I've only ever heard of "eugenia" referred to as syzygium, or Lilly Pilly. Every day is a school day 😄 I live in Australia, and these are VERY common hedging plants. There are a lot of cultivars, many of which feature no/low fruiting, thrip resistance, and smaller sizing (so you're not constantly pruning). Can highly recommend looking up the cultivars!

Thanks for info about neem oil. I have the curly leaf on some of my trees
My pleasure! The neem oil definitely works… Just have to be consistent with it.
Is it fine for cats? My cat likes to get out there and chew on leaves.
It should be fine. It may cause some stomach irritation of if ingested but it’s generally considered a non-toxic plant.
