If you do pubs here's a tip, the bitters and ales are usually (but not always) fairly regionalised. Fullers is London area, Greene King is the South, Boddingtons is North West, Tetleys/John Smiths/Tom Taylors in Yorkshire, Bass for the midlands, Brains is Wales. If you see McEwans at all, it's Scotland.
Rainworth MW actually competed in a final at Wembley back in the 1980s. I've refereed at Moreton Rangers, which is also a former home of Newport County at a time when the FA of Wales wouldn't license them to play in Wales as part of the English system.
University teams in the UK and Ireland normally play in the University leagues (BUCS). However there are a few Universities that do put a football team into the national leagues. Because the Irish and Welsh leagues are quite weak Dublin Uni and Cardiff Met can get into the top league (although Dublin are in the 2nd league at the moment), while Loughbrough play well down the English pyramid. None of them get a big audience, it's not really a big thing for students to attend the games like in the US. This is very slowly starting to change in Rugby with the influence of US culture, I think the highest attendance for a Uni vs Uni fixture is the Leeds Varsity game, which one year topped 18k. In Rugby terms this made it the second most attended fixture in the country that weekend and was about the same as Leeds Rhinos rugby league team get in the same stadium.
That's interesting with regards to rugby and attendance. I've heard of BUCS though - I had a friend who played lacrosse for some university in England and think he participated in it and then wound up coaching a club team there years ago
Couple of suggestions for finnish games: "Finland Burger Kings" for the burger series "Hotels of Finland (Suomen Hotellit)" - updated map "Lapland, Finland (Handpicked)" - ton of new street view coverage at lapland released
Second fastest 25k just behind Michael! It did help that I knew Cardiff Met's ground was near but not on the campus (I live in Cardiff!) but it didn't help that it took too long to find Rainworth despite knowing it was Notts.
Cardiff Met Uni play in the Welsh Premier League. Very few other Uni teams play in the league structure. Bath Uni do. So, I believe do Herriott Watt. But most play in the Universities athletic programme (which was called the UAU (universities Athletic Union) in my day. I think the name has changed now. Not as highly commercial as the NCAA.
So you asked about if there are any connections to the clubs and you mentioned Sutton United when Sutton Athletic came up. For a while at the tail end of the pandemic I was working a kitchen at a sports club that would have Sutton United's youth academy train 3 days a week. It was my job as the chef to prepare healthy carb and protein packed lunches for the squad of 25 after each training session.
I seem to have a knack of heading off in exactly the wrong direction to find any useful info on these rounds. Dropped the ball on the Welsh round, after making a badly wrong assumption and dropped points for being a mile off.
3 - University teams play in their own self contained league, which has nowhere near the importance of the NCAA in comparison to the pro game. Some of the better/more ambitious uni teams will play in the main league system as well, more common in Wales/Scotland though 4) You will see a lot of lower level clubs with small stands like that. It's an FA requirement to have 50 undercover seats to enter step 10, so most clubs with ambitions to get there will build the bare minimum for cost reasons
I had a tantrum when I was too casual on round 2 and just assumed I was in the right spot on the main road having seen a particular village to the south and not considering I could have been further along. Still second place (for now hahaha). Incidentally there is a place by the same name less than 10 miles from where I live over 150 miles away and the main roan number differs by just 3
Thanks for watching!

Evesham is Eve-sham, although don't break it up hard, run the Eve gently into the sham.

That's cool. How much do parents pay for that youth academy?
The Mirco pub at Rainworth is very good
What's your favorite pint?
I am watching and playing along on my birthday (27th)
Happy belated Birthday!

Rainworth is acrually pronounced Renneth if you speak to a local. Wouldn't expect you to know it. You probably wouldn't understand them anyway 🤣
It's actually Princes Risborough, not Risborough.
Just back from watching celtic HH
WHY must you put 'American' in every. single. title.?? Does it matter???
