Having been homeless, I know it is an hour to hour rough life & huge struggle just to survive. To his brother Tony and his mum & family, I send my condolences for your loss.
It says a lot about a rich society when this happens... Think now what happens in the rest of the world where institutions are screwed and the county is poor...
so why dont u look for him and help him? why u people r so materialistic! so u wnt when he die, u want to show up like these pple now, pple need care whn thy r a live not whn thy die. i cant see my brother dying. so dumb, in the west there is no humanity there
i haven't had anyone look like my dad , but ive seen his eyes or features in others. makes me smile , and hurt at the same time . sorry for others who have lost loved ones.
@shaun king Immigrants aren't cutting public services like the NHS, community centres/programmes and policing...it's the Tory government, who've imposed austerity for a decade AND allow immigration because they have the authority and will to do so. Immigrants are too busy contributing and serving in public services like the NHS. Blame the source - the government - not the people picking up the pieces whilst being blamed for everything.
I will never understand how there’s never money to just have enough decent hostel rooms for all homeless people or help services, when the councils literally hoard money.
You can hear in the mother's unforgiving, critical tone, a clue to the gentleman's isolation and withdrawal. His brother shows he listened more to Mark and tried to understand him.
Erm this is a Scottish government competence, this the is SNP (if you believe it is a government issue). Here is an incomplete list of Scottish government controlled areas; economy, education, health, justice, rural affairs, housing, environment. So economy, health and housing departments (which I think are most relevant to homelessness) are all under the SNP's direction, not the Tories.
Read the story on the Guardian this morning, just super sad. It's so easy to slip into homelessness now in the UK - there is no safety net. When you read what happened to Mark's girlfriend too - that would destroy anyone.
It is not sufficient and communities are having to step in and fill in the gaps that should be there for social care thanks to 10 years of cuts and austerity. Why are food banks even a thing? Why are 40% of children in the UK living in poverty - and who is helping them? These are all steps towards homelessness.
It is not necessary to be homeless! I worked with the homeless! There are many. Many support systems. In place and laws to stop homelessness. The problem is if that person is unable to conform to society enough that they can accept the help.
Labour or the Conservatives are largely irrelevant in this story, this is a Scottish government issue. The Scottish Government, so the SNP for the last years, have control over housing & health & economic policy, Labour being elected to Westminster doesn't change Scottish Government policy.
More Tory austerity, please! That's what this country wants and needs judging by the voting habits of the electorate. With freedom comes responsibility. If this country refuses to own up to the consequences from the choices it made in polling stations, nothing will ever change.
how many empty properties in the uk , how many homeless in the uk ? do the maths , when you look up these numbers , someone mainly private landlords are profiting from leaving properties empty , this has to change

John John like the guy said, you can’t help people that don’t want to be helped, no matter how much you try. All you can do is be as close as they’ll allow and make sure they know help is right here. It’s like an argument or something I guess. When you know you’re objectively correct and there is no argument to be had but the other person just won’t listen, won’t accept it and just mentally can not admit they’re wrong. You can’t force them, they have to get to that point themselves, with careful, considerate help.
Most homeless people do not want to be helped by their relatives. I know people who would vehemently refuse to accept any help, because they do not want to become a burden to others
It sounds like 'Humpy' was too ashamed to ask for help, that he didn't want to impose himself on his family. You can tell that by how little his mother knew, who would probably have been the hardest person to tell (and he didn't). His brother was unsurprisingly a little easier to tell, but even then he must have felt great shame and hidden a lot.
@@tams805 Yeah, that is what has been my personal experience too. Sometimes I witnessed homeless people defend themselves against paramedics or street workers, probably out of sha e

What a shame. I became homeless while waiting on my disability. It took me 14 months. It can happen to anyone.
Took me 10 years and it knocked me for life.

Logically Fallacious. Perhaps the country has lost its conscience now.
