OK first of all, very awesome project. In order for your cart to be built to code you should a) use 3/4'' plywood instead of 1/2'' plywood, b) paint the plywood before sanding and cutting, c) use Benjamin Moore decorator's white (in flat finish) and Krylon Industrial Banner Safety Red and most importantly, and I can't stress this enough: DON'T use a CNC router. Shun the router! That being said it's probably time to admit I'm super jealous of your amazing cart! :)
love the build, including the cnc, and the video editing is superb. clever seeing the cart travel the neighborhood. I was half expecting the little girls to be pushing you on the cart in the opposite direction lol. keep them coming!
Watching my first video on this channel and simply love your work and how precise you are thank you for the entertainment and the fast speeds and sound effects ...I will like and subscribe
Very well done. This is looking great and I absolutely love the editing on the video. I would love to have such a nice cart in my shop ... plus the room for it. Thanks for sharing!
This came out pretty cool, sir! Love the little screw spacing jigs you made - the even screw lends itself to the nasa look for sure. Love how you mixed in the CNC stuff as well - that name plate is cool.
Great video! I love picturing what it looks like from a different perspective when people make videos. I imagined you had the cart rolling down the driveway into the street and then shortly afterwards you chasing it and cars swerving and the neighbors looking on like "what is he doing?". 😂
I got a few looks from the neighbours. They now I'm up to stuff in the shop, but they don't typically know exactly what. I'm sure this confused a few of them!
Again, another incredible project! I do wonder tho... What do your neighbours think about some of the hilarious things that happen at your place? Well done son! Keep them on their toes 💙
+Dustin Penner ya I know I love your video!!!! It's just nice to see all your tools like saw stop and your clamps and a big workshop. To where I have Crappy clamps and table saw with a small shop. I never have money to do projects it's just nice to see you do project and I wish I can do the same. Lol.
+MrCraftboy29 it wasn't intentional haha. Everyone kept mention the flight of the navigator so I just watched it for the first time last night. I get it now!
+Dustin Penner I also love this channel because I do wood work at school so if my grades are good I might try and build some cool like that in some years
Idk why but I enjoy the sped up style videos much more then the regular speed vids. I enjoy sounds of everything sped up. I could close my eyes n pick out your videos. Just like Diresta has his own sound you do as well.
biscuits are so much better than pocket holes. Clamp it in to place is so much better than screwing it in place. using AC sheet is my preference for shop furniture
Biscuits have the major problem of splitting the wood/plywood due to their wide and shallow depth profile. Pocket holes at the very least keep a deep, narrow profile which is harder to defeat. Either way, joints still are King, there's a reason why WW2 military German ammo and utility boxes had joints and some last to this day despite severe abuse.
You would not believe how many utility carts we use around KSC. So, doing a utility cart with the NASA logo is very appropriate. You'd be hard pressed to find the "worm" logo these days though. Most in NASA never liked the "worm" logo, and after Goldin reinstated the "meatball" logo, most were replaced. Personally, I prefer the meatball. Great project!
They really do look just like that. Usually cast phenolic or some similarly strong composite plastic though. Our techs use them to bring materials and tools up and down the pad structure for launch operations. Love the channel and love the projects. Keep it up.
+Anton Kiriwas this is blowing my mind right now. You let me know if NASA ever needs my utility cart and I'll be sure to get it there! Happy to do my part for space exploration haha! Thank you so much! Send me your address through my website and I'll send you some stickers!
Thanks! That little beauty is called a countersink and I got it from ToolsToday.com It counter sinks and predrills the hole in one step. It's also completely adjustable and the bit is replaceable if you somehow damage it.
DUDE!..... subscribed! all action no words DIY video, loved it! i'd love to see your setup tho! can you show your tools and equipment?! im dying to turn my garage into a workshop for my crazy ideas
Great project. Many ideas. Any reason why you wouldn't/couldn't also biscuit joint the shelves into the assembly and remove the unsightly (to some) screw holes. Not a criticism, just a question.
The screws were part of the design. Biscuits wouldn't be very strong in that application since one of the surfaces was painted but again, I wanted to see those beautiful black screw heads poking out. Thanks!
I hate to be a negative... but why would you go thru the trouble of biscuit joining the frame faces, paint them with expensive great looking paint, only to turn around and screw it together and leave all the screw heads showing?
Dustin Penner Cool! I like to bury my name or initials in things... on the LED cube I built, there's a laser cut plywood ventilation cover in the case with my initials rastered into it, spelled out in binary. :D
The plans are available on my website, details in the description. I'm in Canada so I will have a great July 1st! Se we don't have awesome fireworks blow something up for me! Thanks.

