Comment down below what your favorite moment in the movie is, and also please do go watch the fan made trailer I made for the 10th anniversary. I put a lot of time and effort into making that and your support for it would be appreciated. Thanks!
My favorite part of the movie continues to be the initial rocket launch sequence. Jesus, in Imax it's visceral to another degree. How the time counts down as Cooper is leaving in his truck. And then the poem as well, do not go gentle in the good night. Never had goosebumps as deep while watching a movie.
It’s so hard to name just one part because there are so many scenes that’s absolutely incredible… But I felt really emotional at the end when brand … started to breathe the air and walk towards the lights, showing that she was on the right planet… It was just so much to take in, and I couldn’t imagine what her character was going through being all alone like that with such a huge task
May be a bit esoteric, but my favorite part was after the film ended. I saw it in a smaller, sold-out IMAX theater in Raleigh on opening night. It was a visceral experience unlike anything I had been through. As the credits began rolling, nobody moved, nobody talked, and nobody got up to leave. The entire theater was jaws open, deep breathing, “What did we just witness in this glorious room!?” I will never forget my first time with this film.
Yes the same thing happened to me in Northern Virginia. After the film ended nobody moved, nobody said a single word. A full minute of silence (which is so rare in society these days) washed over us all as we just absorbed the greatness we just witnessed. Incredible moment.
I saw this movie in IMAX when it came out with my oldest son who was 14 at the time. It became his favorite movie. Last night, I tool my two youngest sons to see it in IMAX. They are 14 and 17. it's now their favorite movie. Truly incredible film to bond with your children over.
The second half of the movie was almost entirely in the 1:43.1 aspect ratio. Even in the dialogue scenes. You feel surrounded by space. It was beautiful.
As a projectionist, getting to run this movie on 70mm 10 years after I first saw it in 70mm was something truly special. I just closed our final showing a few days ago, and I'm not sure that this experience will ever be topped.
The score is what made me watch it in the first place. I saw a clip of the Miller's planet scene with the ticking and had to see the whole film. But good god that docking scene?!?!?
It was a Tuesday night. November 4th 2014. I had early screening tickets to the IMAX show. My mom made my little sister come with me lol. My seat wasn’t the best.. I was almost under the screen. But the experience was one I’ll never forget. Before the film released I was already a budding Nolan fan. I was familiar with the Batman trilogy. Had just watched Inception after falling in love with the score prior. So I was more than stoked for Nolan’s next film. I honestly think it’s my most anticipated Nolan film. My eyes were glued to the screen the entire time. The score by Hans simply amplified the experience. The waves scene on Miller’s planet was one of the most nerve-wracking moments I’ve ever had in a theater. After the film, I was speechless. I I was obsessed with the world and needed more. I bought the book explaining the science of the film. Now 10 years later… I’m an even bigger fan. I’ve seen it twice in IMAX since it re released and I’m seeing it a third and final time with my parents next week (who have never seen it). Just got the 10th anniversary collector’s edition too! I share your passion for this film my friend!
Those SUPER front row seats are the ones I actively avoid like the plague haha. Also for some reason RUclips is not displaying your whole comment once you start talking about Batman I apologize.
@@airborne111 ok it all just showed up now for me. I love you story even more now! Thanks or sharing and have fun on the third watch with your parents I am sure their reaction could be the same as yours.
I had an out-of-the-body experience while watching this movie. I can't remember having this kind of experience watching any other films. Interstellar is an all time MASTERPIECE.
One of my favorite quotes is from former basketball coach Jim Valvano: "If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day." This film offers all three and does not force a single element. You pointed out how the relationship with his kids provides some of the most emotional scenes ever in film. Now that I have my own children, I get this even more than I had when I first watched it 10 years ago. It makes you laugh...the moments of levity that we get from Tars and Case are brilliant...and, again, not forced and feel completely natural. And lastly, or course the movie makes you think. You think about the state of earth and our place in the universe, you think about the most special people and parts of your own life, you think about the engineering of the film and how it all ties together in the end....the list goes on. I love this film, and it's my all-time favorite, and it's not really close.
Great way to look at it, age also plays into the film now as well the way you put it with having kids now in your life. I am not there yet but one day I will be and I think the film might hit me harder when that time comes.
@@filmobsessednerd It completely changes how the film hits. I saw it pre-kids, and I felt connected to Murph's emotions. But watching after kids, I feel like I can understand what Cooper is feeling. So yes, my stage of life shifted the film and allowed me to connect in two different ways...and no film has ever done that for me.
I took the opportunity to rewatch the movie in both regular 70 mm and IMAX laser 1.43 (both incredible in their own right) and one thing I noticed in particular was how absolutely flawlessly edited this movie is. Its pace is absolutely perfect, there’s not a single awkward transition, different plotlines build upon each other and amp up tension rather than just simply cutting back and forth. Also, little things such as the score suddenly cutting off after the penultimate video message. Lee Smith should have been nominated for an Academy Award.
