Not sure why you thought you would get a premium product on an intra-European flight. Their website tells you what you get served in Europe before you purchase the ticket. BA used to fly the 787 and 777s intra Europe to Madrid and Athens and the premium economy product was the shorthaul offer not longhaul as it is not a longhaul flight. The seat is bigger, that is all. And interestingly I was given a BA premium economy seat at online check in even though I had only bought an economy seat. Sorry, I think you set yourself up on this one for disappointment.
Hello @sb6181 thanks for watching and thanks for commenting. Sorry to hear that you haven’t enjoyed my video. I’d like to however clarify that the objective of the video is to document flying within the region overall and provide an accurate comparison of flying within Europe vs flying anywhere else in the world. Furthermore, I can confidently refute the claim that this is the norm in the region because BA and KLM economy provided complementary refreshments which speaks volumes. If you can confidently look at the state of the hard product in the video (filthy seat) and are still of the view that by paying 65EUR I was ‘setting myself up for failure’, I strongly refute that claim. I stand by my review and would like to remind you that the comments made are subjective. Thank you for watching and for sharing your insights. I take this feedback on board to review the way in which I deliver future content and appreciate your insights. Have a great day! Warmly, Nilesh
Expectations were nowhere near premium. Just the bare minimum. But if even the bare minimum is a tall ask, perhaps flyers should collectively lower their expectation. Hope this clarifies things. Regards, Nilesh
Unless you fly Turkish Airlines on EU routes, you will get close to nothing. Its a short flight, that's how it is. And Nordics are minimalists so they are good with very little
Finnair does not offer premium economy class intra-Europe. Only economy and business class. Some flights on certain routes (HEL-AMS, HEL-LHR) are operated with widebodies which have these premium economy sections. On those flights PE seats are available to economy class passengers for an extra fee. Or if you have a high enough Oneworld status you can pick one for free. Premium economy class is offered on long-haul routes only.

I am a Finnair fan and been a customer of them for some time now, I must agree with you on there food, it has gone down hill for some time now, even in Business Class on International flights leaves a lot to be desired, now staters and the main meal all come on one tray, were as before they came separately which made the dinning experience feel more like first class travel, so come on Finnair pull your socks up please, and bring back what you had before.

You got a very average euro economy service, so there was nothing to be surprised about from that point of view. You’ve always got to keep in mind the quality of the competition, which in this region is not very high. This is not marketed as a premium class tho, you are in economy, you are paying for a better seat only, it’s made quite clear when you book. I have no idea where you got your expectations from (and I’m not one to defend Finnair most of the time). The dirty seat and the quality of the BOB is valid critique tho.
Finnish curry is actually a thing! It's called Kanaviilokki. I had it on my flight HEL-LHR and mine had a lot less water which made for a nicer looking experience. To be fair, MOST EU airlines on short EU flights these days charge a full service fare and provide nothing. A handful does provide water and snacks (BA) but every airline is mostly BOB. Although that filthy seat was just eew.
@@ryansofly ahh man, I had KLM and BA provide snacks, no one else though. Seems like European travelers have not only accepted a lower standard of flying but are content with it too. Next time I’m in Finland I definitely should try a Kanaviilokki. Sounds yum! Thanks for watching as always man!
Finnair not only suffered the usual blow of everyone during the pandemic, but the activities of Mr. Poo Tin cut their advantage of using Russian airspace on their journeys to Asia. They are a struggling niche airline, essential in connecting Northern Europe to the world. These are tough times, not everything is running to clockwork. Time for winding back some expectations and approaching them on a social orientated scale. Once they are gone, more mega airlines will take their position for granted, providing even "slacker" service, orientated on maximising guaranteed profits even further. For their own pockets, not the clients. Finland has invested a lot in aviation, such as Helsinki airport. They deserve having their national airline respected too.
Sorry to hear the tone of your voice, your Finnair flight must have been a torture. If you would fly more on Finnair, those seats are free to choose on a short haul flight, and the bottle of sparkling wine is also free as a Plat member.

Gah that A350 paint is just a shocker. I flew in premium a couple of times on the A350 long haul and I'd actually say the hard product is decent, although I'd always opt to avoid the bulkhead seat as it's narrower and with fewer storage options (learned the hard way). That said, the soft product was weak, wooden cutlery, a terrible economy second meal service and you really had to press the staff if you wanted anything else like a top up on a 14 hour flight. It's such a mixed bag, interesting that you found the same.