SPEED HOLES
Very cool! The use of your CNC really made this cart awesome!
love the build, including the cnc, and the video editing is superb. clever seeing the cart travel the neighborhood. I was half expecting the little girls to be pushing you on the cart in the opposite direction lol. keep them coming!
The lack the strength required to move me. I tried... Thanks for watching!
I really like the contrast of the black screws in the white wood. I wouldn't have guessed that would look so cool.
It came out better than I expected (like most of my projects) Thanks!!
I seriously envy people who have the talent and patience to build things !!!
Thanks!
GREAT video! At the end, I was VERY surprised your shop was in your garage. It looked like an official “separate building” type of shop! Well done!
Great build and video Dustin, a very handy all round cart to have and you don't even need your hands!! Cheers, Barry (from England)

Ezequiel Arismendez thanks very much!
Very well done. This is looking great and I absolutely love the editing on the video. I would love to have such a nice cart in my shop ... plus the room for it. Thanks for sharing!
One of the most enjoyable videos to watch on youtube ....watched it 4 times so far....lol
Really nice work, Dustin.
Awesome project. I love the replica NASA badge. The worm logo is a thing of beauty.
This came out pretty cool, sir! Love the little screw spacing jigs you made - the even screw lends itself to the nasa look for sure. Love how you mixed in the CNC stuff as well - that name plate is cool.
Best DIY video I've ever, ever seen
Thank you!
Great video!

I like the turning of the wheels and animation, nice
Cool! I like the name plate. And I've never thought to polish up a galvanized pipe like that. I'll be trying that one.
Thanks! That was an aluminum pipe.
I thought the jig to place the screws was very clever. Love the NASA stencil and brass plate. Cute kids. Good job all the way round
Genial, es un placer ver tus trabajos,Saludos desde Barcelona .Catalonia./
Great work Dustin,I really like Tom Sachs Nasa work! I love the brass plate and the video ending is brilliant!
Again, another incredible project! I do wonder tho... What do your neighbours think about some of the hilarious things that happen at your place? Well done son! Keep them on their toes 💙
Loved the video especially the screws appearing out of no where
Very well done and the girls had fun with Dad:)
Great Job and great video! Very nicely done
Thank you!!
That was really good Dustin. Very inspiring.
Coolest cart I’ve seen built. Nice
This was freaking unreal!! You rock dude! :D
Thanks!
Great project Dustin! Excellent video and editing to! You make really great stuff, thanks!
thanks! I appreciate that!
Very cool vid. Nice to see you didn't exceed the weight limit on the trip back home ;-)
Maybe in a couple years! thanks!!
Amazing! I love the Tom Sachs aesthetic.
Nice video. It must be nice to have all the good tools and plenty of supplies, clamps paints wood ect.
Anyone can buy those things. It takes more than that...
+Dustin Penner ya I know I love your video!!!! It's just nice to see all your tools like saw stop and your clamps and a big workshop. To where I have Crappy clamps and table saw with a small shop. really cool. I like the brass plate!
very nice and entertaining video ! always looking foward to the next one
looks really good Dustin!
thanks Jonathan!
The carved plate is awesome! :)
I love it to! Thanks!
Why am i getting a "Flight of the Navigator" feel from this?
Nice build.
you're the second person to mention that so you're not alone. I've never seen it, but now I must! thanks!
As always....great stuff Dustin
With the NASA logo and running off on its own at the end, I was reminded of Ralph from Flight of the Navigator. :-)
I've never seen it, I'll fix that!
you made a great video and projects, super quality work!!
Thank you!
Nothing but straight awesome. Dig it. Keep making!
This was one of my favourite builds so i'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks very much!
I’m highly impressed
Haaa! Great project--Love the end !
Thanks David! have you been going through Jimmy withdrawals yet?
+Dustin Penner really love The Navigator reference right at the end with the garage door
+MrCraftboy29 it wasn't intentional haha. Everyone kept mention the flight of the navigator so I just watched it for the first time last night. I get it now!
+Dustin Penner I also love this channel because I do wood work at school so if my grades are good I might try and build some cool like that in some years
Turned out pretty great! 🤓
great project fun to watch
thanks!
As a NASA employee, 2 thumbs up. Brass ID Badge nailed it.
I'm honored! You are the second NASA employee to give your approval! The last guy sent me a NASA coffee mug too!
that is rad! nice job.
Thanks!
a sturdy cart capable of carrying precious cargo.
> ;-) Nice work and very good idea !
Thanks!
Jolie réalisation bravo salut Jeannot 🛠😉
Great video Dustin
Excellent and practical
it turned out nice I laughed when ya put NASA on it.
Thanks!
Idk why but I enjoy the sped up style videos much more then the regular speed vids. I enjoy sounds of everything sped up. I could close my eyes n pick out your videos. Just like Diresta has his own sound you do as well.

+Dustin Penner You're welcome Dustin I appreciate your vids n builds as well
biscuits are so much better than pocket holes. Clamp it in to place is so much better than screwing it in place. using AC sheet is my preference for shop furniture
Johno Vegas nope. Wouldn't work for this project. Read the description.
Plywood is the queen.
Great build. Thanks for sharing
Really great quality and detail, such high speed though, guess nowadays with so many impatient people thats what you gotta do
Thanks very much!
5:42 good job at the pit stop.. pretty fast! 👍
haha! The last one was my favorite!

