    Try using a unused paintbrush like a old one no longer good for painting, use it to mix your colors or bring your colors to your palette from the half pan. I have a designated brush for mixing 🎨 it saves my brushes.

      I started doing that with my old cheap synthetic after getting my Silver Velvets. I found that as much as I love my new brushes they absorb so much water it can be a challenge to get enough pigment to mix a large pool of color, plus I don’t want to ruin the beautiful points. My synthetic is not nearly as nice to paint with but grabs a lot of pigment and is perfect for mixing.

    I have looked many times for a Schmenke palette because there is quite a bit of cost savings when you buy a set, however, what I have found is that they never include their most unique, extra special colors, only the generic colors that don’t really stand out as special. I started out collecting Senneilier in tubes, the honey binder almost always separates, then I tried many of the quin and sienna colors from Daniel Smith in small tubes which are stunning but some are granulating which I couldn’t appreciate at the time. Then I discovered Schmenke and fell in love. If I was just getting started, I would recommend buying the largest half pan starter set you can afford from Schmenke (the paint is so silky smooth when you apply it to paper), some of their blues, browns and oranges in particular really stand out as extra special and quite exciting to paint with; then add additional half pans over time from this brand or you could do the same thing with Danielle Smith (not all of their paints are granulating and their quinacridones are extremely special) both offer dot charts so you can sample all of their colors.. Just FYI for beginners, most plastic palettes will cause the water to bead up, even if you can only afford a small porcelain palette, it’s worth it for mixing colors, Jack Richardson is a good brand, or even a porcelain square appetizer dish on sale works the same. Karanseerah, I bet if you reached out to Daniel Smith they might be interested in gifting you a sampler box as a courtesy for your channel.

    I agree about the half pans. They are just too small for picking up color. As I use them up I will not be refilling. I’m using as small mixes sometimes

    Your Daler Rowney are most definitely Artists grade, and are a less popular brand but nevertheless pretty good quality. They haven’t captured public imagination so much but IMO are better than W&N professional half pan version. If you like layering they will work very well. I love white nights too, if you are careful to avoid any fugitive colours, just like any other brand, your work will last.

    I’ve never had half pans but it seems like it would be harder to get paint out of than sloped wells once you use about half of it. I am planning on getting one of ArtTools’ Folio Pallets so I guess I will find out but I think those are also more shallow than traditional pans.

      It's from Mijello mission gold class watercolour set. I have removed the pans which were included in the set and poured my own colours :)

    Where we do we get maimeri colors in India?
    Also do you find it hard getting the transparency in Mijello gold watercolors...I really struggle with few colors

    • @arvindshukla8040
      @arvindshukla8040 3 года назад +2

      Some of mijello's pigments are SUPER opaque to a point where they seem more like gouache but that applies to most brands, there are a few oddballs here and there, but in my experience they are relatively transparent.

    • @karanseerah
      @karanseerah  3 года назад

      I don’t use mijello cuz that are not my favourite brand. You can not buy maimeriblu watercolours or palette in India. But you can order one from Jackson’s art
