I just opened my unit. turned it on without realizing the filter had a bag around it. I ran it for a few hours and was questioning why the air flow was so poor. Glad I watched your video this morning lol. I hope the motor was ok, It was actually a little warm after like 4 hours
@@sammysmithy The handle side of the filter was facing the fan of the purifier, I was surprised at how quiet it was on max setting 😅😭 There was virtually no airflow going on, but the manual does say that you can place the filter in either way which is very misleading.
I have had this air purifier for a year. I use it in my bedroom and only run it at night. It has really helped with my sinus issues (dust and pet dander). I usually run it on the 2nd speed and the filter light just went on today.
I feel like an idiot I've had mine for a whole year and never realized. I've been using it this whole time wondering if it was ever really working. Now I know why. My first night without the plastic bag lol
I really like mine. My prefilter gets pretty dusty quick which means it’s doing its job. It has very strong airflow on the highest setting. I don’t think it’s too loud. It sounds like a white noise machine so I run it at night in my bedroom. One of things they don’t mention for these is the volume of a room. My bedroom is close to 250 sq feet, but it has 12 foot ceilings. I wish they would mention that in the specs. Levoit makes a bigger one to cover more area, but it costs almost 3-4x more. If you have a bigger area, I would consider just getting 2 of these and spread them out in a bigger room. If the noise doesn’t bother you, 2 or more of these spread out could easily clear a larger area faster than one big one. I just wish I could use with smart plugs. When unplugged, they don’t remember their power setting, so you have to physically turn the button back on.

In case you didn't find the room coverage info, the Core 300 is for rooms up to 215 sq. ft., in some manuals it says 219 sq. ft., but that's not a big difference. I must agree with you that in some cases it's better to buy two Core 300 air purifiers than one bigger and more expensive air purifier.

@@keepitstraightfrrr You vacuum the outer filter, the nylon outer filter. I also put the vacuum home around the outside base hole and vacuum them too, and inside the chamber.

An outer nylon filter that picks up larger stuff like a lot of dust and stuff, and inside is the smaller true hepa filter that catches micro particles, and the charcoal filter for minor odors is also inside. You need to regularly vacuum the crap that collects on the nylon to allow the filter the suck up the smaller particles inside the true hepa filter.
Please be aware that PM and dust is not the whole story. A good air purifier should also handle effectively VOCs and Formaldehyde. Not sure why Leovit is not including results for VOCs filtering. 200S in my home test with VOCs monitors performed very poor. Hopefully 300S with RF-TX filter (it''s not the one comes with device) can get better results. All the best and thanks for the nice video!

Was recently made aware that these are not HEPA as they have removed that from their advertising on their website and replacement filters. Too bad because I bought them because of that.
That’s normal because the air purifier is a few times more efficient on the third speed. I usually suggest to all consumers to start the air purifier at the maximum fan speed and then lowering the fan speed after a certain amount of time.

It depends on the concentration of smoke. If there is a lot of smoke, and if it is there all the time, then my suggestion is to try the air purifier with a bigger carbon filter. Some recommendations: Levoit LV-PUR131 or Winix 5500-2.

Both are similar budget air purifiers that have received positive reviews from owners and both made by companies based out of California. Is there any way you can do a detailed review like this on the Renpho RP-AP088B/W? So glad I found this video! I had no idea I needed to clean the outer portion of the filter. I honestly thought it'd stopped working after a month. I wiped it down and the cigarette smell from my neighbors is gone again!
I'm planning to purchase this air purifier to be able to smoke cigarette into the flat. I care about my neighbors and I understand that there might be some that do not like that odor. So do you think it will work as I expect?, I am planning to smoke close to the device and exhale directly to it.

