even if you spend all three seasons being extremely confused the ending is worth it
This is so true!!!
I feel its also important to note dark isnt that scary, there's a few spooky bits but as someone who hates horror, its bearable because you're so focused on the plot

@@missmysterious5769 nothing bloody except for one scene in season 2 I think and a short scene of eyes that have been somewhat burnt away. I'm not too sure how to describe it without spoiling too much, I hope this is helpful but if its not for you that's understandable

But it has pretty violent and heavy scenes!
I love how muted all the colours are throughout the two mirror worlds, but then how vibrant the real world is. It's a beautiful cinematographic touch.
Origin world is also filmed in a different aspect ratio.

Actually Katerina’s mother wasn’t pregnant with Katerina at that time, she did have an abortion, that’s why when she killed Katerina she thought that the baby she aborted had come back to haunt her, she did however have an influence on Katerinas name.

Thank you - this part was confusing me! She said “I should’ve got rid of you too” to Katerina at some point. That must’ve been what she was talking about.
I am at a loss what people do not understand about the scene. Helene is sitting there just like the other person (in case some people still read this although they know they get spoiled) and when she is called in, the other person decides to leave and not have an abortion.
Half the people do not realize that Helene is neither the child of the person doing the abortions nor some sort of underage assistant. Then a small number realize that she is pregnant but do not realize that she is there to have an abortion herself.
But that is in 1954. If Helene was also not having an abortion her child would be over 30 years old in 1986/1987. That's why she believes the person attacking her was her aborted child.
Exactly, she even says to Katharina as a teen "I should've gotten rid of you, too!" After she comes home from killing future Katharina.
I love DARK. It’s so confusing and I love it.

I disagree that it is underrated...people that have watched and reviewed have really rated it highly. The show is under watched...it is so good that many many more people need to watch it just as you say!
dark is one of those shows that you can just keep rewatching and get something new from the experience every time, there's not many series like it
i agree 100%, probably won't ever find a show as good and more engaging than DARK. 12/10

Yes! I so want more of Dark. It is always in mind. I have all my fantasy theories about what could possibly happen! Dark is a masterpiece deserving all the awards it will never get, such as Emmy’s and Oscars!
"My only aim is to take many lives. The more the better I feel" is a quote from a Kreator song which is one of my favorite bands ever. I was so excited when it played on the show. German metal is so good. Been listening to it for more than 18 years.
Dark is literally THE BEST netflix series I have ever watched
It’s the best show for rewatching too. Like the opening scene for series 2. Once you understand exactly who they are and what they are to each other it is heartbreaking

Dark has so much foreshadowing even the opening credits do it. You get the mirrored images, sometimes even with three images, and the song lyrics. "Find out
I was just a bad dream", "neither ever, nor never
, goodbye".
I'm so happy Dark is getting the recognition it deserves! I started watching it back in 2017 and I've always thought it's so amazing and mind-blowing!
Dark raised my standards for how TV can be to the extent that I don't think anything will ever be as good as it!
It was especially refreshing for a show to be like "this is how the story will go, we need this many episodes... don't worry, we've planned EVERYTHING" before the show has even started!
Yes but I think they wanted 8 episodes for season 1 too so I feel like the first season is ab bit stretched..
Favourite easteregg was the Shining (movie) twins in the background. You have to pay attention. If I remember correctly it was S3E1 when the teens enter the school.

I watched this video the day it was uploaded. I watched till the 6 minute mark before I went to watch DARK on Netflix and now I am here, having finished all the seasons and now to finish watching this video.
Zpoilers! Fave has to be foreshadowing quantum superposition.
Yup, season 1 foreshadows the concept of someone being in two states simultaneously with Mikkel's response to Ines telling him what she calls Master Zhuang's Paradox. Ines' telling is such:
Ines:"I dreamt I was a butterfly. Now I’ve woken up and I no longer know if I’m a person who dreamed he’s a butterfly or if I’m a butterfly who’s dreaming it’s a person."
Mikkel:"Maybe I'm both"
At first this scene seems only to be about Mikkel and Michael, dreams and reality. Mikkel's past, Michael's future. The reality he can never return to, the man he must now be who one day remembers his past as though it were a dream. But now we see that it also speaks to the concept of quantum superposition that season 3 tackles.
So I watched the first part of this and started it after because I had be intrigued for a while. I came back to this video months months after I finished the series just because its still on my mind sometimes like you guys said. It really sticks with you. I have random moments where I just start gushing over how brilliant it is. And the casting was the most accurate thing ever. Blown away.
They sound like my friends and I fangirling over a show 😂
I imagine someone watching on after the spoiler alert bc they think they won't watch the show, then being like: hmm maybe I should watch it and then when watching forgetting everything, because we are all ignorant to things we haven't experienced yet. I mean in the beginning of ep 1 all of the characters were seen in their different stages and unless you go back you cant do anything with this information!
The earliest 3 world clue actually comes in the S1 intro lol
If you watch the S1 intro, the very last shot, when the title comes on screen it shows all 3 worlds!
Every time we watched the S1 intro they showed us the answer.
It’s taken me just over 6 weeks to watch all 3 series since I saw this video recommending it. It was hard work but I’m glad I stuck with it. My GCSE German came flooding back to me 😂 actually found myself hearing certain German phrases over n over in my head too (especially “ich weiß es nicht!” They said that a lot 🤣)
I knew Claudia would be the one to save them but didn’t know how. So many great bits but the little throwaway joke at the end that I liked was how they asked Wöller to finally explain about his eye and then he got cut off by the power going out before he could tell us so we’ll never know 😩🤣
I love this show so much and I’m so glad to see other people sharing it since it deserves way more attention!

