My theory is that the portal master is the narrator, and starting from chapter 3, the multiverse is starting to break because of events that weren't supposed to happen. This was kind of foreshadowed in the trailer where everything around the portal master starts crumbling.

My prediction is that it’s gonna be Mall because they’ve skipped two chapters between each of these chapters. For example, it was (Mysterious) House, skipping Station and Gallery, then (Gloomy) Forest, skipping School and Hospital, then (Mournful) Metro. As such, it would only make sense that the next chapter skips two chapters, so no Carnival or City. The next chapter-if they keep following this pattern- would have to be Mall.