The Levoit Core 300 should work fine in a room that size. It's much smaller, and the filter replacement expenses for Core 300 are cheaper than for Winix 5500-2.
@@justinianovisual I would say its better. The air is definitely cleaner and I take out a handful of dust from the prefilter about once a week. I leave it on 24/7 on high. I think the carbon filter also reduces smell quite a bit. Its time for mosquitos to come out and I removed 2 or 3 from the prefilter the other day. I consider that pretty nice since mosquitos suck.
I bought a Levoit 350 and can't seem to find the filters on there website, the only ones I'm seeing is for the 300 model. Does the filter for the 300 model work for the 350?
Just cancelled my vista 200 order and upgraded to the Core 300 based on your reviews. Not much bigger but seems to do a much better job of cleaning the air. One question I want to know is how this handles cigarette smoke? I get constant passive smoke from neighbours so i'm hoping this will stop me feeling nauseous.
Good choice! It all depends on the amount of smoke, it could neutralize it, but the filter will get dirty rapidly if you use the air purifier in a room with a lot of smoke.

I've tested it and there was no plastic or chemical smell. Besides, I've tested many Levoit products and everything was perfectly okay and with no smells.

As I can see, the smart app, room coverage, and design are the only differences. I haven't tested the Levoit Core 200s, so I can't choose which one is a better option.
This device is a life saver. I am in the middle of 20+ wildfires happening in the Northern CA / NV area, I live in Reno. the smoke is so bad you can't see your neighbors' house or the mountains some days. I have asthma so I can't go outside and I've been wheezing inside all day. I ordered this, the 300 model, and left it on all morning. I'm no longer wheezing and the air actually doesn't smell bad or have a thick texture. I'm very glad I ordered this

There are 4 different filters you can use with this purifier. Ordered on the side. It only comes with one of the 4 types of filters offered by the company. They have different colors to indicate their special benefits.

how on earth is this a performance test, there are almost no objective opinions based on how it cleaned your room. Your simply reading off bullet points of its spec sheet which we can already do on amazon!
It catches some pet hair, but I suggest getting a bigger and more powerful air purifier if the pet hair is your main concern. I can suggest the Winix 5500-2.

I use two levoit air purifier & pro breeze purifier in my living room, i suffer from allergic rhinitis & eczema , all 3 have helped my bod be able breath better and the fresh air (loads/chunks) of it, the air qiality improved so much in my living room, i need to invest in at least two more (one for my corridor and my bedroom)
Can anyone please tell me if Air Purifiers alter the air pressure in room? Ever since I switched the Levoit 300s I feel like my EARS getting blocked as in an airplane. Any of you having this feeling or it maybe a coincidence that my ears clogged for some reason at the very same moment? Second question is that on the medium speed the device has like a very low whistling like sound. Not on low or high. I hear it only on medium fan speed. Its hard to describe this sound but its like a plane engine but on a low volume. Please help!
I bought a 300 months ago, and have been loving it! However, there is an Amazon review, a Reddit thread, and a RUclips video about Levoit having particularly strong EMF readings. In the video the person shows a Levoit (not the 300) being tested with a handheld EMF meter... but the person does not seem well versed on how to use their meter, nor do they give context to the readings... They don't say what the device reads for other things - it would have been interesting to compare with what the device read for that person's cellphone, or laptop, or wifi router, for instance. Your video was so clear and intelligent- I wish you would assess what is going on with the EMF situation and these filters. Would you?
According to the video you are talking about, please go through the comments and find the reply by the author, where he said: "...after posting this I have found out its normal for a big electric motor spinning fast will inevitably create a high electromagnetic field...". Also, you can find more content on this topic on the EPA website. Besides, I answered a similar question a few months ago, so you could try to find that answer in the comments. Great product and idea, but why can't I feel any suction on the inlet? I can only feel something when I tough the slots. How does this capture the bad air, if I can't feel the suction?
Anyone know how this works for dust? I was going to get this but I decided to get a Greenote instead because it was 50% off and had great reviews. I get it and the power button barely works. Have to press down ridiculously hard.. and it doesn't seem to do anything as far as cleaning the air.. I have a horrible dust problem in my bedroom which I clean every single day. and I set this on my TV stand and the same exact layer of dust was there the next morning.. what a joke.. so I don't know if it's defective. Not sure if I should have it replaced or just get the refund and spend the extra money on this one..

