It's really too bad GW will stop those start collecting, they were a great entry to a factions/game for a kinda low price (around 60/70euros here)
While the Vanguards have more models and are a solid foundation for an army, i feel like the price range of 100eur is kind of a hurdle for someone looking to get into the hobby
Very nice breakdown ! I'll try to get one or two while they're still here

Yeah totally agree. I'm coming around on the vanguard kits as many (though not all) do seem to be delivering on the promise of a small playable force, but would be nice to have lower cost entry options other than the 50 dollar starter

Solid set breakdown.... I have the Skaven Pestilence box, using discarded sprue you can make a frame for the cannon and have both a catapult and cannon, you can also use both the grey seer and plague priest and the monks sprue comes with 20 giant rats... So with a bit of creativity you can really pull the value out... But then again I combined them with some Mantic Ratkin and play one page rules so your mileage may vary....

Good vids and solid breakdown. Just based on the content you're covering it obviously took time and effort. So thank you for that, I think you finally sold me on grabbing the Sylvaneth SC box at my local store (20% off too, pretty dope)...
One thing I'd change personally. This is clearly is a nonissue to you and ostensibly to most other WH fans so I realize I must be in the minority but it may be good, when reviewing sets in the future and their values, to mention when they're monopose/push fit. To me, and id imagine at least some others, that alone takes away about 75% of the value at least. I absolutely hate monopose minis as building, gearing and making them characterful/my own is a major element of the value to me. Like I realize the Slaves and Stormcast boxes you mentioned are great values model-wise....but every iota of my consideration in buying either was wiped away as soon as I found out they were monopose/pushfit. Had I bought em I woulda felt like I spent that money on something worth maybe 20$ to me personally.
I was so pissed when I got the generic space marine and ork combat patrols lol I had no idea (lmao especially the orks...are they fuckin kidding?? Repeated monopose boyz?? Forced mixed weapons?? Deffcops essentially being bullshit action figures worth 5$/per that you basically glue two halves together? Fuckin EW!) they were monopose. I ALMOST bought the Sisters combat patrol bc of th amazing eclectic selection and overall quality of sister's models but thank fuck I checked.
It just feels like GW, an already pretty sleezy company (and im not an "all corps are evil" idiot, either) is trying to cheap out even more bc its obviously significantly cheaper to make whatre basicslly broken action figures over individual interchangeable components that allow for customization...but the exorbitant costs and transparent slimyness of GW ensure I have zero sympathy for them trying YET ANOTHER tactic to charge more for less. I believe with almost any company, they HAVE to try and cut costs and do whatever they can otherwise another company with a comparable product that minimizes overhead more effectively simply will take their place, so an attempt at principle in such cases helps nobody and they fail for trying. So i get that...but GW owns WARHAMMER...no knock off or similar IP is Warhammer so theyre gonna get paid no matter what. They don't have serious competition bc NOBODY else has warhammer, which itself has intrinsic and unique value. So theyre the rare company that absolutely doesnt literally have to be sleazy.
So it wounds me financially AND harms my principles to give them a dime for any monopose/push fit garbage they decided to shit out...all I can do is ensure my money doesn't encourage it. A trivial effect but all we have really.
Anyway, I know Im one of the only ones with such a passionate disdain for this. Ive tried to espouse my anti MP rhetoric before and nobody seems to be on board. But i cant be the ONLY one, so maybe do mention if some kit is monopose/sacreligious/morally depraved? If im literally the only guy who doesn't like it then dont do anything on solely my account but maybe me taking 2 minutes to type the thoughts im thinking could resonate and save me from such grave purchasing errors at some point. Id rather donate that money to ISIS, contingent upon them not making monopose minis ofc.
-Unrelated PS, not necessary to read regarding my initial point-
however long this comment is, it wasnt any great effort as I type fast and stream of consciousness. Just preempting any potential virginal nerd commenting on the "essay" length or the percieved effort such paragons of autistic incel-ism evidently feel is their duty.
Haha but also yes, I am being defensive about how uncommonly passionately I feel disdain for this monpose bullshit. Of course I am, as is the correct way to react when you realize the unfathomably trivial nature of some of the things that elicit any sort of passion. Now if I were proud of it, that'd be a real sign of a depraved lunatic. Im proud of things thatre worthy of pride. Im also self aware and can recognize things i do that deserve no pride.

Seraphon (Saurus) is a better box if you maximize it with some kitbashing. You can make 2 monsters, and 2 more heroes with a bit of work.

For some strange reason in australia the greywater box is $165aud. The copter is $60, the dwarves are $70 and the two characters are $23, resulting in a savings of $11.

@@BudgetWaaagh nah man, New Zealand has it even worse. I love dwarves and if the box was $30 cheaper I'd have bought 4 by now.

I've got like 4k of FeC. It's all from the start collecting boxes and kit bashing the extra bits.

I largely agree although we have very different opinions on aesthetics. I personally hate the look of Tzeentch demons in the box and would give it an F for aesthetics.

Can we really use the phrase its been squatted anymore now that squats exist again in 40k?

Must disagree. Ironjaws look ridiculous in yellow space suits. They look like cheap failed surplus from WH 40K. Its your top pick, but even GW are replacing them with better and original models.