100% agree about Hans Zimmer’s perfect scoring. The music did indeed exist as a character all by itself. It perfectly reflected the tone of the movie, and told the story in places where dialogue was not needed. It was literal perfection.
It’s interesting to hear this. I’m 65 years old and the film that does it for me to this day is 2001 : A Space Odyssey. I was a teenager when I saw it and it absolutely blew my mind. I didn’t totally understand it but it didn’t matter. I was transported to space and the infinite and beyond. I’ve since seen it probably a dozen times - mostly in 70mm on giant screens. Still love it. Christopher Nolan also has spoken of his love and influence from Kubricks masterpiece. Interstellar and parts of Inception (floating dreams sections) are totally influenced by 2001. Nolan even helped with the 50th anniversary re-release of the 70mm versions - the so called “un-restored” version. The children of Kubrick are legion and Interstellar is a fantastic addition to the club. I happen to believe that if you are a fan of cinema early on in your years there will be one film that totally influences your love of cinema. For me it’s 2001 and for the creator of this video it Interstellar. I have an LA friend in the film industry and for him it’s Jaws. For some it’s Star Wars (count Lucas as another child of Kubrick) Cinema is a marvelous creation we have in our present existence. Long May it continue.
Not only is Cristopher Nolen an incredible director but he knows exactly what kind of music is needed for every moment. Every single one of Nolans movies the soundtracks are phenomenal and never cease to captivate. Interstellar however is on another level, they cooked with this one and it shows. It's one of those soundtracks that I feel if someone ever played it in a mall, most would recognize it instantly and if not that, they would at least not be able to turn away.
Just watched it again after a few years since my last run. I've probably seen this movie 10 times by now but I always come back. This is my favorite movie! Such a sensory experience with the music and visuals if you're watching on a nice setup. At times the story brings me to tears. Absolutely Wonderful!
I had the same experience just yesterday on an Imax screen. It was as if I was seeing ir for the first time. I agree with everything you said, but in a way I also see it as Nolan writing a love letter to his daughter telling her no matter how far or long he goes out to make movies, he's always thinking of her... Thanx!!!
I remember reading Black Holes and Time Warps by Kip Thorne when I was younger, reading the first part of the book about Gargantua and thinking, “wow this would make a great premise to a movie.” Then a few years later comes Interstellar where Kip himself was a science advisor and based the look of the black hole and space travel parts on his own book. Definitely in my top 10 of all time.
Just got out of the IMAX theater at AMC Century City. Best theatrical experience I've had in a long time. So much I could talk about but I think what will resonate with anyone that's seen it in the theaters in IMAX but... ...the EPIC presence of the movie by virtue of IMAX is daunting & Immersive. It adds dimension & enhances the character of the movie. ...the audio, especially Hans Zimmers's haunting score, is so well attuned to the plot, the THX Dolby sound doubles the impact of every moment. ... the physical vibration from the sound system allows the audience to feel every moment from impacts to screams. ... the audience's presence is an amazing communal experience with viewers sharing & gasping at every scene. There's a spirit that's hard to describe that pulls you in. The moment that most stands out among many was when Mann blew the airlock. Those of you who saw it in the theater know what I'm talking about. The speech Mann & Brand are making, the intense music, the shuddering & thundering from the theater sound system then... SILENCE. You could hear a pin drop. THAT'S the theater experience I've been missing.
THE SCORE IS MAGNIFICENT AND THE MOVIE IS REVITING , EMOTIONAL AND SPIRITUAL !! I LOVE THIS MOVIE !! SCI - FI IS MY FAVORITE GENRE !! THE NARRATOR EXPRESSED EVERY SINGLE THING I ALSO EXPERIENCED WATCHING THIS MASTERPIECE !! THE MUSIC IS WHAT TRIGGERED MY EMOTIONS AND FEELINGS TOWARDS THESE UNFORGETTABLE MEMORIES !! THIS MOVIES' SCORE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS EVER AFFECTED ME SO DEEPLY THAT I WAS BROUGHT TO THE POINT OF SOBBING SEVERAL TIMES AND IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL , WARM FEELING THAT MADE ME FEEL ALIVE !! I'M 66 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE SEEN HUNDREDS OF MOVIES IN MY LIFETIME AND I CAN'T COMPARE THE RELIGIOUS SOUL REACHING EFFECT THAT INTERSTELLAR HAD ON ME THE VERY FIRST TIME I WATCHED IT 😢 !!
I just saw interstellar last week for the first time and it was one of the best movies I have ever seen. Also, I just found your channel, my goodness dude I love your content presentation. As a new content creator I feel so inspired by this video!
Couldnt agree more. This movie bonded me with my parents. And I cant thank chris more for that. I saw it 10 years ago with my dad and this time with my mom. And they both loved it. That is the pwoer of good story telling. I think often about these experiences.