I have a question: I had party in my apartment and everybody smoked and I kept it on, now the the air that comes out of the product smells like cigarettes, I kept it on all night, I even put it outside for a bit but still smells. Is there a way to clean it or to "air" it or what to do? :D

Hi, my carpet releases lots of fibers, will this help remove some? The carpet also collects alot of dust, and when you vacuum it the dust flies everywhere.
I got 2 of these because I seem to have a lot of stale air and stuff in my apartment. One is the smaller version for $42. Seems to be eliminating the bad smells in the air and making the house overall better to breath in. I didn’t realize air particles could carry that much of a smell but it seems to be the case
I just got my air purifier a month ago. I've noticed tha red light coming on already? We've tried several things and the red light is coming on being run usually during daylight hours. I really need to get relief quickly and it works great during the day and I don't know why the Red light comes on so quickly? Its detrimental that I find a quick solution to this problem! This is a great unit. Every week or two I take out the filter and vacuum the outer nylon filter to prolong the life and efficiency of the filter. :)

Awesome review, very detailed and helpful! I am cross shopping this Levoit Core 300 with the Renpho RP-AP088B/W. Both are similar budget air purifiers that have received positive reviews from owners and both made by companies based out of California.
Is there any way you can do a detailed review like this on the Renpho RP-AP088B/W? Maybe like a head-to-head review to determine which is best comparing all specs, features, performance, warranties, filter costs, etc?

So glad I found this video! I had no idea I needed to clean the outer portion of the filter. I honestly thought it'd stopped working after a month. I wiped it down and the cigarette smell from my neighbors is gone again!

I'm planning to purchase this air purifier to be able to smoke cigarette into the flat. I care about my neighbors and I understand that there might be some that do not like that odor. So do you think it will work as I expect?, I am planning to smoke close to the device and exhale directly to it.
My bedroom is small, maybe 110 to 120 sq.ft . I am thinking about Levoit Core 300 or Winix 5500-2, I guess Winix is better performance, but It seems make for bigger size room like living room. The Levoit Core 300 should work fine in a room that size. It's much smaller, and the filter replacement expenses for Core 300 are cheaper than for Winix 5500-2.

@@justinianovisual I would say its better. The air is definitely cleaner and I take out a handful of dust from the prefilter about once a week. I leave it on 24/7 on high. I think the carbon filter also reduces smell quite a bit. Its time for mosquitos to come out and I removed 2 or 3 from the prefilter the other day. I consider that pretty nice since mosquitos suck.

I bought a Levoit 350 and can't seem to find the filters on there website, the only ones I'm seeing is for the 300 model. Does the filter for the 300 model work for the 350?
I don't have the Levoit Core 350 model to compare the filters, but I think the filter from Core 300 can fit into the Core 350.
Just cancelled my vista 200 order and upgraded to the Core 300 based on your reviews. Not much bigger but seems to do a much better job of cleaning the air. One question I want to know is how this handles cigarette smoke? I get constant passive smoke from neighbours so i'm hoping this will stop me feeling nauseous.
Good choice! It all depends on the amount of smoke, it could neutralize it, but the filter will get dirty rapidly if you use the air purifier in a room with a lot of smoke.

You don't have to bother with that, just turn it on, and I am sure that you will feel the difference in the air after a while.

Why do people on Amazon complain about a plastic smell, where could that be coming from?
I've tested it and there was no plastic or chemical smell. Besides, I've tested many Levoit products and everything was perfectly okay and with no smells.
they probably arent removing the bag around the filter. Ive seen legit reviews where they open the box and plug it in.

