but rather stepping down.