10 years ago I went back and forth when I was stationed in Oklahoma watching this film in imax 2 times in one night . I knew what I just experienced was something beyond words for me . I’m able to see it again this last weekend in imax again and the movie still plucked on my mind and heart . Such an amazing movie . Love transcends time
I saw it in IMAX twice when it first came out 10 years ago. I can't believe it's been that long. I saw it again last weekend in IMAX and damn man, three times was a charm. I was more moved by the experience than the first two times. Interstellar is is absolutely incredible. I was balling my eyes out and I could hear other people in the theater doing the same.
Amazing video man glad I came across it 🔥 less than an hour into the movie the sequence of when he tells her he loves her forever and he’s coming back, him turning around to the sound of the book falling, him going outside to his truck to say a final goodbye to Tom and Donald, and Murphy running outside to him driving away, Cooper looking under the blanket to see if she’s there and the rocket countdown with the music….just devastating and the best scene.
After I saw this, film… My jaw was open and I couldn’t even fully explain what I was feeling. …..All I knew is that 200 years from now , people are going to still talk about this film… ….And I was extremely upset with myself because I didn’t see it in theaters… I couldn’t believe it had missed me… Thankfully, I saw it in theaters a few months ago even though I had already seen it
I tried to see this movie when I was 17 but showed up late, so 10 years later at 27 I made sure to experience in imax even tho I had to drive an hour away.
Interstellar was my first IMAX in 2014 and proud to say it was. I was so damned happy to see it again. The time travel in the movie hit a little different this time around.
I love the movie and actually just watched it again last week. My funniest takeaway from it is how the whole story revolves around his daughter and the whole movie just neglects the fact that he doesn't care about his son 😂
Its funny because I've seen several people say this and I firmly believe it has to all be for the memes. I do think he cares for his son but his daughter was the heart of his soul.
Also my absolute, favorite movie of all time. I could watch this every month and still be fascinated and taken in.. It’s brilliant. I’ve found that People get so hung up on the tesseract/love across dimensions and I find myself feeling sorry for them.. I really do believe that most people who truly understand this movie are likely those with the most empathetic and perceptive personality traits. It’s an insane world, but every time I watch this movie it makes me believe that eventually, when it truly comes down to it sometime in the future, humanity is capable of greatness.
Im with youuu, back when this film first release, i watch interstellar in theaters twice, and the feeling just so emotional, long duration movie that doesn't feel long, the score is amazing, can't believe it didnt win oscar for scoring, until now, i still play the music score/soundtrack of interstellar when i do running
It's a shame this film didn't do as well in 2014. Didn't get enough credit at the time. It's made a resurgence in the last few years. It's finally getting the limelight it deserves.
A Watershed moment in cinema history, no one can replicate what Nolan and team pulled off in Interstellar!! Definitely Top 5 in the greatest ever lists but anyone saying it is the greatest ever is also completely acceptable!! Interstellar deserves it
i bought me and my parents tickets to see it today and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I'd already seen it before and it was already my favorite. But now it is absolutely number 1 in every fucking sense
So I got dragged into the cinema to watch this in 2014. Im glad I went. Almost didn't. Thoroughly enjoyed this. And this was a time I was hating sci fi space movies. This captured me. Great story line.
I actually have a theory that CASE is the consciousness of Tom in robot form. I saw a video mentioning this theory once as well. But if you pay attention, throughout the film Cooper has two nicknames for the robots. He calls TARS slick, and he called CASE turbo. He also called Tom Turbo back on earth. Later in the film, older tom is seen wearing a hat in several scenes that says CASE on it. I think that's fitting since the head is where our consciousness lies. And when Cooper is in the the tesseract at the end, he says the bulk beings are humans in the future who have found a way to evolve beyond our 4 known dimensions. Wouldnt it be amazing if Cooper was able to experience both Murph and Tom (through the voiceover of CASE) with him in that tesseract guiding him towards the knowledge he needs to solve the problem? Even when Cooper is in the tesseract, CASE is kind of guiding him towards the answer. Cooper says that he is there to send a message, and CASE agrees, but then Cooper says something to the affect of "well it ain't working" referencing that he doesn't understand what the bulk beings want from him and CASE says "yes it is, you have seen here that time is represented as a physical dimension. The Bulk Beings have constructed this 3 dimensional space within their 5th dimension so that you can send a message" then Cooper starts putting the puzzle pieces together and figures out what he needs to do. But I think Tom was eventually able to get his consiousness put into CASE and lived among the bulk beings and guided Cooper through the dimensions to get the message to Murph. I also love the detail that older Murph wears Coopers old carhart jacket. She always kept her dad with her. I think its particularly special when you realize that she only wears it from the moment she goes to be with Dr. Brand as he is dying to the end of the film. She is first seen wearing a doctors coat. When Dr. Brand passes away she is wearing the carhart jacket, and then when she solves fhe occassion she isn't wearing any jackets. She is finally standing on her own intelligence.
