We've been watching your videos along with other "reaction videos" and, though it's still way early for her, she's getting more enthusiastic about the process. (Her dream school is Yale.) Could you do a video on studying for AP tests? I am taking two as a freshman! AP Bio and AP world. You said you took AP world could you explain what you did to do your best on the test.
I am going to be a senior next year class of 2022 My advice for the upcoming freshmen is... Join at least some clubs Get to know your school's faculty Stay organized Set goals for yourself Seek out new challenges Get enough sleep Make new friends you may have new friends but you will get used to it overtime Have the school spirit Be true to yourself Relationships is not as much important than your academics and also sports

i'm thinking of starting my own company too. i'm not gonna say what it's about cuz i don't want anyone to steal my idea, hehe. ;) update: i'm actually not gonna start a business and i found out wat im gonna do for the rest of my high school years. it may change tho, who knows
a self study video would be great! especially if you included some of your favorite channels and tips. i also go to public school and some of my teachers aren’t the best for me personally. :)
You can still sign up for the test & self-study though !! Use Heimler’s History on RUclips (he’s honestly much better than my teacher was) Good luck if you decide to take it !!
Could you also make a video based around your high school years ? Like your high school after school and weekend routines, extra curricular etc. How many hours u spent studying, working etc
So, I graduated in 1972 from a very chill high school in the Midwest. So chill that I never met with a guidance counselor after the first week of 9th grade, and I didn't even know there was a test called the SAT until 2 weeks before the deadline to apply for it. Even with all that I scored in the 93rd percentile in my state for math and the 91st percentile for English. I only applied to one college - a small Quaker affiliated college. I got into school but had no idea what I wanted as a major. I made the dean's list for the first three quarters. Then my dad got sick and I dropped out to go to work, taking quarters here and there as I could afford it. I never did finish, but I've had a good life. I'm retired now, have a good enough income (SS, an IRA and an annuity) to pay my bills until I'm 100 or 110 should I live that long. I can't say if things would have been better or not had I seen advice like this in the 9th grade. [ Edit ] another point - I don't even know if there were AP or IB classes/exams when I was in HS. I arranged my course schedule so I only went to HS a half day the second half of my junior year and my entire senior year, going to work in the afternoon. The main reason that I did that was because I detested nearly every minute that I was in HS.
I plan on just doing regular extracurricular activities for architecture my four years, and then, I was gonna switch art for freshmen year to orchestra (really into music) I am gonna cause I’m transferring to another school 10th grade where orchestra is available. Im planning my freshman year with at least one honors class and after that, I’ll see if I can handle the workload and stuff. I am extremely worried how this will go.
i’m not tulla but i am a junior who has some serious regrets abt my sophomore year, so here goes: - dedicate yourself to three extracurriculars or two + a sport, line yourself up for a leadership position next year in at least one of those - try and make new friends, some won’t work out but some will and it’ll be good to have a support system - find somewhere to volunteer that you’re really passionate about, and volunteer 50-100 hours (really important) - if you can, take ap classes or honors classes, and really study for ap exams - take the sat at least once (don’t worry if you don’t do well) and start studying at least one day a week freshman year is about finding your place in a new world, and sophomore year is about really focusing on what you’re passionate about and resume building for college. hope this helps :))
Lily Myrick I’m a senior & those were some good tips! Also, focus less on friendships or what people think of you & put your all into school but also have fun but still hold tight to your values!
So I got into a GT humanities English class.. it’s not AP but it’s pretty much the same. That’s really my only “difficult” class freshman year. But I do get to take that class through sophomore year, and if I pass the exam I get a college credit!
i'm gonna be a freshman this year in high school. i'm 13 and i want to go to yale. i feel like i'm gonna fail high school, even tho i have a plan of studying
I am a year ahead in math (i am in 8th grade in algebra 1) and i have the option to go to algebra 2 or geometry next year. Algebra 2 seems like a big jump, but i want to look good for college to skip geometry and go to algebra 2. I just don’t think it is smart because geometry is an essential class. I could just do both classes the same year (doubling up on math) but i don’t want to be too stressed out + i don’t want to cut any of my classes. What do you suggest? :) thanks ❤
I am a year ahead in math too. My friend is jumping to algebra 2 and taking geometry. I had that option too,but I didn’t want to stress myself out a lot. I would say it is totally up to you. I am taking all honors other then US history. My friend is taking all honors, but I am scared I may burn myself out. I would say it is totally up to you and what you are comfortable with.
