- On my bike trip around Europe I got to visit and get a glimpse into the life of the brothers and sisters of the Evangelical Sisterhood of Mary in Darmstadt (Germany) also known as "Kanaan".

Thank you so much for this precious video. I am the mother of one of the Sisters from Canada. S. Bethany, she has been there for 31 years and she has the privilege of working in the kitchen and is also with the music ministry.
Wow that’s amazing! May I ask what your first reaction to her decision to become part of the sisterhood was? I heard that I can be very hard for the parents which is understandable. But I would be very interested to also hear what your process with that decision was if you don’t mind sharing :)

So happy to have stumbled upon your video! It brings back precious memories of my time on Kanaan. That was in 1976-77. I was there for about 9 months, living and working with the community.

Kanaan is very close to where I live!
I was there in person a few times.
Once when the ( now-disolved ) Eurochoir was there, I helped one brother ( he is American or Canadian, one of the two) to prepare the parking lot at Canaan for the huge influx of cars!
Over the years, several of the sisters or brothers where in my congregation to share their life testimony.
That’s awesome! I really enjoyed my time there :) you’re lucky to live so close to it!
