Exactly plus she and her husband probably didn't search the many FREE dog training videos. Wow, $1100 to teach the Corgi to walk on a leash, sit, stay, come, etc.
She's sneaky. Not only did she not pay him the rest because she saw well her dog was and didn't need the rest of his services, she also saw that the contract said non-refundable and figured if she didn't actually sign it then what it says would be void. Nobody fills out paperwork half way unless they disagree with something...that's sneaky.
I agree plus the plaintiffs probably didn't search RUclips for the many FREE dog training videos available. The defendant is a good trainer but teaching a dog to walk on a leash is easy. He's a good salesman describing his technique as "unique" but in reality what he's describing (rewarding good eye contact, surprising the dog with a leash pull) is based on what we learned from Ivan Pavlov the Russian physiologist 100 years ago.
Plaintiff tried to be slick by taking photos of the contract then left her dog. She intentionally did not want to sign the contract knowing she could use the "I never signed the contract" as a way to get a refund. Serves her right to lose this case..
She had no case, signed contract or not. When you give a deposit, you are making a commitment, contract or not. That is why it is the default for a deposit to be nonrefundable, because you consciencly made that choice. Only time you can get it back is it is stated in a contract, but you would have had to have signed that contract in order for that to happen. This is what happens when cons don't know the laws and try to be greedy.
I kinda think the defendent is right. She got what she needed and just wanted it for free. Or otherwise they found out their friend could watch the dog for free and wanted to renege on the deal.
Yep, she’s a brat and should have to pay the rest for using his hard work and then dumping the rest of his services down the drain. It’s especially telling when she denies the benefits her dog received. I’m sure by now the dog lost what it was taught... Her loss in the end!
She’s a snot! She knew very well that paying the deposit means it’s a commitment! The fact that she lied about the video, refused to show it in court and then downplayed his service to the dog screams bs! I don’t blame him at all for keeping his deposit because it hurts his business when cheap ppl like her ask for his services then change her mind last second. It’d be one thing if an emergency occurred like she were in the hospital but to decide to be cheap in the end and use her friend for free pupsitting while demanding a refund is crap! Especially after he worked so hard with her dog
I can only imagine the hissy fit Wesley had to listen to on their way home from court 😆 He seems to young to look so broken. She seems like she was never told NO.
Ohh and no one buys the bs that she didn’t sign because her husband needed to approve... we all can see through that one lady! He looks terrified like she’s going to attack at any second
I agree 2 hours with a professional dog trainer can do a lot for a dog. Even if it was refundable the deposit she should still have to pay for his service
I love how at the end during her exit interview with Doug she says that she went in for an evaluation and didn’t expect to commit to anything and now he has her money. The thing is is that in her testimony earlier she said she went there to have the dog evaluated and took enough cash with her to pay the deposit. Maybe I’m wrong but if you’re going there with enough cash to pay the deposit I feel like that does kind of imply like you were expecting to commit to some thing.
Especially when she said it was supposed to be 950, which would have made the deposit for only 475. Yet She brought enough for the 1100, 550 like he had said, it was between 950 and 1100 depending on the dog. Why would you fill everything out but not sign it, take pictures of it, then give a deposit. If you were not committing yourself to anything, you wouldn't be leaving a deposit. A deposit is a commitment. She really had no case. All she did was expose herself for who she is.
Bringing enough money is normal tho. It's like you bring enough money to buy an air jordan, go to the store, and decided not to buy anything afterward. It's perfectly normal. Paying the deposit, on the other hand, that's not normal for "I haven't decided yet". If she hadn't decided, then don't pay the deposit....
So as a trainer myself I always work with the parents of the dog as well as often more than not the human is the issue in bad behavior. I say dogs are cute and we love them but think of them as children and teach them from the beginning that because you are cute you aren't going to get by with acting bad. Bad dog owners and bad dog behavior get people or other pets hurt. Plaintiff is the issue.
You’re absolutely right and what you do is all to important! You should be paid for the services you provide, this girl is a snot! Shame on her being such a narcissist
plaintiff is NOT! a nice person! she's done stuff similar to this before, probably gotten her way too, she was TOO! confident bringing this to Court, knowing she didn't sign the contract, but so confident that she would win, REALITY check today!
Bahahaha I was thinking this same thing. Like news reporters, they ALWAYS go to the weird and freaky ones first. Hate to say it but he might be Trump's brother 🤣🤣😂🤣😂
The plaintiff knew what she was doing when she conveniently partially filled out the contract. She figured she could string the defendant along for the day and if he refused to return the deposit she could fall back on “well I never signed the contract”. I wouldn’t be surprised if her friend offered to take care of the dog and that was the entire reason why she changed her mind. It like the judge said, whether you sign something or not, once you hand over a deposit, it is by nature something that is non-refundable.
I worked at a motel and we had people sign a reservation card, then later sign a deposit agreement. This way we not only checked that they signed but that the signatures matched. People with no morals often have little tricks they use, like not signing or changing the signature, so it looked forged.
I think she actually took her husband instead of the dog to the training session. She's got him trained perfectly! Either way though, she got her money's worth. 😂😂
Very good decision for the dog trainer. The dog became better after a short time and those young people thought they was going to renign on their training, because the friend was cheaper.
Glad the guy didn't get screwed because clearly the Judge saw right through this girl trying to get services without paying. How about these dog owners actually spend time with their animals and train them? I trained mine. It's like being a parent. If you have children, you are responsible for guiding them, teaching them.... idk man these newer generations feel owed. Lol the world doesn't agree.
I find it amusing how these people are so eager and willing to give a deposit to someone.....but then, after they've taken a minute to think things through, they get cold feet and change their mind and they think that they are entitled to have their deposit refunded, no questions asked. This young lady's husband spoke with the defendant at length on the phone. They told the defendant very clearly what they wanted....they wanted him to board their dog for 2 weeks while they were away and they wanted him to do some training with their dog. The gentleman quoted them a price and said he expected $550 for a deposit to hold their spot. The lady brings her dog to the gentleman's kennel....she admits that she's impressed with how he handles the dog and she DOES give him the $550. The gentleman does some work with the dog and both admit to progress being made with the dog. Now suddenly, the woman has changed her mind and doesn't want to pay the man, even though she's given him a deposit AND he's already started working with the dog. Is he just expected to do the work for nothing?
I work in a similar field. I work for a dog groomer. She will often have a full day scheduled. We all show up and then 5 appointments will cancel. Then we're all out of money. I've even said we should do deposits, especially for those that constantly make appointments the cancel last minute. Customers that would have been there were unable to schedule because those spots were filled. I completely get where this trainer is coming from. His time and the reservation of his time is money. When she couldn't get her deposit back, she should've just got her dog the training.
Thieves come with pretty faces. She had a plan and it didn’t work. Next time she will do better. As a business owner, never, never, never do any work without a completely filled out and signed contract or repair order. To many amoral like her out there.
