    Eva Schloss is a survivor of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, and stepdaughter of Otto Frank, father of diarist Anne Frank. Her family was captured by the Nazis in May 1944, and transported to Auschwitz; only she and her mother survived. She has since dedicated her life to ensuring that the Holocaust is remembered and never repeated. In pursuit of this, she co-founded the Anne Frank Trust, which seeks to rid society of discrimination and prejudice. Her experiences also inspired James Still’s play “And Then They Came For Me - Remembering the World of Anne Frank”. More recently, she participated in the USC Shoah Foundation’s Visual History Archive project, creating interactive holograms to preserve the memories of Holocaust survivors for future generations.
    ABOUT THE OXFORD UNION SOCIETY: The Oxford Union is the world's most prestigious debating society, with an unparalleled reputation for bringing international guests and speakers to Oxford. I was scheduled to hear Ms. Schloss speak at the beginning of the pandemic and the speech was canceled. I will count this as a great loss. I would love to hear her in person. As she’s advanced in age, not sure I will get the opportunity, but very thankful to hear this talk. Thank you to Oxford and Ms. Schloss.

      These people are not lucky, they are just genetically superior.
      Most people died.
      My neighbors were the Holocaust survivors.
      They went though the war & spend years in holocaust.
      Not sure if they are still alive, but in their 80-90th they were still smoking cigarettes without filter.
      All their lives & have never went to see a doctor.

      Some people are just survivors.
      I would probably die just smoking the cigarettes.
      But some people will survive regardless of the situation.
      Some die from COVID.
      But those people had no vaccines & were starving & had no antibiotics or painkillers & antidepressants ....
      They still survived.

      Implying there is a relationship between a 2 week quarantine facility that aims to optimise your health through access to nutritious foods, water, living supplies and quick access to medical attention if required, and the Holocaust concentration/death camps, is insulting and discredits the attrocities committed within the WW2 camps.

    • @brandoncraddock2765
      @brandoncraddock2765 2 года назад +8

      @@aron8401 tell that to the people living in Sydney. Just because it isn’t exactly the same situation right now doesn’t mean that there aren’t similarities. You have no idea how any of this will play out and neither do I, however I think there are enough similarities to start asking questions. Complacency, accepting the loss of rights, social division thru propaganda and the building of infrastructure to forcibly take people are common themes. I don’t want what happened to her to be in any way replicated on anyone. Questions are important. Especially right now.

    • @aron8401
      @aron8401 2 года назад +4

      @@brandoncraddock2765 As someone who lives in Sydney (hahaha), I can say with all confidence that giving people who choose to vaccinate more social opportunities, is vastly different to the Holocaust and will not lead to killing people because they have COVID or are unvaccinated. Ie, I do not think there are any comparisons that can be made to relate the two on a non-academic level! As much as I am not a fan of the current State leadership, comparing Gladys to Hitler (as one 'similarity'), as I am sure you are aware, is a little farfetched. Australia also does not have a Bill of Rights to lose, and I don't think it is a 'loss of rights' to be forced into a humane quarantine facility/ forced to stay home if you are infected with the virus. Also, obviously there is social division, I don't necessarily want people who haven't been vaccinated and may pass the virus around my family or within my community, especially if they are not being cautious. Also, the new quarantine facilities are to protect the people in an apartment block from being exposed to a virus because the building does not have safe ventilation. If one person living in a single studio apartment has the virus, why should they be allowed to stay in an apartment of 300+ people including vulnerable people when they could potentially infect all of them? Would it not be more ethical to transport them to a 2 week quarantine facility where they could also be monitored for further progression of symptoms? Questions are important, but common sense is too.

    • @brandoncraddock2765
      @brandoncraddock2765 2 года назад +5

      @@aron8401 please look into the Nuremberg laws. These things happen gradually, Also if you and your family are vaccinated why would you be afraid of the unvaxed being aloud in society? That doesn’t make sense. Either the vax works and we’re fine or it doesn’t and we shouldn’t be forcing people to take it and trying to find alternative methods. How do you suggest the people who cannot for whatever reason take the vaccine live? What is logical conclusion of this line of thinking? “I don’t want THEM around US and my family” let’s create a ghetto for them to live in. “ this is mass psychosis. I pray for your country brother.
