For 2003, CGI Hulk's movement is really, really fluid. It's actually kinda impressive.
Yeah, while the rendering is kinda dated (still works though), the animation is pretty darn good. Very lifelike movements even with the crazy strength and speed. Not sure if they used mocap, or just references.

Lee Hulk is much faster and can jump much further. Based on leg strength alone, we can assume his arm strength would just naturally be higher than MCU Hulk.

I absolutely love this Hulk. He's strong, he's fast, he's not a dumb brute, the more rage he feels the more he grows larger and larger, he gets angry because of the things happening around him. The bad dogs? The choppers? The tanks? The military? All of them interrupted him in his time thinking alone about stuff, really why he chose to fight was because he wanted to defend himself.
The Hulk feels like he needs a time alone sometimes in the comics and just wants to be far away from humans sometimes, since they 'hate' him so much, and that makes him angry.
Yeah I like the MCU Hulk but this movie is great. There's a scene where Hulk is resting from a fight and just stares at the rocks and desert plants as if he's aware he was made from plants and animals Banners's father's serum used.
@@tubian323 it was also a homage to his mom as when he was a child with banner, they would watch there mom plant and do gardening. Although Hulk remembers meanwhile Banner forgot due to the trauma he got from his mom getting killed.

Not necessarily. In Avengers: Endgame, you can clearly see the difference in muscle size and height between Smart Hulk and Angry Hulk during the car-smashing scene when they traveled back in time to Manhattan to get the Space Stone. So, they managed to showcase it.

out of all the movies so far this is the only one that showed how strong hulk can actually be, throwing tanks hundreds of meters away, running at crazy speeds, leaping huge distances, being extremely resilient, the only thing they didnt show properly of was his rage, most of the time in the movie he looks afraid and worries for his safety while in reality hulk would probably get so pissed off, hed destroy everything in his way. if they took the personality of hulk from the 2nd movie and the physical prowess of this hulk and combined them that would be one crazy hulk movie. and yeah this cgi still holds up pretty decent for a 17 year old movie and it looked cool as fck for a kid like me.

I think the CGI still looks really good, never got the hate for it. I remember people saying it looked bad at the time too which is baffling, it looks better than some movies out today. I've even revisited other CG heavy movies from around the same time and they didn't age nearly as gracefully

I'm honestly just interested in how this Hulk seems far more intelligent than other iterations.
Usually he just ranks damage and dishes it out, but here we see him dodging, avoiding attacks, and problem solving in the form of throwing missiles and spitting that one warhead at the helis.
It honestly makes the hulk feel so much more like he's actually Banner hopped up on strong boy juice and a bad temper, and I wish we got to see more of that.
“Strong boy juice” is one of the best names for Hulk’s gamma powers I’ve ever heard

As a child I loved watching the series The Incredible Hulk. There are some people killed in every episode, but not ever by the Hulk. He was tall (now even taller), green, roars like monster, it almost never talks (not in the series I watched), but is always the good guy, without exception.
In addition to it, I was never afraid, although the transformation from normal status to the Hulk and back is a bit scary, but not really frightening.

Armor that not even tony starks lazers (which can cut through most metals) could penetrate. He took full blows from an enraged thor, suplexed fenris like a stuffed toy and punched surtur at his prime so hard he managed to knock him off balance. What did this hulk do? He struggled to pick up a boulder and struggled to rip off the top of a tank. I love this hulk but the stats prove that mcu hulk is at least 3x as strong as this hulk would be at max height and strength. Go do some research

For a movie made 20 or so years ago, this ain't bad CGI at all. Granted they did pour most of the CGI budget into hulk himself.

I really think that the CGI in this movie had no right to be as good as this. For 2003 this is just absolutely astounding. I think the character model itself does look a bit goofy, but thats just the design choice, nothing to do with the actual CGI itself. Like certain shots you can literally count the pores on Hulks face, other have some of the smoothest animation for a character of his size moving at that speed Ive seen to date.

edit: I know you need to upgrade him dipshits ive played an RPG before my point was hulk doesnt belong in this kind of game because hes so neutered until hes upgraded and it feels really unsatisfying for the first several hours of playing him. The CG is fine for its days... and it still looks pretty decent. This is one of the first movies to use muscle simulation for humans other than Lord of the Rings, Facial simulation of Humans and other complex movement

This is exactly how the Hulk is supposed to be.
Banner/Hulk in this movie is perfectly portrayed.
Hulk isn’t just a mindless creature all the time. He has Banner sometimes taking control of him at times. Hulk isn’t a clown like how MCU has made him. He’s the serious child persona of Banner overwhelmed with trauma from his past. Within all that anger/sadness he just wants peace deep inside. He’s also tactical when he wants to be and 2003 has clearly demonstrated the actual physique, strength, speed, and especially size of the Hulk. Also, his green residue that wafts over his shoulders when he gets angry and the fluid that burns off when the gamma radiation wears off before he turns normal. Banner was also perfect in here. He’s an intelligent scientist with a lonely persona and doesn’t want to be bothered while still helping humanity. Eric Banna also looks more like Banner from the comics than Mark Ruffalo. If it wasn’t this movie then it’s clearly 2008 Hulk after this. MCU made me despise the character.

This hulk gives me goosebumps til this day. I love how his rage seems to burn off him, and his movements were so raw 🔥In the Incredible Hulk, he was too small for me, and I hated how his anger didn’t continue to rise, and he didn’t change size. Today’s hulk is just goofy, doesn’t get me on edge. He’s like a big kid that’s just mad, not ENRAGED.

This movie had some issues but I've always found it's CGI to be really strikingly good. Many CGI struggle in daylight but Hulk here really looks good for a movie made 21 years ago.
