SO MUCH SADNESS AND LONELINESS EXPRESSED IN SUCH A SHORT SONG!!! CARRIE IS AN ABSOLUTE GENIUS !!!!!! I LOVE THIS SONG AND CARRIE BROWNSTEIN IS THE GREATEST GUITAR PLAYER OF ALL TIME. VERY VERY PROGRESSIVE!!!!!!!

love this song! but anyone else notice we seem to have an extra set of lyrics here, or am i just really missing something?

sc0rpiomoon I think those are the original lyrics to this song. Corin rewrote it completely after Annie Clark asked her to (she said “I think you can do better”, and after looking at the original lyrics, the song is better.) My fave on the album I think

I'm going to post some lyrics for those of us who are too lazy to toggle another window. ;)
    [Verse 1]
When I look down, I was a mess
My face was smeared, my clothes were wet
My shoes untied, stone in my chest
I wash upon the shore again
    [Chorus]
Reach out, touch me, I'm stuck on the edge
Reach out, darkness is winning again
Reach out and see me, I'm losing my head
Reach out, I can't fight without you, my friend
    [Verse 2]
When my feet touched onto land
The sweet relief, the hot, dry sand
With one short breath, my chest expands
My body is my own again
    [Chorus]
Reach out, touch me, I'm stuck on the edge
Reach out, darkness is winning again
Reach out and see me, I'm losing my head
Reach out, I can't fight without you, my friend
    [Guitar Solo]
    [Chorus]
Reach out, touch me, I'm stuck on the edge
Reach out, darkness is winning again
Reach out and see me, I'm losing my head
Reach out, I can't fight without you, my friend

the first 3 songs of the album are phenomenal. after that ... i get why Janet Weiss left over the creative differences. She doesn't get smash her set much at all on this album.
