Having asked for this video before, I'm very grateful and you did my favorite planeswalker justice. What drew me to Gideon was his traditional heroic traits, story, paladin flavor and unique mechanic that allows him to act as a creature.
I first started playing Magic right around the original Innistrad block, and ever since I first started learning the lore of what was going on, Gideon became my favorite character, and has been ever since. While I have to admit that I was really sad to see him go, I definitely have to say that he went out with honor, and it was a respectable way to do it. This was an awesome video, I'm really glad to have found it because it wraps up all of his story very nicely. Thank you for making it! I love Gideon so much I got a foil copy of the really expensive Pro Tour promo Ally of Zendikar, and it's literally my favorite card I have in my collection. And that means it's even above my other two "rare" Gideons, the SDCC Kytheon and the SDCC Gideon of the Trials (which has AMAZING art btw!). ...Yeah, I like Gideon a lot🤣
You, me, the same!! Haha! I also started playing during the original Innistrad block, and while my first favorite Planeswalker was Sorin, Gideon quickly became the #1 best boy for me. He's been dead for years now but I still miss him. 😭 Did you ever read the Magic comics from Boom Studios? There's a really heartfelt and sentimental moment between Liliana and Gideon's spirit. A final goodbye. It's so sweet.
@sparkymularkey6970 I miss him too! So much! 😭 But you know what? I DON'T want them to revive him! Even though they could come up with an excuse for it, considering he's both from a Plane with an afterlife system, AND died on an Egypt-themed Plane, I don't want it! He went out a total hero, and that's how I want to remember him. I'll admit that no I didn't read the comics myself, but I have watched several reviews and read throughs of the series, so in a way it kinda is like I read them. So I know what you're talking about about specifically, and it was a touching moment. I kinda feel like even though she is a Black-aligned Planeswalker, that he "passed the torch" to her in a way, and that now she's going to really be a "good guy" for the rest of the series
Your videos are truly great. You are an amazing narrator and I really enjoy learning more about MTG's lore through your videos. Can't even imagine the amount of work that goes into making these but it really shows in both the quality and editing and just wanted to say thank you for the great content!
Thanks so much for the kind words! A lot of thought and effort go into each of my videos, but you are all more than deserving. An amazing community and I'm very grateful
Nicol Bolas ~ And I would have got away with it to if it weren't for you medaling planeswalkers! Gideon is cool, but he's also the reason my favorite villain didn't succeed lol
Making an Oath of Redemption Paladin in 5e, and modeling him after Gideon. Such a powerful character, in both a physical and mental sense. Should be fun.
Finally! I also asked for this video. After going through all your magic the gathering videos. Even though other channels have done his story, I wanted to have it from here. This is where content just feels like home
The timing on this video drop was perfect for me. I just bought a new MTG deck a couple days ago, and with it, I'm trying out 7 Gideon Planeswalker cards. He fit the niche I was going for, and after deciding the Planeswalker that can attack as a creature fit my deck building needs, I was immediately curious of his lore. I watched your Nikol Bolas video, so I knew you would give a faithful Gideon story. Your storytelling script and reading pacing make for very compelling videos, and including cards in them definitely adds a sense of authenticity in this interpretation of his story. Well done.
Just found this channel, started with Nicol Bolas, and I'd like to see you do Ajani next! I know there are other videos on him but I like your style and delivery. Thanks for the great content.
My favorite character in the history of Magic: the Gathering. I have always loved playing a Paladin (or a Shaman in the Horde--until I could have a Tauren Paladin) or other "warrior of light" class (like Paragon in Guild Wars 1). Call me silly or old-fashioned, but this old man will be the fan of the Superman/Captain America of a fictional universe.
When I was young, I liked all of the morally gray anti-hero characters. I thought the genuine and earnest Good Guys were for chumps. But as I've gotten older, I've found that there is so much to admire in those Captain America-esque good guys who genuinely want to do the right thing. Gideon has become my favorite.
Thanks for the video of my 2nd favorite planeswalker (Teferi is my #1), you did my man justice (see what I did there?)! Are you making vids of all of the planeswalkers? Can't wait for Tibalt! 👹 Keep up the good work!!
"The hero with the magic sword slays the dragon? Not this time."
Nice to see more MTG content. Many thanks.

It took me time to get to him, but I remember the suggestion! Glad you enjoyed
Wonderful story, beginning to end.
Him and Liliana were my favorite member throughout the whole Gatewatch storyline.

Liliana as a black and white aligned card would be so cool to see
The best boi of all * salute *
I live listening to the lore videos when im working! Keep em coming
Love to hear it!

Nicol Bolas did nothing wrong.

Dope my favorite planeswalker is Ajani Goldmane
Ajani is a great character, would love to cover his story sometime down the line
I FEEL LIKE I HAVENT SEEN ONE OF THESE IN SO LONG MY BODY IS READY
I am so so so happy to see a new video by you, ESPECIALLY an MTG lore video 🥰🥰
Appreciate it!
Still such a great way to study and digest magic lore. Thank you kindly.
I knew all (or, most) of the bits and pieces of his story but it’s always cool to see it concentrated in one place

Appreciate it and welcome to the channel! Ajani is a great suggestion, one of my favorite characters

Been waiting for this one :) Keep up the amazing work dude.
MTG is so good on so many levels.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed!
I want a deck built around this now… if anyone has a suggestion, drop it below!
Please sir can I have some more Planeswalker lore?❤
He saw Liliana and said "I can fix her." 🤣
Thanks for the video of my 2nd favorite planeswalker (Teferi is my #1), you did my man justice (see what I did there?)! Are you making vids of all of the planeswalkers? Can't wait for Tibalt! 👹 Keep up the good work!!
Glad you enjoyed! I do hope to make it through most planeswalkers, at least the major/significant characters throughout the storyline
MTG lore is awesome the more videos the better.
Hell yes
Sucks they killed him off...
He died honorable and modest
It wouldn’t surprise me if they somehow bring him back.
10/10
