My headcannon is that Outworld's magic played a role Sektor's teleportation. Just like Shang Tsung, Quan Chi and Shao Kahn open portals, Sektor, being the smartass he is, managed to "decodify" the way these portals work and learned to apply it to himself.
The main element being *Illusion* .
Also I see a pattern with characters who teleport, where their element contains *air*
But if he figured out how actual teleportation works, why use Illusion?

like I said on other comments. sektor isnt storing all those missiles inside his body, hes teleporting them into the field, so he probably can do the same to his entire body without having to disassemble himself like cyrax does

I like the idea of it being portal tech because it makes it feel like the Cyber suit amplifies the person’s power. Human Sektor can shoot fire and teleport, but Cyber Sektor can shoot hotter fire and teleport with more efficiency.
Well that was kind of the point of cyberization, I would imagine - to make the fighters better and amplify their abilities.
Although Sektor's flamethrower is likely just a flamethrower, not some natural ability, and the cyberized appearance is probably more than just a suit of armor. It's kinda like a Robocop deal, where you don't know how much of the actual human is left inside.
Here's how tech was made as an element.
Earth÷Sand×1.5+Fire×4+Water=Metal
Metal+Force×4+Illusion×4+Lightning×2=Tech.

Personally, I quite like the theory that Sektor uses some combination of illusion and force or illusion and air. Seeing how almost all Lin Kuei have mastery over an element, and Sektor being the Grandmaster's son (at least in the old timeline), it would make sense that he is powerful enough to master two elements. I think the small wormhole device idea does fit with the heavy tech use of the cyberized Lin Kuei. Either way I think fits with Sektor's character and the Lin Kuei's ideals. Another good video as always :D
Yeah, when you put it like that, I guess it doesn't sound that far-fetched.
Maybe the answer is in the Matrix reference? Mortal Kombat is actually a simulation for all the fighters which is how they can have fire powers/ice powers/hat powers. Maybe Sektor is an Agent in the simulation who can hack into the mainframe during fights? That's also why movie characters appear for no reason, certain story elements feel like they're written by AI and the timeline keeps rebooting.

And I thought for sure the Cyber or Space element was going to be added to the great western canon this time. But I reckon since almost every Lin Kuei member has a teleportation technique, except oddly enough the main focus of them, the cryomancers, the Cyber Lin Kuei tech just improves upon whatever element bestows upon them that ability. So far I think the only ninja that hasn't been shown to have a teleport is Tremor, and if anyone should be able to travel through the ground it should be him.

Let me put on my *uhm, akshully* glasses:
1. MK1 Reptile has a move that basically lets him teleport (Falling Fangs)
2. Khameleon as a kameo teleports every time she finishes using a female ninja move BUT in Armageddon she had a green-colored teleport inspired by Jade.

Can't speak for how it was in previous games but in Sub-Zero's tower ending in MK 1 he says that he's going to make his army with science instead of magic because using magic might draw Liu Kang's attention. That should rule any form of magic out of at least this iteration of the Cyber Lin Kuei's teleportation abilities.

I think you're right about it being tech when you put quantum mechanics into play. the simplest way to explain quantum mechanics is like this. You manipulate the empty space between atomics on a sub atomic level to do things that define the natural order reality, such thing like teleporting or creating a giant hydraulic press smoosh your enemies. Now it makes even more sense on why he'd use a flame thrower as a weapon when you remember how atoms react to heat by accelerating making more space between its parts meaning more sub atomic space to play with.
Someone else mentioned the idea of Sektor launching rockets not from his chest, but from a small portal within his chest, which ties to what you're pointing out.
The hydraulic press also makes one think of nanotech.

One way to explain teleportation is dismantling the body to the smallest particles and then shooting them at the speed of light to a different location and then reassembling it.
That could explain why human Sektor's teleport looks like an organic light and robot Sektor's looks inorganic. His body acts completely differently on a cellular level.
Yeah, Raiden technically does the same thing when he teleports.

i believe since sektor is a cyborg that uses advanced tech, it's kinda a similar mechanic you would see in phase shifting technology in other games (like the FTL phase jump on HellDivers ships when travelling across star systems), but on a more smaller and efficient level. his body de-materializes into subatomic particles (the futuristic square effects) and then re-materialize into his original body into an uppercut. co-opted with magic, perhaps that's also how he has a seemingly unlimited supply of fuel for his jet flames and rockets.

Certainly looks that way too, and it's what Raiden does, when he turns himself into lightning to teleport, so yeah, similar concept.
I think that is the best explanation for why his teleports and why his visuals look techy. At least it is more of an explanation than Nether Realms probably has.

I'm obsessed with kitana and mileenas magical abilities especially in mk1 . I think Sindel's hair is an interesting topic as I see a lot of medusa influence in there(does the hair act as a collective or have a mind of its own)?. Plus I always wonder are those purple fireballs coming from mouth fire balls or illusion? Why can she fly?
The Medusa analogy is genius, and probably true. She *is* the queen of the paradise realm, after all; she looks down on everyone else.
I like to think of her fireballs as Illusion. Her flight could simply be air, although the purple hue makes it seem like Illusion. Which is a confusing thing to explain, because it's 'Illusion', but not really illusory, as in not deceiving in any way; she literally does fly. Illusion is part Air, which can have that effect on you.
I always figured it was just some simulated advanced Electricity magic recreating tesla's concept of wireless transmission teleportation. Converting matter into energy and back to the same spot using eletric frequencies or something. IE Imagine a mechanical fake version of Raiden's elec teleport he does some times like in MK11 after he loses round 1 and picks himself back up.
Was about to mention Raiden. He's definitely the closest to a Tesla teleport.
And yeah, it could be the same principle.

@@vishaldutta4375 It's not an element per say. If a character uses a jetpack, then that works the way jetpacks usually work. You can't lob that in with laser fists and glowing nets. Each piece of tech is unique, just like in real life, so it can't all be one element.

Pulse blades are weird, because they look like lightsabers, but they clink like metal. That might be just bad foley, though. They're probably plasma, like Takeda's Ronin blades, so that's basically Fire.

Now that i said that i realize it would be rly cool if more characters had some sort of "Outworld Doohickey" in their kit,like if Cage had a pair of sunglasses that are enchanted to always return to him so he just throws em around and they teleport back on his face.
For that matter why not have an Outworld character use a "Earth Realm Doohickey" fuck it,give Baraka a gun.

@@donstarplayz Oh, missed that one. Could be low-level Force, since the Cages are Force users; like a forcefield that's not strong enough to be visible. But from what I can tell, it behaves like armor - you strike the Kameo a few times, and she absorbs a few shots before going away, so I guess armor doesn't need much of an explanation. But the impassable wall thing does, so there you go.