Wow... this is so much my brain is trying its best to take it all in haha. I love this though thank you for sharing. If all true it just shows how good Nolan is at interweaving everything together for all kinds of storytelling. Storytelling at the forefront and also in the background. One thing though that I must mention in your theory that you got wrong is that you say that CASE was the one guiding Cooper during the tesseract scene, that's actually TARS guiding him. CASE stayed with Dr. Brand when they went to the last planet.
@filmobsesssdnerd Mmmm okay well if that's the case (pun intended lol) then I kind of think that's even cooler cuz it would mean that CASE could be and even more pivotal part of building the bridge to the new society of people who evolve to transcend the 4th dimension based on his time on the new planet w Dr. Brand AND it means that both Murphy and Tom have unique ways of being able to experience the future of society. Murphy being able to repopulate w her numerous kids/grandkids, and Tom being able to transcend the dimensions to help humans evolve. In a way, that means both kids find a unique way to transcend the boundaries of gravity. Super cool. I love this movie. It's my favorite movie of all time and I catch new things every single time I watch it. I'm so glad it's getting the appreciation it deserves. I got a chance to see it twice this week in 70mm IMAX on a screen 6 stories tall and 8 stories wide. It was absolutely incredible. Such an incredible opportunity.
I'm pretty sure it was TARS the one that was in the tesserect with cooper. CASE stayed with Brand. And alsp the catharti jacket Murph has is slightly different than Coopers. Good theory tho
The first time I saw this, 10 years ago, I came out of the theatre (LieMax) saying it was the most perfect movie I’d ever seen! I’ve since watched it many times, but finally got to see it in 70mm IMAX in Indianapolis for its’ 10th anniversary. I still believe it is a perfect movie and agree that Hans Zimmer’s score is also genius.
In just a few hours I’m going to the cinema to watch Interstellar again, and I’m so excited! My local theatre does not play it in iMax unfortunately, but it’ll be good still. Interstellar is my fav movie of all time too. My runner-ups are probably Dune part 2 and Call Me By Your Name. Dune is everything that Interstellar is - but it’s missing that truly emotional core. Call me by your name has the emotional core, but even if the OST is impactful, it’s not on the same level as Zimmer in the other two movies mentioned. And while the cinematography is soothing and beautiful it’s not the same cinematic experience and doesn’t warrant a big screen to enjoy it. Nolan, Zimmer and McConaughey outdid themselves with Interstellar, and I don’t think they’ll ever be dethroned from my list of the best movies of all time.
@ don’t know :o it was playing it in the iMax format last week, but I was too busy to make it, and this week it’s, apparently, only showing it in the regular format which was such a bummer. But even without iMax it was a joy to catch it on the big screen again :)
Saw the movie for the first time ever in iMAX on the 6th and 2 more times since then. Can’t believe It took me 10 years?? Was middle school me so focused on the damn force awakens in 2015 that I missed it?
I never thought I'd encounter someone else who thought as highly of this movie as I do! I ;irst saw it on an IMAZ screen in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on first release and thought so then. I got the DVD and have watched it many time sines. It is even better every time I watch it. As you say, the acting throughout is brilliant. Like you, I can't understand the lack of Oscar nominations for the actors. I guess those voters still thought you could honor such a movie via technical nods. Not!
I really appreciate you making this video! I completely agree that INTERSTELLAR is a stunning and thought-provoking film. I appreciated it more the second time I watched it. Absolutely adore the soundtracks-especially 'What Happens Now' and 'No Time for Caution'. They're both incredibly beautiful. I'm planning to see it in theaters in the next couple of weeks
@filmobsessednerd just go into it open minded and you'll probably see what we see in it. I do love both movies though. I think interstellar is a top tier sci fi film
I do not agree as much about the film but your take on the score is dead on. Between this and Man of Steel,a lesser but still rapturous work, Zimmer simply raised the bar even higher than he already had.
Science fiction has always been my least favorite genre, it just never really interested me. So in 2014 when my bro-in-law & sister invited me to go watch Interstellar in theaters, I opted to go hang out with my cousin instead. Fast forward about two years, I finally got around to watching it after so many people told me, "you have to watch it, it's so good". I watched it at home all alone, and my goodness, it was MIND BLOWING!! I was captivated throughout the entire movie. I couldn't believe I had waited so long to watch it. Since then, I've watched it about 8 times and every time I would kick myself for not choosing to watch it in theaters. So you can imagine how elated I was to find out it was being re-released in theaters for its 10th year anniversary. Unfortunately I couldn't (I tried hard) get tickets for the 70mm screening, but at least I was finally able to watch it in theaters, in IMAX. I cried at the emotional scenes and even at times just from being overwhelmed with the beauty of the film. What an experience!
