    In ancient societies this briefly touched on warriors would hope that embracing the animal spirit like a bear or a wolf they would survive a battle , shamans can transform spiritually into an animal as a teacher . But someone being a monster is the darker part of a human mindset

    In my home state, we have a local legend that became a popular song called "Legend of the Dogman" that gets some play time on local radio during the months leading up to Halloween.

    Young Men were cast out of their tribes when they came of age. To go off on their own and make their own tribes. Part of the ritual was for them to hunt down a predator, takes its pelt, wear its pelt, and become the strengths of that animal. They would form bands and attack villages to take what they were gonna need. They would be wearing these pelts, more often than not, wolf pelts.

    According to Greek Mythology,the first werewolf was King Lycon. When he tried to trick Zeus into eating human meat (The king's own son),in outrage Zeus hurdled the plate aside and transformed Lycon into a wolf as the King tried to flee Zeus's wrath.

      @@MystOfMythology question: In your research, do you come across any werecreature lore that wasn't a carnivore? I've read a few stories where the author was clearly inspired by other legends...specifically Norse. The original Swan Princess story was pretty gruesome

      Ohh, good... and tough... question. I've not looked at it from that angle. I was going to say maybe the Selkies I made a video on, but in my view, they're not 'were' creatures, more beings who have magical seal pelts. I think Were-Deer from Native American lore was a herbivore in their were-form, but haven't studied it in detail.

      Weather this comment is true or not. I was raised Roman Catholic being Italian an hated it. I was born again, but was still alot of trouble. But I've always said these stories of dogman, were wolf, whichever term or differences there are being raised a hunter but we were only allowed to kill what we ate. These ppl that say I barely got away it had red eyes and were pure evil, I don't belv 1 bit. For 1 I've been in deep woods, we have the Beast of bray road here and as much as it's been seen, I've never heard it savagely kill any1. 2, in th woods when they go silent evry animal real hunter knows th feeling of a serious predator around, if any person was meant to be eaten , NO 1 would live to talk about it, I was raised don't raise yr gun at anything U don't absolutely know what it us, don't shoot foolishly or at signs, leave garbage. If your senses tell you to leave, leave but dont behave stupidly, or fearful u'll have no chance to react if it was a bear or cat, actually did attack. Now I don't dought what uve said. I've always felt these dogmen or wws, are actually holy. The fact they can kill vampires says loads not that I belv in them 100%. So these stories oh I got away, I killed one, shot one, if u got away, it let you get away, fact. I don't comment much but your reply sounds too much like something I've belvd fr a long time but not many would belv u, but strangely I can't help but agree. If you R real, your by far the closest things to angels, and if you serve the Lord, then myb that's why I like Lucianthe most he was good hearted ♥️ to his corre I would have paid $$$ to watch him rip Victors head clean off in either form😅, either way God bless....

  • @The_One_Cosmos
    @The_One_Cosmos 15 часов назад

    The actual history pre dates all texts and known religions. Long before books, in the days of early human tribal societies, there were powerful shaman and medicine people in the tribes who could shapeshift into certain animals and things, which is also pre dated by nature spirits and animals shapeshifting into human like forms and such.
    In essence, this is a natural part of coexistence and harmony of and with nature, and the reality of the physical and spiritual realms and what may call metaphysics.
    There are still shapeshifters.

    • @MystOfMythology
      @MystOfMythology  7 часов назад +1

      Good question and the answer is their birth. The Dogman is said to be born as a half human half wolf, whereas the Werewolf is born human, but is changed by an event.
