Easily one of my most played Arcade Shooters as a kid! Absolutely loved this game in the arcades! Taito as always at the top of the awesomeness pile! Amazing game, thanks for the footage.
Building up the blue weapon was the only way to go on this game for me. The huge fan of bullets it put out meant you didn't have to maneuver as much to hit targets. You could just stay in a tight circle and kill everything small as soon as it came in the screen usually before they fire off a shot. This was my favorite game by far.
Thank you for not posting some TASbot, deathless craziness. It's soothing to my PTSD memories of this game's difficulty to see someone else getting killed in the same areas I did. Lord, I made Toaplan some money back in the early 90's. Yellow gun = cruel joke.
one of the best ever. demands 100% of your attention at all times. Found an arcade that has this cabinet and am going to play this tomorrow. This game sucked away most of my early twenties.
Raiden of Seibu Kaihatsu was inspired by this great classic shmup ! Fire Shark is also an another great game and classic shmup by Toaplan (and call Same ! Same ! Same ! In japan ! A MD portage made by Toaplan itself exist and are excellent for this hardware). So good to see this game in Action ! Good video.

I got so good at this game, for a measly 25 cents, I could play it for a good half hour every time. Cheapest entertainment for a compulsive like me. LOL
I remember spending one coin to play for like an hour. I could complete it and start over again and loose in the first stages of the second loop. Good times.

Help me guys, i can't find a one game: Airplane can be played and double. The specific thing in this game was that it could catch two types of shield. -the unit, 2 balls stand in front of your plane and they keep you from the enemy shootings. - the second, again, 2 balls, but circling around your plane by shooting the enemy shootings according to which one is closest to striking you. One ball, if it keeps you on the right, the other on the left. If one is in front of your plane, the other is in the back. So they moved in parallel one another. Another, as a hint, I can not think. I tried searching for "Raiden Galaxy", "Air Craft" and others, but without success!
The game that you are thinking of, is a rare CAPCOM shooter called "Varth." Yes, even Capcom had a scrolling shooter or two or three in its day (Vulgus, Forgotten Worlds, Side Arms, and Varth, don't remember if there are any others). 30 jam-packed stages with a boss at the end of each stage....and your choice of guard pod configuration (fixed or rotating). Me, I always used the fixed forward shield configuration. Again, the game is called "Varth." See if you can find the hidden Ryu from Street Fighter the next time you play it! (Available on MAME.)
I feel like the FM synth music and sounds let this game down. It sounds like an early megadrive game. It would have sounded better to me with an older chip ironically.

Spent all my allowance on Twin Cobra, Outzone, Street Fighters and Theater of Magic. Good old days at the arcade.

1 token at alladin's castle. Equivalent to 25 cents back in the day. Hated when some douche would walk up and drop a token in to join the game.

The arcade Version is much easier than the Turbografx-16 Version. If you die there you must start the Level again.
