Had this lens over a decade ago, it was my gem. Thought spending 80 bucks on it was a lot... Today, Im back in photography and videography and out of curiousity thought Id go cheap and shoot old fd....and holy.. times have changed. At least the price of this lens has some justifications, not like buying a AE-1 today for over 200 bucks.... I used to throw them away daily as a camera tech. That is absurd.
There are 35mm f2 lenses with a serial number below 100k that aren’t concave. Look for under 100k serial number AND f16 as smallest aperture. Most of the 35mm f2 lenses are not concave, and I find the concave very rare and costing well-beyond $200. At least in Europe!
I have such a lens with a serial below 100.000 but the front element is definetely convex. Otherwise it is identical to the lens in the video. Any ideas?
There seems to be some below 100K convex out there… others reported it as well, but it seems to be rare. Concave only close to f16 while convex closes further.
@@MediaDivision indeed. I’ve got both and have never noticed a difference though. Have read the difference between Specta Coated and Super Spectra Coated was mostly marketing as in the early 70’s it was a cheap way to charge more. Multi coatings apparently were at the height of lens improvements then. Either way nothing a good lens hood or matte box can’t solve! Keep up the great content.
Surely a subtile difference at best… just like the 55mm f1.2 Aspherical vs the regular 55m f1.2. Absolutely… the time was when coatings where talk of the town and all brands are guilty of pushing the issue … Zeiss with *T to start with. We have a litte section about it the main video this is taken from
Yep should have been spaced by a day apart from each other. But it also just finished a very big project so he's probably got a real yearning to release stuff
If the number of views you get on upload aren't important you could just upload the videos as unlisted and add them to a Playlist. When they are made public later, they will not show up on top of the subscriptions so no one will need to unsubscribe
Isn’t it a silly idea to start an ARCHIVE with just one lens? We have to create a basis on which we will build, and that people are coming back to. Making those videos public at the same time is just the only way to do it. Like with a library… you don’t have to read all book when you first walk in, it is good to know they are there. If you feel annoyed by our content, you might want to unsubscribe and come back later, as we plan to complete the archive over the next two weeks. We hope that it bring convenience to our members and new visitors through discovery. A lot of our content gets lost in the larger episodes, and we intend to change that.
I love this channel but releasing 14 Lens review at once IS terrible idea. You should of at least scheduled them to release a day or two apart. This is weeks of content releases wasted.

You know... this is like digestible snacks of cinema knowledge/wisdom/Easter-eggs and lots of fun.
Keep making videos and stay awesome, keep at it!
Thanks man... these are just part of our archive.... something for discovery.
I need very spare time to watch all this unique collection. Thank you for your great videos👍👍👌
Our pleasure... these are part of the FD episode... just watch that to get them all... and while you at it.... all the others ;-)

The 35mm concave is the "affordable" lens in the high end FD realm.

Did he say the focus breathing was "tolerable" or "Terrible"
tolerable!
Great style of presentation - quite refreshing, and the lens is on my shopping list, radiation or no.
Thanks… yeah, don’t worry about that
You can still get the optically identical chrome nose version at good prices
with different coating... sure

The music is perfect!
Hey Mark... thank you so much for your support. I guess you mean our "theme" song. I love it too.... but I heard it too often
As I Heard Them Play Their Symphonies - The Soundkeeper
You have loaded up all at once man😂👌👍
Just the basis for our archive...
my local shop has one and they are asking $799
Well, it is a quite usual asking price these days
It was available in Pakistan for $90. The SSC one. NOP Didn't buy it.
Dude, I love your videos but you did massive spam in my subscription feed by uploading 10+ videos at once. Please be considerate about that.
Really i like this format, in that way i can see the lens that interest me. jeje
