PAL refers to Games and Game Consoles released in Europe. This is a mostly retro thing so most modern consoles won't have this. PAL Consoles are made with slightly enhanced graphics at the cost of slower gameplay. Most Retro Games played on a PAL Machine will have the "widescreen effect" which squishes the game and thats why its squished with lines at the top and bottom of the screen. SOME Games do that advantage of the extra screen estate. Eg. Knuckles Chaotix. RedHotSonic has a Detailed series comparing NSTC[America/Japan 60HZ] and PAL[Europe/50HZ]^^ I suggest watching the video about Sonic 1 so get a better understanding also Thanks
