None of the Royal family are currently living at Buckingham Palace, as it's continuing to be refurbished (it's work that has been going on for the last two years) so it was never an option for him to stay there. If he had wanted to stay , instead of spending less than one hour in London and flying straight back to the USA he could of easily stayed with one of his Royal cousins with whom he hasn't quite burnt all his bridges with.

It seems so strange to me. He travelled all that way for only a 12 minute meeting. Surely they are longing for a reunion. Why did Charles not invite him to come to Sandringham with him? I am sure there is a spare bedroom for him. They will regret all this when it is too late. Also why did he need to stay in a hotel? There must be heaps of spare bedrooms at Clarence House. I would find it hard to stay so angry. This was a perfect moment for a reconciliation. A wasted outcome.
Prince William looks thin in this video, like he's lost 20-30 pounds.
And he looks tired, with some dark circles around his eyes.
He appears somber, and dutiful, just like he always has when he knows that it's expected of him
I remember how he was like that as a teenager too, he had that same brave serious look, (put on to be his "game face"), when he had a job to do.
You could tell that William always knew that much was expected of him, and he didn't want to let anybody down. (Especially his mother Diana).
He used to want to try to carry on her work after she died, and her idea for humanity and helping people.
I get it, that Prince William is very angry at Harry even still, but I just realized something important.
And that is; that since their father King Charles is in the beginning stages of cancer, maybe he might do better, at least mentally and emotionally, if he knew that he could have some rest and peace from his sons' continuing animosity, and the rift between them.
Charles himself even said to his sons not to fight, and make his last years a misery.
Well, I'm sure that William loves his father, and sometimes love involves sacrifice, and it would be helpful and beneficial to their father the King, if William put aside his hard feelings towards Harry, at least temporarily, for the sake of his father King Charles, and try to be civil to Harry, so that he can at least have a fairly good visit with his father too?
Because it would surely cut down on Charles's stress level.
That's all well said and good but I don't think Prince William needs the added stress in dealing with his brother... The issues do not only involve brothers and will take more time and trust if any that's left..

Unceasing Prayer for King Charles as he navigates through his cancer diagnosis, treatment and recovery.
I'm glad that Harry went to see his father and will ideally stay for a while to sincerely support and sit through treatments with him. But, if history repeats itself, Harry made an appearance only to do an immediate turnaround to CA. But actually, I feel that Harry's visit to London is simply for SENSATIONALISM!!!
Harry is emotionally unavailable with arrested development, so he hasn't considered the seriousness of King Charles' diagnosis. We don't know details about the visit length. My guess is that King Charles had Treatment Fatigue or enough of Harry's Delusion Of Grandeur Demands. Nevertheless, Harry started gathering Content from the moment he was informed of his father's diagnosis to every step along the way and to visiting King Charles. It's about $$$$ for Harry.
The Diagnosis and Treatment has Mental and Physical Side Effects. King Charles needs Love and Support through this journey. Meanwhile he is focused on his Mortality and Recovery.
Prince William and RF members are also affected by King Charles diagnosis and concerned about his Mortality. Duty Calls and are being carried out.