I saw this movie back in 2014 in 70MM IMAX. It was one of my favorite movie experiences of my life. Unfortunately the theater closed permanently due to COVID. RIP Navy Pier IMAX 😢
I wouldn't go as far as saying Interstellar is the greatest movie of all time but it sure it the greatest Sci-fi movie ever. But it's on my top 10 and on the upper half. My favourite scene? Maybe the Tesseract...
For my taste, the only scores "as a character" that I can think of that can be mentioned in the same realm as Interstellar, to me, are 1) The Fountain 2) The Leftovers S1 3) Inception
The emotional roller-coaster on this film is absolutely wild! The only other movie that was so beautiful that it left me feeling such awe, existential dread and terror is SUNSHINE 2007, which I highly encourage you to watch. A hidden treasure of a movie. I would say that some of the soundtracks from SUNSHINE surpass Interstellar.
We understand you have personal reasons to love the movie but except of Hans Zimmer's OST, the screenplay is extremely dull and makes it one of the most overrated movoes ever.
Said for years now, Interstellar is the last greatest OST and Zimmer’s Scores have simply sucked for 10 years. An occasional hit here and there but studios have seemingly given up on its necessity
To varying degrees I agree and disagree, every year still brings great and good music but something like Interstellar is a dime a dozen or more like one and 1,000 of scores you'll ever see get made. And to that, I am almost ok with it because it's not easy to make an effective score that resonates with the story. Unique movies get more unique scores and memorable music, more generic films will get more generic music. That's just how it goes. Music resonates so much with how you perceive a film, for me, my favorite two shows of the last 5 years are two of my all time favorites and they have two all time incredible scores and soundtracks.
On the merits of Interstellar, I’m sure we could agree that it’s a once in a generation score. But to further emphasize my theory of 2014 being the end of great OSTs in general and for Hans (which few exceptions), heres a list of Zimmer’s highlights before and after Interstellar. Before Interstellar: -The Lion King -The Rock -Prince of Egypt -This Red Line -Road to El Dorado -Pearl Harbor -Gladiator -Black Hawk Down -King Arthur -Last Samurai -Da Vinci Code -Batman Begins -Dead Man’s Chest -At World’s End -Madagascar -Kung Fu Panda -The Dark Knight -Inception -Sherlock -The Dark Knight Rises -Man of Steel -Rush -TASM 2 After Interstellar: -Chappie -Inferno -BvS -Hidden Figures -Dunkirk (beginning of Atmospheric scores. Which are serviceable but not hum-able) -Blade Runner 2049 -Dark Phoenix -Lion King (fake one) -WW84 -Dune Part 1 (Oscar win?!) -Dune Part 2 (great but again, atmospheric sounds) -No Time to Die (from what I understand, this movie kept Zimmer from working on Tenet. You’d think Zimmer+Bond would be a home run but all he does is reuse TDKR music in a couple spots.) speaking of Tenet, just more atmospheric music by a new comer. All that said, Interstellar was the last hoorah of music composition for film. Before, just epic after epic after epic score. Is interstellar the most epic among Black Hawk Down, Gladiator, Lion King, Pirates, Rush, Dark Knight, Inception? Debatable. But ain’t no one showing up to Zimmer’s Live in Prague Two: Everything post 2015.
This wasn't even the best movie when it came out, let alone now. Great production, mostly scientifically accurate, and good acting but it also has a boring pace, ridiculous notions (like the transcendence of love), and a disappointing end. The plot twist was middling at best, bordering on being shitty - but was undoubtedly not foreshadowed enough to even have great impact. But yes, please come tell me why I'm wrong. Pretentious Nolan fanatics annoy me to hell, but maybe some are actually rational
Lol did you think maybe we just love the film and see it differently then you? Even if I wasn't a Nolan hardcore fan I'd still recognize that it's beautiful storytelling that affects me in an emotional way.
Overbearing soundtrack, lame focus on solving gravity, missed opportunity to show some actual alien life forms….we knew they were setting up Cooper to see his daughter at the end when she’s older than him just for the novelty. Matt Damon shouldn’t have been in it. Nolan wanted this to be 2001, in my opinion he failed. Since seeing in theaters I have not revisited the film nor will I. Just my 2cents
Interstellar arguably has a fanbase stronger than almost any other piece of media. The closest film that compares to the hold it has on its audience are probably the godfather movies and maybe goodfellas. But that was for a past generation. I enjoy this movie. But it holds so many flaws that drag it down. ALTHOUGH it does have brilliant elements like the music, some of the action set pieces, the use of time, and use of practical elements. However, it’s heavily bogged down at least to me by very bad exposition, a sluggish score, and bad dialogue. All these things could have been avoided with a few more drafts on the script, and a few changes here and there. To me this film is great but not a masterpiece.