Bad Kingdom was such an amazing song. It fit perfectly and I still listen to it constantly (S3E1)
At first I was like, oh interesting, then nah I don't have Netflix. Then okay, dang I really want to watch it, when you put up the boot-whatever definition; then, I'm never going to get Netflix for one show. So I started watching the spoiler part. Oh my gosh, I'm going to have to finish watching this video in a few days, after I've caught up on the show. So. Thanks! I think.
I'm at midway season 3 and it got almost TOO confusing for me with double the characters to consider, but it is amazing. Mood, setting things up, even the science seems plausible.
This show was so good that I cannot think of starting another show after watching the last episode,so this time I'm rewatching it with my mom who is watching it for the first time!

It is so deep. One month later I'm still on comment sections discovering new things. So for instance I have read incredible comments on the science or philosophical side of things. Also it does add up somewhere. Always.

And I had my warning that I have to pay attention, but after listening to u guys talk about it, I feel like I missed already soo much.
Don't worry. You don't need to catch all the clues to understand the story. Things will be revealed gradually and often in hindsight. And it's so detailed, you can talk about it for weeks and still find newr aspects of the story.

I watched Dark because of this video and finished season 3 last night. What a ride! I am heartbroken and happy all at once. I don't have it in me to rewatch it just yet but I definitely want to discuss it, or read discussions of it. Such a clever series.
Dark is the best TV show I have ever watched and it is a crime that more people have not seen it.
OMG YOU GUYS DIDN’T TALK ABOUT THE LAST SCENE!!! Hannah’s comments totally left the ending and whether or not they actually fixed the time lines up in the air! Very top wobbling at the end of inception ya know
Her comments regarding her dream, the end of the world, eternal darkness and peace, and her saying Jonas is a beautiful name are just faint echos she felt from the split and now non existent realities. Hannas son born in origin world has Woller as the father, not Michael so he can't be the same Jonas we know.
It's simply closure and once again beautifully done. Sometimes non existence is better than a tortured existence.

Just finished the show. Literally the best twisty and logical tv show ever, nothing can top this.
This show has such a rewatch value. One thing I didn’t understand is why Clausen insisted on breaking the concrete. Until someone pointed out that he thought that Alexander hid the bodies in there.
Having now seen dark, I can confirm it's trippy as hell but totally worth it

Hello and welcome back to an American who happens to be living in London and complains about the lack of Air Con.
"watching this show has ruined watching other shows" perfectly describes watching Dark. It's so dense and complicated and you feel like you're watching something brilliant. I'm a big fan of the OA, and have been looking for something psychedelic that plays with time and Dark was that and so much more. I still don't entirely understand everything that happened--especially the initial mystery of the missing children tbh--but it makes me excited to rewatch and pick it apart.
I've seen Dark, I'm now watching 3% and Money Heist. Now I'm just wondering how many great shows are out there, that I just have been hesitating to watch, or don't even know about, because it's in a language I don't speak.
3% is beyond amazing!
Money heist is fantastic and crazy in the most exciting way
I recommend Curon, it's in Italian and it's really good.

I felt sorry for Ulrich and Alt-Hannah because of what happened to them but not Alt-Ulrich and Hannah because of what they did.

One nice detail to distinguish the two worlds in season 3 - in Jonas' world it always rains, in Martha's world it's always foggy.
Also interesting, the whole show starts with Jonas' father taking a life (suicide) and it ends with Jonas' mother giving a life (pregnant).
Already watched it all. It's fantastic.
The priest is slicing an apple using an Opinel folding knife - a knife popular before WW2. :)
The Table scene at the end - I didn't understand the significance of it until it was explained to me.

Ok, had to just pause this video because I was avidly watching Dark a month ago and stoped at S3 E2 because my brain hurt trying to keep everyone and everything straight. But you just convinced me to go back and finish it up.
i loved the ending, it felt like a long time coming as all jonas wanted in s1 was for all the pain to end and he finally got what he wanted. my favourite easter egg was the ariadne symbolism as i love greek mythology and the parallels with dark were so perfectly interwoven, there are lots of interesting articles about it online.

There is the theory that both worlds, Tannhaus world and the two mirror worlds, still exist even after the ending. I like that one most personally because it makes the most sense with the cycle and the plot, whilst also allowing for that super satisfying ending.
Plus, there’s that scene at the end with Hannah noticing the yellow jacket and feeling a sense of deja-vu, and deciding to name her child Jonas.
Snap back to S1E1, with Jonas and Martha charring in the woods. What’s deja-vu according to Martha? A message from the other side; the echoes from the Jonas in the mirror world who still exists in perpetuity ;)

I started watching this in German, along with German subtitles. As I’m also learning the language via Duolingo. I did it on one of your vlogs suggestions. But of course, am now totally submersed in the show. I’m only at an early stage learning wise, so it’s slow going. I’m just finishing the first series. I’m reading preambles about each show first etc - to help me follow it. Would you recommend continuing watching it in German?
