On August 15, 1947, we Indians got independence. So, we completed 75 years of our independence. This is the 76th year of independence. Usually, all people make this mistake. The difference is completing the years, and beginning of the next year. Regards

Actually this was to celebrate the progress we have made in 75 years of Independent India and the completion of our diamond jublee. Definitely it was our 76th Independence day anniversary counting the year 1947 as the 1st.

This confusion comes if u count 1947 as first Independence day. If u start counting from 1948, this is 75th anniversary. We got independence on 1947 but Independence day started as an anniversary from 1948 as first Independence day.
Just like we don't count exact year of wedding as a first wedding anniversary, we count from next year. I hope it will clear things up

This is a simple math--On 15th August 1947 that was the first Independence Day , and on 15th August 1948 that was 2nd and so on but only the 1 year of Independence. Likewise on 15th Agust 2022 it is 76th Independence day with 75 years of Independence.

It's not confusing. It's just you are misunderstanding it..... It was India's 76th Independence day and India completed it's 75 years of Independence on this day.... Like if you are born on 1st January 2000, that day is gonna be your 1st birthday but on 1st January 2001 it's gonna be your 2nd birthday but you are just 1 years old.....

Its simple,
75 years of independence completed
And this one is 76th Independence day that we celebrated

So India got its Independence on August 15th 1947...imagine its a child..so its first birthday is going to be on August 15th 1948 completing 1year of Independence and 2nd in 1949 and so on..now in 2022 its completing 75years . Now if we consider the "day" part August 15th 1947 was the 1st day India was independent 2nd was in 1948 (remember it completed 1year of independence in 1948) so that would mean 75years of Independence and 76th Independence Day.

Its doesn't work like Birthday, the day u are born is not ur 1st birthday,it comes after 1 year but the day we got independence is our 1st independence day,so if u celebrate ur 20th birthday that means u got 20 years old on that day but here its 76th independence day and 75 years have passed

Its not that confusing. Technically when we got freedom, that day is the first independence day and after that years of freedom started. So its technically 76th independence day after completing 75 years of freedom...