Hey I cant seem to find a comparison between the core 200 and the vista 200. Is the only real difference the wifi functionality and such, or is it worth spending the extra few bucks? Thanks.
As I can see, the smart app, room coverage, and design are the only differences. I haven't tested the Levoit Core 200s, so I can't choose which one is a better option.
This device is a life saver. I am in the middle of 20+ wildfires happening in the Northern CA / NV area, I live in Reno. the smoke is so bad you can't see your neighbors' house or the mountains some days. I have asthma so I can't go outside and I've been wheezing inside all day. I ordered this, the 300 model, and left it on all morning. I'm no longer wheezing and the air actually doesn't smell bad or have a thick texture. I'm very glad I ordered this

Great video thanks! One question. I got a unit yesterday and at the end of the day, I checked the filter to see what had been collected and it looked completely clean. Is this normal and supposed to happen? I ask because I have days and was expecting hair to be collected but I can't see anything

There are 4 different filters you can use with this purifier. Ordered on the side. It only comes with one of the 4 types of filters offered by the company. They have different colors to indicate their special benefits.

If you don't find a better purpose for your Core 300, then using it as a fan shouldn't be an issue.
how on earth is this a performance test, there are almost no objective opinions based on how it cleaned your room. Your simply reading off bullet points of its spec sheet which we can already do on amazon!

It catches some pet hair, but I suggest getting a bigger and more powerful air purifier if the pet hair is your main concern. I can suggest the Winix 5500-2.

I use two levoit air purifier & pro breeze purifier in my living room, i suffer from allergic rhinitis & eczema , all 3 have helped my bod be able breath better and the fresh air (loads/chunks) of it, the air qiality improved so much in my living room, i need to invest in at least two more (one for my corridor and my bedroom)
Can anyone please tell me if Air Purifiers alter the air pressure in room? Ever since I switched the Levoit 300s I feel like my EARS getting blocked as in an airplane. Any of you having this feeling or it maybe a coincidence that my ears clogged for some reason at the very same moment?
Second question is that on the medium speed the device has like a very low whistling like sound. Not on low or high. I hear it only on medium fan speed. Its hard to describe this sound but its like a plane engine but on a low volume.

I bought a 300 months ago, and have been loving it! However, there is an Amazon review, a Reddit thread, and a RUclips video about Levoit having particularly strong EMF readings. In the video the person shows a Levoit (not the 300) being tested with a handheld EMF meter... but the person does not seem well versed on how to use their meter, nor do they give context to the readings... They don't say what the device reads for other things - it would have been interesting to compare with what the device read for that person's cellphone, or laptop, or wifi router, for instance. Your video was so clear and intelligent- I wish you would assess what is going on with the EMF situation and these filters. Would you?
According to the video you are talking about, please go through the comments and find the reply by the author, where he said: "...after posting this I have found out its normal for a big electric motor spinning fast will inevitably create a high electromagnetic field...".
Also, you can find more content on this topic on the EPA website. Besides, I answered a similar question a few months ago, so you could try to find that answer in the comments.
Anyway, thanks for the great suggestion, I will consider buying an EMF meter, and after checking every single device, I will update the articles on the Air Purifier First website.

Great product and idea, but why can't I feel any suction on the inlet? I can only feel something when I tough the slots. How does this capture the bad air, if I can't feel the suction?
It depends on which speed you are running it.
Every speed has different CFM and based on that suction on the inlet is higher or lower.
Anyone know how this works for dust? I was going to get this but I decided to get a Greenote instead because it was 50% off and had great reviews. I get it and the power button barely works. Have to press down ridiculously hard.. and it doesn't seem to do anything as far as cleaning the air.. I have a horrible dust problem in my bedroom which I clean every single day. and I set this on my TV stand and the same exact layer of dust was there the next morning.. what a joke.. so I don't know if it's defective. Not sure if I should have it replaced or just get the refund and spend the extra money on this one..

I just got my air purifier a month ago. I've noticed tha red light coming on already? We've tried several things and the red light is coming on being run usually during daylight hours. I really need to get relief quickly and it works great during the day and I don't know why the Red light comes on so quickly? Its detrimental that I find a quick solution to this problem!
