EXACTLY! The very best recipes are only amazing if you have the most necessary ingredients. The recipe that was Grand Funk is now just BLAND JUNK! Mel And Don are a nuthin without the man behind it all. I so happy to see Farner sounding just truly fu**ing amazing! He deserves all the the love and attention for giving us the catalog of music he has written. He doesn't need those guys or the G.F title even though it should be his. We all know what the real deal is!!
Mark Farner is/was Grand Funk Railroad. It’s his voice, guitar playing, instrument playing and songs he wrote that got them on top. Shame on Don “Screwer” for his deceitfulness when he was voted out of the band. God Bless Mark Farner!
Mark Farner, is beyond amazing!!!!! WOW!!!! At age 73 1/2, he still sounds EXACTLY as great as he did in 1970!!! He truly is SUPERMAN!!! And what an awesome song - takes me back in time to my childhood! The musicians in the band are stellar!!
Saw Grand Funk in 1971 Cleveland Public Auditorium, he was a wild man, played for about 2 1/2 hours , have every original album on vinyl…Should be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame!
When you're a good person and have compassion and empathy.... with love in your heart and no hate... when you don't let your ego control you.... You look like Mark Farner at 74. Well done Sir... may the Lord bless you and those you love Mark Farner. Cheers YA'LL
Seen Mark play 13 times in the last 20 yrs. Always a great show, the highlight of our lives those summers. My wife and I and my cousin and his wife usually go together. I've had the honor of meeting him several times, had my picture taken with him twice (three times for my wife), and once caught a harmonica he threw to the crowd, which he also signed for me! He is just a real class act, down to earth and has a kind heart. A national treasure!
Im in the Uk and can see how much he is adored in the states! He really is an icon.Let me tell you i love him as much as you all do!!!! Im only sad that he doesnt play over here so i probably wont get to see him unless i can get stateside.....i live in hope!!! Hes a beautiful soul!!!
Mark is "Grand Funk". He is the heart and soul of it. He still has it after all these years. This video gave me chills. Been a fan since "On Time" was released. "Are You Ready" was one of the first songs I learned on guitar.
I’ll never forget you Mark…you are a Legend….bad ass Rock N Roll that I enjoyed as a teenager/20’s….Real music! ….Hit’s one to his core and soul..Thank you! You are the real deal.
Such a beautiful composition and tune that brings back so many memories. Thank you sir for your talents and unshakeable determination to bring this music to later generations.
Mark had such a distinct voice and sound in GF. Here he is at 73, all in tact, passion and all. After singing professionally virtually non-stop for 50+ years, he still has the same range and tone after all that time and use. I do miss his original GF guitar tone, not the more homogenous modern one in this video. He had that slicing, percussive, just on the edge of out of control tone, that he worked perfectly (and that worked perfectly for him). It was one of a kind, like a fingerprint, so distinct like his voice.
A Living Legend. Mark Farner was and is still off the chart. I've seen him perform live and mot too long ago ... well 5 or 6 years is not really that long. He was amazing and great to talk to. If you get a chance, go and see him. You won't regret it. Cheers Mark. All the Best. I hope you get back to you ship. Met is wife too. She's Some Kinda Wonderful.
I so glad I grew up with the music that has lasted like no other. 8 track tapes and LP albums. Grand Funk Railroad was the greatest band in the world at one time. It still is one of the greatest today. Wish I could go back 50 years, running around in a 68 mustang with the only girl I really loved listening to music like this.
Wow!!!!! Man I can't wait only 10 more days. I've seen Mark farner and Grand Funk R/R meny times live and its always good . Mark how about a shout out for Bear and Mandy my 21 year old daughter. I will be at the show in Niagara 3-12-22
I just saw a vid of the "Grand Funk" band as it is today playing this song. I was disgusted to hear that they are playing Mark Farner's songs. KNOW Mark Farner, KNOW GFR! NO Mark Farner, NO GFR! Last month I drove three hours (one way) to see this incredible man in concert. Mark Farner is worth it in every way! His band truly ROCKS! ROCK ON Mark Farner! Keep it going, man!
God knows I still love all those hard core British rock bands from the 60s &70s but Mark Farner holds a special place just a bit above them. American Rock n Roll from the magic years of youth.
As ageless and timeless as a masterpiece can possibly be, I always react in the same way each and every time I hear this incredible piece of music...I find myself in total awe. Mark Farner, you are Grand Funk Railroad and you alone will ALWAYS be Grand Funk Railroad, regardless of what the others may do. Without you, they are nothing...no matter who they get to sing the songs. You cannot be replaced because you are the heart and soul of GFR and I am so appreciative of what you have done over the entire scope of your career. Your music has meant a lot to me. And it continues to do so.
January 1971 coming home from Germany with all my Airmen going to McGuire Air Force to be discharged we all sang that song as we were landing and every time i hear this song brings tears to my eyes as it reminds me how happy we all were coming home to civilian life and seeing our families. Thank you Mark Farner you are best!!!!!
Seriously? 🤣🤣🤣 You think he's doing this on his own? I think the "lighting guy" knows what he's doing, he's doing what he was instructed to, this is the finale, all the focus is to be on Farner...
Using a TRW Skip trace machine as a bill collector in CT I chased down Terry Knight in MI and we cornered the bad boy who had financially broken the team of genius musicians in 1983 or 1984 where he was hiding out somewhere. I called his neighbors and pegged him down with his debts to Farner and the Group. He was the major racketeer who burned them, Mr. Phillips. Mark is the greatest American Rock performer even passing Hendrix.
Mark's compositions, lyrics and voice so perfectly defines the era and the movement that represented America's youth and their hopes and dreams so long ago. Through Mark's music I've managed to ignore the increasingly ominous signs of the times that signal the coming end of this era. I fear the day we can no longer hear Mark play Closer to Home will be the official end of an era that began in 1969. On that day I will cut off my thinning gray ponytail, pack up my blue jeans, tie-dyed T-shirts and head bands and thank Mark for over 50 years of peace, love and especially the hope that his music inspired. Music that so perfectly defined a most epic period in American history. What a long strange trip it's been and what a gift to have lived and shared this period with Mark and his music. I am truly blessed. God Bless you Mark, you've brought us all closer to home🙂
Mark is the real Grand Funk!
No Farner, no Funk.
Yes sir.
Don Screwer and Mel Snatcher robbed Mark but the honest rocker Mark prevailed! God bless you Mark!