This is one of my favorite movies and I've seen it countless times, but for the life of me, I still don't understand where Dr. Mann was trying to go when he left them on the ice planet.. was he trying to go back to Earth or was he trying to go to one of the other prospective planets? Why couldn't they all just go together? I never understood that lol
Basically I think the way it was put is that Dr. Mann was all about PLAN B but Cooper and the rest of them were all about getting back to Earth and so their goals collided and he believed leaving them behind was the best option. Lol to be fair I am not sure why Mann didn't just talk it out with them.
@filmobsessednerd gotcha. Okay, I knew they had opposing plans but yeah it was never really made clear what those were. And for being such an intelligent man you would think he would have been able to be a bit more rational lol
I really enjoyed that. I havent seen it, I know, I know, but I think I will. I guess Ive been afraid I might not like it, like for 10 years its been on my list to watch , and ive only heard good things, but every time i think about watching it, I talk myself out of it. But dog gone it, Im gonna watch it, and just like that lonely scientist in the movie, I will also be touching myself. Lmao I couldnt help myself
It was awesome, definitely grown more on me in the last 10 years, but damn did Nolan go overboard on the exposition. Just over explaining everything, “do not go quietly into that good night”, Matt Damon’s meltdown, just constantly explaining everything. Nolan went critical mass with this on Tenet.. If they’d simply stfu the movie would’ve been perfect.
Hmmm idk about the exposition stuff. I think what makes the dialouge and script so compelling is that you have good actors speaking it out and making it compelling to listen to. It was all done through a good level of conversation that the characters NEEDED to have. Sometimes bad exposition comes when it doesn't need to.
@@TimePlayerOfficial great moment for sure!
It’s so hard to name just one part because there are so many scenes that’s absolutely incredible…
But I felt really emotional at the end when brand … started to breathe the air and walk towards the lights, showing that she was on the right planet… It was just so much to take in, and I couldn’t imagine what her character was going through being all alone like that with such a huge task
@@CerebralTheReal1 great moment for sure!
Lol funny enough my theater was different, as soon as the credits started rolling, everyone minus me a few people stayed for the whole credits😅
@@andrewdesko4359 I should of added thay to my comment.
Exact same thing happened. We all stayed till the end of credits lol
Yes the same thing happened to me in Northern Virginia. After the film ended nobody moved, nobody said a single word. A full minute of silence (which is so rare in society these days) washed over us all as we just absorbed the greatness we just witnessed. Incredible moment.
Filed under “things that didn’t happen “.
This happened in Seattle too. Nobody left or even clapped until the after credits ended and the title was shown again. Super weird
"Because my dad promised me” Instant tears every time I hear this line.
One of the best lines ever... one that transcends all generations and gives a story in its own way
I'm a father now. This line hits HARDER THAN EVER now.
@Fogad237 me too man, watery eyes just reading this wtf
I saw this movie in IMAX when it came out with my oldest son who was 14 at the time. It became his favorite movie.

Truly incredible film to bond with your children over.
Awesome I love that!
The second half of the movie was almost entirely in the 1:43.1 aspect ratio. Even in the dialogue scenes. You feel surrounded by space. It was beautiful.
Awesome thing to point out for people who would not have known or noticed otherwise
As a projectionist, getting to run this movie on 70mm 10 years after I first saw it in 70mm was something truly special. I just closed our final showing a few days ago, and I'm not sure that this experience will ever be topped.
That's awesome thank you for bringing it to life at that job!
Your take on the musical score is DEAD ON. When I tell people about this film, the score is what I mention FIRST. Well said!
Exactly man!
I was obsessed with the world and needed more.
@@filmobsessednerd all good just rambling. Great video man! Keep it up.
@@airborne111 ok it all just showed up now for me. I love you story even more now! Thanks or sharing and have fun on the third watch with your parents I am sure their reaction could be the same as yours.
I’ve watched this movie 35 times in the last 34 days. (Twice on Thanksgiving).
It relaxes me.
Good god man that's commitment but I love it!😅
It's Matthew's deep, rich, scratchy voice
Being able to watch this movie in IMAX 70 MM again was such a blessing
I had an out-of-the-body experience while watching this movie. I can't remember having this kind of experience watching any other films. Interstellar is an all time MASTERPIECE.
Absolutely!
That’s always been one of my favorite quotes too
I feel the thing about music being a character also applies to Oppenheimer. That score was incredible
You are right about the Oscars and how this movie should have been recognized.
Great way to look on it thank you for sharing!
I came here to say this. I agree with you
Not only is Cristopher Nolen an incredible director but he knows exactly what kind of music is needed for every moment.
They recognize it in the mall but then stop what they are doing and just take it all in
Just watched it again after a few years since my last run. I've probably seen this movie 10 times by now but I always come back. This is my favorite movie! Such a sensory experience with the music and visuals if you're watching on a nice setup. At times the story brings me to tears. Absolutely Wonderful!
