- In 2008, the United States launched "Project Cassandra". The aim was to uncover how Hezbollah uses drug trafficking and money laundering to finance its military and terrorist activities. The three-part series tells the story of the project.
By 2008, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration had gathered sufficient evidence to show that Hezbollah had transformed from a military and political organization into an international crime syndicate. They were making billions from drug and arms trafficking, money laundering and other criminal activities. "Project Cassandra" was the ambitious, top-secret project designed to stop them.
On 4 August 2020, the city of Beirut was devastated by the explosion of hundreds of tons of ammonium nitrate stored in the port. All eyes turned to Hezbollah, a Shiite party and militia linked to Iran that controls a large part of Lebanon. Despite pressure from both citizens and the international community, Hezbollah (literally: the "party of God") refused to allow any independent investigation into the causes of the explosion.
Hezbollah emerged in 1982 as a resistance organization against the Israeli occupation. Even then, it was supported by Iran. For 40 years, its fighters have infiltrated all areas of the Lebanese state and risen to become the country’s dominant force.
In the mid-2000s, however, a handful of police officers from the American Drug Enforcement Agency (D.E.A.) attempted to bring down Hezbollah. They operated in the greatest secrecy. The code name of their operation: Cassandra. Their investigation begins in the United States, in the still-smoldering ruins of the World Trade Center.
The three-part series tells the story of "Project Cassandra," based on the testimony of DEA agents and other people involved. It also tells the story of the rise of Hezbollah and provides insights into complex geopolitical contexts.

The film did not mention that Imad Mughniyeh was a fighter in the Palestinian organization Fatah until the organization left Lebanon in 1982. He remained in Lebanon because he is Lebanese and Iran supported his activities before the founding of Hezbollah, as did Mustafa Badr al-Din.

Well did you listen to what he said after? They have taken an ideology and put it above their own lives meaning they are fanatical about their belief. Literally every man in Iraq has done military service. No one needed Hezbollah to teach them how to use explosives, the Iraqis were more than capable of figuring that one out. Hezbollah had and has never had experience in using IEDs against US armored vehicles, let alone an Abraham tank, how could the "explosive" be "their design". I am not saying that Hezbollah has no involvement in Iraq, but that line is just bullshit and makes absolutely no sense. Also, do you really believe the same guy laying the IED is calling the drug dealer in Columbia? Nice propaganda piece though im enjoying it.
Personally I enjoy these DW documentarys, I watch em with an open mind, not being biased and just come up with my own conclusion on what is being reported. I'm in the US, originally from eastern Europe. 💯

This a true documentary. If you get your call stolen in Lebanon, you go get it from Brital. You pay for it again. Their buisness is drugs and they have access to the port and airport. They don't pay border taxes. They attack Israel without any of the consent of the lebanese government. Once Israel attack Lebanese infrastructure, they just pretend it never happened. We have to repair it. In either case, for the majority of Lebanese people wants them out. They killed opposing politicians as if it is nothing. Hezbollah is a terrorist group by all means.
Maybe DW should as well put a documentary about Michel Aoun and Gebran Bassil. Those piece of shits the allies of Hezbollah.

One thing I didn’t understand about this timeline was at the end where top intel discovered a link between Colombia and Hezbollah network finances and phone calls being made consistently. They obviously found out the Narcotics trafficking was financing Hezbollahs EFP capabilities. Why didn’t US Intel have Blackwater PMC stationed down in Colombia to address this problem rather than in Iraq that we know created communication problems
From the bed to the end just few minutes of explanation there is no critical facts shown involvement in it the whole doc was merely focused on the inception of the group, better do another one so we are informed.

If it’s not available I’d say it’s probably because they’ve sold the rights to a local channel there. That’s usually the case when certain videos are geo-locked but do a google search for DW documentary in France and I’m sure you’ll be able to watch it.

Nope. Regardless of whether project cassandra is saying the truth, or is politically manipulated to convey a false image, what won't change is the fact that:
1. Israel attempted to land Grab the entire South Lebanon, Hezbollah is the reason they got kicked out.
2. After Israel got kicked out, their spies were responsible for assassinations and bombing between 2000 and 2011, Hezbollah helped in hunting them down.
3. Syrian Rebels attacked first, forcing Hezbollah to enter into Syria.
Seems to me as if Zionists, and Syrian rebels and their supporters think that Project cassandra can be used as an excuse to justify their actions.

I stopped watching it exactly at 4:09 after the narrator said Hezbollah was infiltrating Lebanese politics. I mean, every honest person with basic knowledge of Lebanon's history will understand that Hezbollah did not infiltrate the Lebanese government; they are part of the Lebanese government, elected democratically by the Lebanese, like any other party in Lebanon. As usual, this documentary is just another piece of DW propaganda.