Mel and Don 🤔....Probably should just call it it GLAND SPUNK! Without Mark.....that's all it is!!
So sad that happened
when you have 3 people sing his parts yeah I say Mark won

Without Mark Farner, that cover band has NO ROCK N ROLL SOUL!!!
Mark is rock royalty!!!!!!!
The members of the cover band touring as Grand Funk need to return Mark Farner's ship to the Captain!
I think you're referring to Grand Fake Railroad 😡
WRONG, HE'S BETTER OF WITHOUT THEM...NO MARK, NO FUNK!
best comment...fvckin aye right!!!
FARNER FUNK RAILROAD 🛤
Nah, that punk Don deserves that washed up, broken backed bark he cheated Mark out of. Let them eat limes.

Legend...the soul of Grand Funk Railroad.
Saw Grand Funk in 1971 Cleveland Public Auditorium, he was a wild man, played for about 2 1/2 hours , have every original album on vinyl…Should be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame!
I agree should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
I was there,too...my first concert.
He's too pro-gun and he's an open Christian. R&R Hall of Fame is all about Alan Freed.
@@michaeloyler1429 me too!
They're not?
How can you not LOVE Mark Farner?
Whats not to love???

It’s one of those songs that when it comes on the radio,I automatically turn up the volume.
I’m pissed I missed this show.. our local news channels suck at advertising such events.. I had no idea it was occurring.. damn it
I saw Grand Funk play this 50 years ago in the Yale Bowl, New Haven. "Yes"... was the opening band
Saw Mark with GFR at the Agora in Cleveland in 1969. Same unbelievable voice!

I love some kinda wonderful its groove before anything else faked groove. I hope Mark's partner loves him and all is good and wonderful... -R
I always thought this song is one of the best songs in rock and roll.
It certainly is one of the great anthems. It has that ability to unite all us fans to sing the lyrics.
Because it simply IS!!
I wish these three would get it together soon! The clock ticks!!
Yeah, Farner has stated many times that he is ready and that the fans deserve it but it`s Brewer and Mel that are the holdups. Pricks.
I so glad I grew up with the music that has lasted like no other. 8 track tapes and LP albums. Grand Funk Railroad was the greatest band in the world at one time. I really wanted to attend this concert so badly, to honor my late Father Kenneth (Monk) McFadden but I was sick. Maybe someday.❤😁🎸🎤🎼
Don't wait too long.
Wow love it. The drummer and the bass player are playing like Don and Mel played giving that classic Grand Fund Sound. 👍👍👏👏🙂🙂

Love to see Mark is still holding it down, too bad the lights are turned off, so dark, wish we could see the whole band.