I can't even explain how emotionally moving this movie is. It tears my heart open to my own personal experiences with love, family and friends.
I had the same experience just yesterday on an Imax screen. It was as if I was seeing ir for the first time. I agree with everything you said, but in a way I also see it as Nolan writing a love letter to his daughter telling her no matter how far or long he goes out to make movies, he's always thinking of her...
Thanx!!!
Great way to look at it!
Ya the moment when Mann gets blown out I had a few gasps in my audience
Hey thank you for the kind words I appreciate it! I do my best and put a lot of passion into it.
Couldnt agree more. This movie bonded me with my parents. And I cant thank chris more for that. I saw it 10 years ago with my dad and this time with my mom. And they both loved it. That is the pwoer of good story telling. I think often about these experiences.
The more times we experience Interstellar, the more we appreciate it.
Truly a timeless masterpiece in every aspect.
10 years ago I went back and forth when I was stationed in Oklahoma watching this film in imax 2 times in one night . I knew what I just experienced was something beyond words for me . I’m able to see it again this last weekend in imax again and the movie still plucked on my mind and heart . Such an amazing movie .
Love transcends time
Thank you for your service and I agree it takes your heart
Thank you!
Just seen this for the first time yesterday . I love it 🥰
👏🏾 you’ve done the movie justice. It is my all time favourite and I don’t think I could have articulated its brilliance better than you did. Bravo.
Thank you for the kind words!
Agreed!
Thanks for successfully vocalising the thing that has ripped me apart as a dad for years now...love it.
Of course, you're welcome! Glad I could help in that.❤
Haans deserves just as much credit ❤
A Watershed moment in cinema history, no one can replicate what Nolan and team pulled off in Interstellar!! Definitely Top 5 in the greatest ever lists but anyone saying it is the greatest ever is also completely acceptable!! Interstellar deserves it
i bought me and my parents tickets to see it today and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I'd already seen it before and it was already my favorite. But now it is absolutely number 1 in every fucking sense
Awesome!
So I got dragged into the cinema to watch this in 2014. Im glad I went. Almost didn't. Thoroughly enjoyed this. And this was a time I was hating sci fi space movies. This captured me. Great story line.
It's criminal that the movie didn't got the Oscar of movie of the year
I actually have a theory that CASE is the consciousness of Tom in robot form.
@@indiajohnson4149 well hey all of that is awesome still and I am glad your experience with it was incredible!
Classic. I saw it 3 times in theaters. Once in IMAX back when it released
Interstellar is the major motion picture masterpiece of the new millennium.
Wait how is your theater playing the movie if it's not in IMAX?
@ don’t know :o it was playing it in the iMax format last week, but I was too busy to make it, and this week it’s, apparently, only showing it in the regular format which was such a bummer. But even without iMax it was a joy to catch it on the big screen again :)
Seeing this movie in an IMAX theater with this Music is breathtaking
Not!
The only scores "as a character" that can be mentioned in the same realm as Interstellar, to me, are 1) The Fountain 2) The Leftovers S1 3) Inception
The Best IMAX Experience in my life. This movie is special.
Thank you and that's awesome! I hear they extended the re-release another week so make sure you get out and see it soon!
It's probably the second best space movie ever made. 2001: A Space Odyssey goes deeper and more inspiring
I still need to see 2001 and hopefully it'll be soon
@filmobsessednerd just go into it open minded and you'll probably see what we see in it. I do love both movies though. I think interstellar is a top tier sci fi film
My brother-in-law said this should be nominated for the 2025 Oscar awards
Lol that's funny if only it could
I’ve done nothing but push this movie on people to try and get them to watch it since I’ve seen it 😂😂
you must have been sitting next to me in the theater both crying most of the movie
Maybe I was lol we shall never know but I was in fact a mess
@@filmobsessednerd I brought a wad of tissues in my purse
Just watched it yesterday in 70 mm IMAX and it was glorious
That Hans was scoring a sci-fi movie without knowing it is wild.
I had watched it many times. March 2024 I went and watched it at Imax Sydney. It was like watching for the first time 😢
Awesome!
I cant remember how many times i have watched this movie. And i still will
I saw this in IMAX this week too! Went with my dad and we both were basically weeping. BEAUTIFUL movie
I love that!
What’s crazy is that this isn’t even glazing
😂😂😂 for real tho
The four horsemen of science fiction: Interstellar, 2001 A Space Odyssey, the Martian, and Project Hail Mary
Project Hail Mary getting a movie soon too with GREAT filmmakers attached
Christopher Nolan is now one of my favorite directors besides James Cameron …
Very well said. I agree with everything you said, especially your comments on the music.
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Never expected Interstellar to become this popular.Well deserved.👍
I don't think a lot of people did and I am thankful it did hit that popularity
I do not agree as much about the film but your take on the score is dead on. Between this and Man of Steel,a lesser but still rapturous work, Zimmer simply raised the bar even higher than he already had.
