  • Building an 80 Ft Long Shipping Container with an Insulated Garage Door & More! | The Container Guy
    Follow along in this video as we connect two 40-foot shipping containers together end to end! We already showed you how we connected two 20-foot containers to make a 40’, and how to connect two 40-ft containers side-by-side to make a double wide shipping container, but now we want to show you what an 80’ double long container will look like!
    For this modification, we will be removing the container doors, installing strut channels, a man door on either side of the double long container, an overhead garage door on the side, and then connecting the two sea cans using our end-to-end kit. And we did this whole modification without having to weld anything!
    If you’re interested in purchasing this kit, please contact us at parts@thecontainerguy.ca to make an order.

    80 feet is looong! I'd like to see two 40 feet containers side by side with a passage kit to move between the two. Keep up the great work!

    Would be Nice to see finished containers on site for the industrial use. Also what are some of these specific container used for? Do they mount to piles or how do they set them? Have you made a hunting lodge or camp style container? Have you installed plumbing or a wash bay in the container? Thanks again for the videos!

    re: insulation framing: don't the "ribs" attach to the exterior steel walls of the container thereby telegraphing cold thru the foam and into the interior meaning there is no thermal break between the exterior skin, the framing members thereby allowing direct transmission of internal heat out thru the framing and exterior skin?

    Always wondered if u could stick 2 20ft together and double wide it then 2 40ft on top so when u take out the bottom walls if that would be enough load structure bottom floor being open only for room like one section kitchen doorway to wide open living and 4th section storage/bath /electric room and make up stairs bed rooms possibly end capping with with more containers to add on later like Lego's all on plans to buy land and doing it your self type work I rather spend money one my kids and don't need that luxury home but functional and still able to be some what high tech in side . Keep up great work love learning thing to always to better my knowledge.

    If you used two strong connectors at each corner (top and side) could you pick up the resulting 80 foot container by the ends if it was mostly empty? If so, how much weight could it hold before it was not safe?

    Would love to set up one of these shipping containers as a storage unit and or possibly extended shop. Is it possible to have a Mitsubishi ductless heating/cooling system for example where they do not sweat from extreme temperature fluctuations and rust from the inside out?

    It's easy to do if you take a minute to think it through ! What I'm referring to is what you have is steel that is on the outside runs all around continuously to the inside if you take a second to think is to build in a thurmo /bridge that way in extreme weather your not going to have all your door posts frosting up where as with a T/B the steel exposed to the environment dose not come in and have the humidity inside will have hudge frost build up. Your takeing the Time and big cost of expensive insulation only to expose a week link in the insulation R Value of your product if what I'm saying sounds important I have 30 years experience as a industrial overhead door installer I would be happy to talk in ways to overcome this problem.

    • @TheContainerGuyTV
      @TheContainerGuyTV  2 года назад +1

      I used to be super worried about any thermal bridge until I realized all our man doors in Canada are a steel slab with foam inside (same as what I provided). Huge thermal bridge but still perfectly acceptable and never frosts in winter. It always comes down to a trade-off between cost and function. I agree with you and know what you mean though..

    An eighty-foot narrow insulated but heatable run full of fridges or freezers? The customer might be either a serious prepper with tons of chicken & moose meat to store *or* a FEMA-type agency that needs to store carcasses/cadavers. Without a ventilation system, it must not be intended as a living/recreational or workspace with the doors closed. Specialized storage only.
