How to turn off Audio Description for Movies / TV Shows on YouTube.

  • Took me like an hour to figure this out so I figured I’d make this to help anyone else having the problem.

    I don’t believe this works anymore, it seems RUclips has changed the way audio settings work. I have unlisted this video but on the off chance you still made your way here, this method doesn’t work.

    Oh my sweet goodness. We could NOT figure this out last night and it was driving us both insane! We decided to give it another go tonight, your video popped up and within a minute, we had the problem fixed. Thank you SO MUCH! You are an incredible person who will save a LOT of people time and effort!

      Haaaaa haaaaa ...I feel that. Watching this video worked. Otherwise I was about to throw it out my window too ..tv..remote .my phone. It was so annoying.

    I cant thank you enough brother. I was going crazy trying to turn it off. I checked my tv settings but it was off. Turning off that 5.1 did it in RUclips .. Im glad you posted this. Thanks again.

    Having the same problem but using RUclips mobile. There's no selection for 5.1 Surround or for English original 😢

    In my case I am using an apple TV box. Is this setting on the router, the TV, The apple TV box, on my computer or IN the movie? I can find no such setting ANYWHERE.

    Thank you for posting this!
    I have 5.1 surround on but under audio tracks, it only offers me English descriptive and Spanish original.
    It won't let me deselect English descriptive.
    Has anyone here run into this issue? Any leads?

      Figured it out. Have to have Dolby atmos off in your phones sound settings. For some reason that sound setting in RUclips isn't there with Dolby atmos enabled

      For anyone wondering. Idk if I shut it off from my android (samsung) .. or on the utube app, there is only a an option to shut off accessibility controls through accessibility option on utube video .. like the time and play button, option for CC etc. I don't even see a audio description or DVS - direct vision standard option. Anyway, problem solved, but I can't tell you how definitively to turn on and off and I don't see an option like on a hulu or Amazon. Ty for video, though. Again, tv and phone are different. Also, I'm an advanced tech geek, so it's very frustrating. I could build a computer before I found option if it even exists. Lol.

It would be like using your phone's closed captioning instead of utube's own. Utube has CC but not audio description, see? I think I made enough sense. Lol. Ok. Later

    I came to this video to try to turn off the RUclips audio description on my phone but clearly the settings on this TV has nothing to do with the RUclips app itself. WTF!

      @@nicholassampson6726 I reported it, emailed back and forth and they gave the same suggestion as this video. And said if it doesn't work I can either refund or 'escalate' and speak to a specialist.... Iv got no time for that bull so I got a refund x