The Man of Steel score is also one of the greatest ever made. Moving and emotional in every way.
Great story thank you for sharing!
Maybe the Tesseract...
fair enough on the point of you think it's the best Sci-Fi but not best overall
TARS & CASE were the best side characters in a movie
5:10 with Oppenheimer neck and neck
Oppenheimer is definitely one too
For my taste, the only scores "as a character" that I can think of that can be mentioned in the same realm as Interstellar, to me, are 1) The Fountain 2) The Leftovers S1 3) Inception
12/10. Pure perfection.
Love this review, I am thankfulnyour channel showed up on my feed.
Hey thank you for the kinds words I appreciate it!
Just saw this in IMAX today! Perfection!
I have to 100 per cent agree, a beautiful film, I love films that evoke emotion and expand your mind
Great review and wonderful analysis. This is my all-time #1 favorite movie.
Thank you!
Interstellar is basicly a sequel or a remake of the film Contact by Robert Zemeckis which I actually like more.
I still need to see Contact
The emotional roller-coaster on this film is absolutely wild! The only other movie that was so beautiful that it left me feeling such awe, existential dread and terror is SUNSHINE 2007, which I highly encourage you to watch. A hidden treasure of a movie. I would say that some of the soundtracks from SUNSHINE surpass Interstellar.
I have yet to see Sunshine but one day I'll get to it
Bravo 👏🏼
Hans Zimmer score in The Rock was his best imho. This movie is a close second for Hans
Still gotta see The Rock
I saw it in theaters 6 times lol… never seen anything like it before and imax was still kinda newish then
Awesome!
We understand you have personal reasons to love the movie but except of Hans Zimmer's OST, the screenplay is extremely dull and makes it one of the most overrated movoes ever.
Don't agree with you there my friend🤷♂
Only movie that’s made you cry?
Damn man, is this the only movie you’ve ever experienced? lol
Bro, listen to what I said again! I said "this is the only movie to ever make me cry EVERY TIME I watch it".
@ my bad bro!
I agree with you, this one is def an all timer 👍👍
Said for years now, Interstellar is the last greatest OST and Zimmer’s
Scores have simply sucked for 10 years.
Before Interstellar:
-The Lion King
-The Rock
-Prince of Egypt
-This Red Line
-Road to El Dorado
-Pearl Harbor
-Gladiator
-Black Hawk Down
-King Arthur
-Last Samurai
-Da Vinci Code
-Batman Begins
-Dead Man’s Chest
-At World’s End
-Madagascar
-Kung Fu Panda
-The Dark Knight
-Inception
-Sherlock
-The Dark Knight Rises
-Man of Steel
-Rush
-TASM 2
After Interstellar:
-Chappie
-Inferno
-BvS
-Hidden Figures
-Dunkirk (beginning of Atmospheric scores. Which are serviceable but not hum-able)
-Blade Runner 2049
-Dark Phoenix
-Lion King (fake one)
-WW84
-Dune Part 1 (Oscar win?!)
-Dune Part 2 (great but again, atmospheric sounds)
-No Time to Die (from what I understand, this movie kept Zimmer from working on Tenet.
@@g.williamwoodward6676 I am not sure if I agree with a lot of that, I get where you are coming from but I just don't agree with the sentiment of it
This wasn't even the best movie when it came out, let alone now.
Your 2 cents for sure and I'll disagree with just about all of it but to each their own
Interstellar arguably has a fanbase stronger than almost any other piece of media.
Well hey I appreciate that we might have a different take on some things but we both agree the film is great
This is one of my favorite movies and I've seen it countless times, but for the life of me, I still don't understand where Dr.
@@livia5158 well I mean the dude is basically going crazy for not having seen a human for who knows how long and also thinking he had killed himself
@filmobsessednerd true..good point!
Interstellar is definitely my favourite syfi movie!!
100% correct
I really enjoyed that. I havent seen it, I know, I know, but I think I will. I guess Ive been afraid I might not like it, like for 10 years its been on my list to watch , and ive only heard good things, but every time i think about watching it, I talk myself out of it. But dog gone it, Im gonna watch it, and just like that lonely scientist in the movie, I will also be touching myself. Lmao I couldnt help myself
Go see it now while it's still in theaters!
Is it my imagination, or your voice sounds exactly like the @uncle iroh's tea shop?
I think you should stick to trusting your imagination lol because I am Uncle Iroh's Tea Shop... it's my third channel😅
I love this movie, though saying it has the best film score ever is pushing things a bit far. It is a great score... leave it there.
Well hey we can agree to disagree, I don't think I will find a film that has better than it
It's a great movie to watch in theaters. But it's not even close to being the greatest film ever made.
To me it is
It's in the top 10... But it still doesnt beat out Shawshank Redemption
Hey totally fair man, I know a lot of people really love Shawshank
