Your tutorials are excellent. I especially appreciate the step by step procedures at a speed that doesn't require cutting it in half and the absence of accompanying music, as some "tutors" do. 5 Star quality. Thank you very much.
Thank you very, very much! I’ve been trying to slow down and when I watch tutorials, the background music can be distracting, so I leave it out on mine.
I learned to make a flower and the best I learned how the clone tool works. the tool to make the flower and all in one. marvelous. I'm new to your channel and congratulations excellent content!
This is by far the coolest 8 minutes of my 2023. (I did take longer than 8 minutes but i eventually got my gorgeous flower and it just made my day!). You're the best, i LOVE your teaching, please don't ever stop creating.
Thank you very much. I had the last 3 years an old version. I loved it. Habit animal, had me once downloaded a new version and did not get along with it at all and switched back to the old version. Yesterday I downloaded the newest. Your tutorials are great and I made much of this flowers. Fantastic. 😁 Today I will made other things you show us.
I have so much fun to learn new skills with you. Thank you for showing me that online tutorials can be so much well prepared. Everything explained, you show where to click and what are the options.
Such a gorgeous effect! I really appreciate that you explained and demonstrated each of the Create Tiled Clone settings independently for our greater understanding of what's happening under the hood, rather than jumping straight to the finale (and leave us wondering, "why/how does this result happen?"). Well, at least for me, 'cause I'm the type of person that likes to tinker and build a clock, rather than just buy one. ;-) Thanks for the vid!
That is awesome! Thanks, again I followed along and could create the same thing. You make learning inkscape fun and exciting Thank you for these tutorials.
This is just simply, simply, amazing. I love flowers and this just hit the spot for me. Thank you so much for showing how much we can do with Inkscape, makes me appreciate it just even more about what it can do if you get more familiar with it. Thank you so much for your work, and we're always happy if you decide to bring us more of this pure enjoyment :)
Yay! I finally came back to do this tutorial, and I found out that it's fun! Super quick, and with different results every time. The way the flower just popped onto the screen from this seemingly unrelated shape is pretty cool. I can see so many possible uses for this beyond flowers, which I'm excited to try. One issue I had was that I can't use extensions now (because 1.2 on my old computer, etc), so I jittered the nodes manually then proceeded with the rest. If anyone can explain to me in plain English how to fix this extensions issue, I'm listening!
Cool! I love this one. Floral design is kind of satisfying to see come together. As for jitter nodes. Try doing Path-Object to Path first on the star shape. Then Extensions- Modify Path- Jitter nodes. Hope this helps!!
@@IronEchoDesign Lol, nooo. It's already a path. I can't use extensions _at all_ - every extension just returns a long non-error error message. The only help I've found is super jargony, so I'm still stuck trying to find workarounds for a lot of functions.
Hi Rick, another excellent tutorial, thanks for taking the time to share it with us 👍 I wonder if this technique could be used to create a firework explosion?
Hi, thank you for your tutorial it's incredible. :) I run into an issue when I try to save it into .eps when I create more than one flower and I am unable to figure out why I just repeated the process one by one and the EPS file only shows one even though I got 6.
Your tutorials are awesome, ty for taking the time to help us….I tried following along but I couldn’t get my Center to focus down to that small pink circle… mine looks like a bursted paintball… any idea why?
Let's fix this! Do you mean the flower center is too big? What number do you have for clones? 1 x 25? If so, it could be the Scale tab. What do you have for a percentage there?
@@IronEchoDesign Ahhh, you’re answered. I actually found I had the Y axis on a number from one of your last segments I followed along with, so once I changed that, it was better…BUT… mine is quite blurry. I find I don’t have a “pencil” tool in my fill and stroke… how do I find that? I just have a “+” … how do I add the pencil?
Thank you! Color wheel can be selected when you're on the Fill and Stroke menu. Select an object or make any object on the canvas, and from the Fill tab (or Stroke Tab) on the menu, you'll see the heading Flat Color and several buttons under it. Look for the Wheel button and select it. Let me know if that works, and thanks again!
Hi Rick, brilliant tutorial thanks :) I had trouble making the adjustments at the 2:30 mark in the video. If I click on the gradient bar to place another color the fill goes solid for the whole design. Also I do not have a 'pencil' on my RH menu, only an eyedropper, which does appear to bring up the gradient bars. Finally the color pallete you have on screen - how did you make that available to use in the design? I only have the color pallete along the bottom of the screen and can't achieve the same effect using that. BTW I am on Inkscape 1.2.2 if that helps. Thanks :)
Thanks! I’ll have to check what version of Inkscape this was. Probably 1.1. The gradient features can be found by selecting the Edit Gradients tool on the left side menu. I like the new gradient slider in 1.2, but the old controls are still needed for some changes. The color palette is found on the Fill and Stroke menu of you select Color wheel. Hope this helps!
@@IronEchoDesign it looks like it's all under the big one..no distinction as the size of the flower steps down.. And yes the gradient is also not working when clone tiles are created.
I was going to write to say I suspect it to be a gradient issue. Try changing the gradient so there is no transparency. Click on each stop of the gradient and move the transparency slider to full opacity for each one. Then the clones will show up better. Let me know if it works!
I believe the colors can still be changed later than that. If memory serves, you go to Clones- Unlink Clones Recursively. Then you can make any color changes easily. Hope that’s right!
Nice!! I noticed variations in the best starting size when setting things up for the video. Originally I needed a starting size around 100px by 100px, but the next day, I got the fluff ball! Not sure if its a bug or me. Usually after a few tries smaller or larger it works. I hope other people read this thread- may help!
I am actually stuck at the last part; after hitting 'create tiled clone' it simply doesn't look like yours, but absolutely not 3-dimensional. I have no idea what I missed.
Well it seems everybody is awesome at Inkscape but I followed all the steps over and over again and the result was terrible, I didn't create any flower. After the jitter nodes my shape didn't turn out the way your did. I don't understand why..
Your tutorials are excellent. I especially appreciate the step by step procedures at a speed that doesn't require cutting it in half and the absence of accompanying music, as some "tutors" do. 5 Star quality. Thank you very much.

Thanks! Adobe Illustrator can too. Probably others, but Inkscape is my favorite.
Absolutely love this tutorial! Thanks!!!

Love it ! I am learning from you and loving it. Thank you !!!
Thanks!! Thanks so much!
Incredible. Great use of Inkscape jitter nodes and tiled clones.
It looks great too if we round the points of the star a little before the node jitter step. And if we add more nodes we get even more jitter.
What a great idea!! Going to try it. Thanks!
wow spectacular tutorial.

Rick, Your videos are very helpful to me as a beginner. Do you have any tutorial on creating the so called “double exposure” with Inkscape?
Thank you
Thanks so much! And, great idea- I'll play around with double exposure and see if I can get the steps smooth.
So cool
Thanks!!
Love it

Great tutorial as always! Thank you 🙂✌🏼
One question: how can I "freeze" the effect to move or scale the object without any colour changing?
Hi, thank you for your tutorial it's incredible. :) I run into an issue when I try to save it into .eps when I create more than one flower and I am unable to figure out why I just repeated the process one by one and the EPS file only shows one even though I got 6.

Thanks. I haven't gone to 1.1.2 yet. I'm afraid to make tutorials with it and have something change or not make it to the final version.

That's a great idea. You mean real football, not American football, right? I'll start playing around with some ideas. Thanks!
love the video... but I think this is not working on the new inkscape version 1.2 can you please make for the newer version.
