    Being a general graphic designer for years now, there's nothing quite as cool, fun and inspiring as video animation.

    I don't normally comment on videos, but I just wanted to say that finding your channel has given me so much inspiration and guidance in teaching myself motion design. I finally feel like I'm getting out of a creative rut! You're so awesome, thank you so much and please keep making amazing videos! :)

      Thanks for taking the time to comment. This is exactly what I'm aiming for in creating these videos, so I'm glad you're getting something out of them. Just finishing next one which will drop tomorrow. Lots more in the works : )

    I’ve been teaching myself After Effects from scratch for the last 18 months. Over that time I have watched A LOT of tutorials/channels, and have only just discovered yours.
    I would say yours is possibly one of the best ones out there. It’s a really nice mix of formal and informal information.
    It’s has shown me so many amazing things I never even knew were possible in AE, and I’ve not even watched all the videos yet!
    Also, I love the film snippets too. I get annoyed of there is one that I don’t know, because it means it’s from a good film I’ve not seen. 😂
    Thanks for the content and all the hard work that goes into it. It’s absolutely banging! 🔥🔥🔥

      Thanks! Good luck with your learning journey (it sounds like you're well on the way). And thanks for mentioning the film clips haha. Film "crate digging" is probably the favourite part of making these tbh. Thanks for reaching out!

    Nice one, thanks!
    I found it especially helpful that you mentioned, how long it actually took you (30h plus?) to get to a certain point, because all those look-how-I-create-crazy-shit-in-under-10-minutes-from-scratch tutorials subconsciously give me heavy imposter syndrome, tbh. And to see you doing experiments on screen is also very calming, because now I know that I am not the only one who doesnt always have a plan. lol

      Don't get me wrong, I'm not ADVOCATING not having a plan! But even if I'd planned this it would have taken me a WHILE. And glad you highlighted this. That's one thing I really wanted to get across by having a companion channel which has the unedited screen recordings, warts and all. Obviously I tidy things up for these tutorials, but if seeing how much I struggle helps anyone get over imposter syndrome I'll have done my job. Not sure who's going to help me get over MY imposter syndrome though ....

      @@TheVideoShopLondon Oh, no worries. I do understand the importance of having a plan BEFORE diving right in. 😂But since about 95% of my paid work consisted of short form material, based on corporate guidelines, and quick turnaround requirements, I unfortunately got used to skipping moodboards and storyboards alltogether, especially when it comes to "smaller" projects. (which then turn out to be not so small anymore, because a certain someone skipped the storyboarding phase)

      @@hooznThat sort of content is totally different. You probably didn't have the time to board or even sketch stuff out. I've been there! Being quick, adaptive, responsive - all desirable qualities in a studio environment like that.

    The little tip where you typed "path" to show the paths was mindblowing to me. Such a dumb thing to overlook all these years.

      Oh god, I found that out myself VERY late in the day considering how long I've been using After Effects. It's a great time saver isn't it?

    Honest question, how much should a designer charge for such amount of work?

    • @TheVideoShopLondon
      @TheVideoShopLondon  Месяц назад

      Well the animation took 34 hours (the full workflows are on my other channel, link in the description). You can add probably another few hours for planning etc. So, VERY roughly you could say a full week if you can work at the same speed. Then whatever that works out to at your day rate.