U think the school keeps a record of everything like your grades and transcript they keep it if you apply for college your 12 grade year then they give it to you
of course they'll understand; it's an unusual time for everyone. a lot of colleges have an essay portion in which you can elaborate on how covid has affected your life, and they'll most likely continue incorporating that section for every graduating class that is affected by covid within the next few years. in the meantime, you could definitely talk to your counselor or teacher about starting a club virtually!
I am a freshman, and I am taking 2 honors courses(math and bio). There are 4 honors available that is outside my pathway and I knew that I am not interested in those courses. Is that fine? I am just taking the courses that I could.
I am a freshman too and I am taking 4 honors (math, bio, english, and French) as long with AP U.S History. I would say take as many honors that are available to you.
My highschool actually doesn’t offer ap classes instead they do ib and u can only take that for ur junior and senior year do u know if that difference will affect me going into top universities
At my high school I have the option to take an online version of health. Do you think taking the online class would be worse than taking the class in person? (I want to get the credit out of the way my freshman year but I don’t want to take the online class if it isn’t for me as it would mean no teacher support because it is through Acellus)
Im an incoming freshman(class of 2025) in southwest Florida we can take online courses over the summer through Florida virtual so if I wanted to I can take my hope requirement over the summer
I’m not in Highschool yet. Still a middle schooler, but I think 1-2 is max. I’m doing one because I want room to adjust to the workload. Plus most schools only allow freshman access to one either way.
hey! i need some advice. so, Im in 8th grade and am currently picking my highschool classes. I'm taking every other class honors, however I'm not so sure in math. I'm taking algebra 1 right now and the high school options for me is Algebra 2 and Honors Algebra 2. I have an 87 in my first marking period for math and an 89 in the second marking period. To take honors I need at least a 90. So, since I am not taking honors Algebra 2, will that affect my chances of getting into Penn State eventually? I know I sound crazy considering i'm only in 8th grade but I've always wanted to go to Penn State since I was little and I worry that this may affect my chances.
The fact that all the upper classmates tell me (I'm a highschool freshman) to sleep as much as I can because years of less sleep are coming 🙂🤍 I'm sure I can do It!!
Does it matter how much honors/AP classes you take in total on college apps? I want to do as much rigorous courses as I can but I also want to be able to not stress my self out lol
At the highest level, the number doesn’t seem to matter that much as they are an equalizer (everyone takes them, so it doesn’t really matter if one applicant took 8 and another took 10), same thing with test scores (1500s for SAT).
And to add on, it’s also ok to take elective courses relevant to your intended major. For example, I took polymer chem and bio chem my senior year and I am intending to study biomedical engineering or maybe materials science & engineering in college. It also helps to diversify the types of college-level courses you take if you can (as a matter of fact, the first thing my MIT interviewer asked me about was my dual enrollment courses at a top uni in my state). Keep in mind that admissions staff view your application in the context of your school and the classes available to take, so don’t fret if you have only taken 4 AP classes when your school only offers 6 (it’s more about the opportunities taken from what your school offers). Hope this helps you a bit.
@@connorm_3605 Hey! Should I take AP Human Geo in my freshman year? My high school only offers 1 AP course for freshmen which happens to be Human Geography. I'm debating whether I should take it or not, but I'm up for the challenge. Just unsure if it is worth it and will help in the long run. Thanks!
@@hopsmax2827 highly recommend that. It’s a really great starter AP and I’m actually kinda bummed I didn’t take it my freshman year. College admission officers look at your courses in the lense of what your school offers, so it’s more about taking the most challenging classes your school offers, not how many AP classes you can take at once
@@connorm_3605 Thanks! That helps narrow down my courses! Very helpful advice. Will be sure to take that into consideration along my high school journey. Thanks again 🙏