No way! An insider! Do your carts look anything like my cart? haha! I've always preferred the worm and GE has the only true meatball logo.
They really do look just like that. Usually cast phenolic or some similarly strong composite plastic though. Our techs use them to bring materials and tools up and down the pad structure for launch operations.
Love the channel and love the projects. Keep it up.

Wow! That's awesome I really love this!
if i have cnc all the time i use this nice machine nice touch NASA
Great video. What is the little device on the drill bit that cuts the countersink holes?
Thanks! That little beauty is called a countersink and I got it from ToolsToday.com It counter sinks and predrills the hole in one step. It's also completely adjustable and the bit is replaceable if you somehow damage it.
i need one of these. super cool!
Pretty nice build. Thanks for sharing. Is that a picture of Rutger Hauer?
Bill Murray! Thanks
DUDE!..... subscribed! all action no words DIY video, loved it! i'd love to see your setup tho! can you show your tools and equipment?! im dying to turn my garage into a workshop for my crazy ideas
Thank you and welcome!! I will do a shop tour as soon as I consider my shop to be properly organized haha! This cart helped with that a lot!
me encantó! buen trabajo
One negative comment I forgot in my last post. Your shop is too clean. You are workshop shaming all the slobs like me. LOL
Don Campbell Just goes to show you.... Always be Knolling
What I would like to know is what tool was used to countersink and drill the holes you made around the 4 minute mark?
Great project. Many ideas.
Any reason why you wouldn't/couldn't also biscuit joint the shelves into the assembly and remove the unsightly (to some) screw holes. Not a criticism, just a question.
The screws were part of the design. Biscuits wouldn't be very strong in that application since one of the surfaces was painted but again, I wanted to see those beautiful black screw heads poking out. Thanks!
amazing. love it.
Thanks!
great video!!!! you're a freaking beast
Holy Crap! That cart can roll up hill! Well, I guess cause NASA right?
I thought that biscuit joints are very weak. How is this cart holding up?
Peter Zhong they’re not. It’s as sturdy as the day I built it.
That's what sanding sounds to a woodworker
Great video! Cool project. What type of plywood did you use? Thanks
Mostly 1/2" baltic birch plywood. More details in the description!
Super! Very good
great video!
Thanks Justin!
Excellent!
Thanks brother!
What is the little disk part on your counter sink bit? Is it it a stop to keep you from drilling too far?
Yes!. I think there is a link in the video description. It comes from toolstoday.com Great bit to have in the shop!
Make sure you paint then cut the plywood as per Love Letter to Plywood. Good work.
I don't have interns to clean my blades! Thanks!
then clearly this needs to be written down on the things we need list and have it be the receptionists problem now
Yeeeeah I love it!!!
Thanks Giaco! If you love it, I know it's not bad haha!!
Where did you get that depth stop for your drill?
Thats from Toolstoday.com! It's a great tools, fully adjustable!
Where can I buy one of those sanders that makes that jungle noise?
Special order, very hard to come by.
what bit did you use to carve the aluminum plate?
Great video!
Thanks!
Is that clear acrylic adhesive being used for the brass(?) plaque?
3M VHB tape
amazing your intelligence !!!!!! great video !!!!!!!!
Thank you!
Hey Dustin any idea on what the load capacity might be approximately
Not sure but i'm over 200 pounds and I know it would take my weight.
Fantastic!! - Liked, Commented, and Subscribed sir!!
Cool! What size EXCarve do you use?
It's 1000mm X ~750mm. Thanks!
Biscuits, there's a time and place for everything.
Very clean, that thing rips!
haha! thanks Greg!
The Right Stuff
Wow! A+++ Nice cart. What are you using for CNC?
Thanks! It's an x carve
I hate to be a negative... but why would you go thru the trouble of biscuit joining the frame faces, paint them with expensive great looking paint, only to turn around and screw it together and leave all the screw heads showing?
I answered that question in the first line of the description.
Does the serial number on the brass plate mean anything? I always like to bury "easter eggs" in things like that on my projects. :)
Dosbomber my birthday/month is in there.
Dustin Penner
Cool!
I like to bury my name or initials in things... on the LED cube I built, there's a laser cut plywood ventilation cover in the case with my initials rastered into it, spelled out in binary. :D
Nasa would be proud!
Nicely Done. I wish you would have the plans for sale. I would buy them in a minute. Thank you. Have a safe 4th.
The plans are available on my website, details in the description. I'm in Canada so I will have a great July 1st! Se we don't have awesome fireworks blow something up for me! Thanks.
Love it.
Nice project! Liked :) By the way, why NASA?
This guy ispires me www.tomsachs.org why NASA? why not! haha
Dustin Penner
Yea, why not get inspired! And quite right about NASA!
flight of the navigator?
Is it just me that his orbital sander sounds very natural and organic? Lol
Should have painted before you made the cuts. You've done a fantastic job though! Keep it up!
