It's incredible how well this chord progression manages to cycle through all 12 keys without you even noticing. And Harrell and Schneider solo over every key like it's an easy F minor blues. Incredible.

Each half chorus ends on the V of the next key, so while it might seem like it’s a perfect fifth modulation, it’s really a major 2nd which is a relatively slow way to move up the circle. Not to mention the swing feeling from the 4/4 - 3/4 every half cadence and it feels like you’re not moving at all. Only Bill Evans could write a tune this masterful both mathematically and emotionally.
